I'd never heard of this author before but stumbled up Cabin Fever. It was almost perfect for me. Great humor and heat. The characters felt real and were great together. Also I can't look away from the cover. I freaking love it. Especially the look on Cathy's face. Really sets the tone.
What stopped it from being a 5-star read? The redundancy. The same information being repeated by each POV character. The reader doesn't need to rehash everything that just happened. We were there. If we couldn't get the non-POV character's feeling/thought/reaction from the author showing us, maybe we don't need it. Or it can be introduced in a way that doesn't just regurgitate the same ideas/thoughts/whatever in the same words.
This was a short novel but would have been a 5-star novella or short story that had more impact. But still I've fallen in love with Ms. Vidal's writing voice and have already jumped into a sample of another of her books.
I wish I could put into words how much I enjoyed this story. Once I started reading, I couldn't put it down. This book is an exquisite slow burn, with so many false starts that you felt the tension would never break. The characters were well-developed, the dialogue was on point (there were so many laugh-out-loud moments), and that cat deserves a book of its own! I highly recommend this for anyone who loves their romance with little drama, mixed with spice and a side of humor.
This was a cute little book about two single lesbians getting away from it all around the same time in cabins that are next to each other. The cat was a funny and interesting throw in up to a point but when you are so attracted to each other and kissing up and storm and a cat stops you from moving to the next step... it's time to put the cat in another room. I love the ending and how Cathy and Liza worked everything out the way it was meant to be. A great snowed in love story. Too much of one pussy cat and not enough of the other. lol
4 stars. This was adorable as hell. And actually quite humorous. The Mike Johnson bit had me laughing. Liza is hilarious for that. She and Cathy have such a cute romance and Celestine, the trouble making matchmaking cat is the true star of the show. What a fun and wacky read. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
If I could give Cabin Fever 6 stars, 10.. loved this book. There are scenes I couldn’t stop laughing still chuckle when I think about them. Tessa has a great writing style, excellent sense of humor. I’m slowly making my way through all her books and have loved them all. Lisa and Cathy.. all the characters you’ll just fall in love with them oh, can’t forget the cat! Staring roll.
This is a wonderful and fun romance, which I thoroughly enjoyed reading. Liza and Cathy are both running away from their unhappy lives by staying in remote mountain cabins. A blizzard descends and forces them to realize they might be in love (with a little help from a cat).
Cabin Fever was a heartfelt yet comedic story about Hollywood soap opera star, Liza, who meets book publisher, Cathy, in mountainous North Carolina. Both women need to get away from their lives for different reasons. They are joined by a hilarious white cat, Celestine, with mismatched eyes, who seems to draw the two women together.
Great read. I was hooked after the first chapter. Thank you for your books. It was entertaining, funny, bright and surprising. We are all afraid of something. But if we put it out front of us instead of hiding we can overcome our fears. Lovely.
I loved this book! Quick read. Laugh out loud funny. Great characters, including a cat! No angst, no 3ABU. Immediately on re-read list, and probably will become a comfort read.
