This was such an emotional, addictive second-chance romance.
The childhood friendship, first love, years of pining, heartbreak, and undeniable chemistry between Sam Campbell and Jameson Kane had me completely invested. There were definitely moments when I wanted to shake Sam and tell her to just communicate, but I understood the fear behind her choices and loved watching them find their way back to each other.
Jameson was everything I want in an obsessed hero. Protective, possessive, intense, a little unhinged, and completely devoted to Sam, while still genuinely supporting her hockey dreams. I loved that he never asked her to choose between her career and their relationship. The way he kept showing up and quietly building the future he wanted with Sam and their daughter completely melted me.
What made this an amazing read was the heart beneath all the angst, spice, secrets, and drama. Their love had so much history that even through the hurt and separation, their connection never truly disappeared. The hockey, street racing, found family, and emotional payoff made this such a satisfying romance, and I finished it with the biggest smile.
Definitely one for anyone who loves second chances and a hero who is completely gone for his woman.

He is her childhood best friend, her boyfriend, her first love, and the person she believes will be standing beside her as they chase their dreams together.
Everything changes when Sam discovers she is pregnant at one of the most important moments of their lives. Overwhelmed by fear and convinced that she is protecting both of their futures, she makes a decision that changes everything between them. Watching Sam struggle with the consequences of that choice was heartbreaking. She carries so much guilt, fear, and uncertainty, and although I did not always agree with the way she handled things, I understood how young and frightened she was.
Jameson Kane completely stole my heart. Known as Candy Kane on the ice, he may have a beautiful face, but he is also a fierce enforcer who will do absolutely anything for the people he loves. Sam has been his entire world since they were children, and there has never been any doubt in his mind that they belong together.
Jameson is intense, possessive, determined, and completely obsessed with Sam, but beneath all of that is someone who genuinely wants her to achieve every dream she has ever had. I loved discovering the ways he had quietly supported her over the years. He never wanted Sam to choose between him and hockey, and he was constantly working behind the scenes to make sure she had every opportunity to succeed.
Even after Sam breaks his heart and their lives move in different directions, Jameson never truly lets her go. His commitment to showing up every weekend and refusing to disappear from her life was one of my favourite parts of the story. He may be hurt and angry, but his love for Sam remains unwavering.
The racing element added another exciting layer to Jameson’s character. Hockey is where he built his reputation, but racing is where he finds control and earns the money he needs to create the future he wants. There is something incredibly compelling about the contrast between the disciplined hockey player and the adrenaline-loving racer, especially when loving Sam is the one thing capable of making him lose control completely.
Sam and Jameson’s relationship is filled with history, longing, pain, and undeniable chemistry. Their connection never disappears, even when they are separated by secrets and years of hurt. Every interaction between them carries the weight of everything they once had and everything they still desperately want.
There were moments when I wanted Sam to simply tell Jameson the truth, but her fear of losing his love controlled so many of her decisions. The misunderstandings and lack of communication were frustrating at times, but they also created some incredibly emotional scenes. What we discover later in Rush is that "the list" wasn't just a set of boxes to check off; it was filled with secrets that unravel the truth. No distance or time could ever keep Jameson away from Sam and their daughter, Dylan. He was always right there, leaving little life notes that eventually come full circle.
Are his motives entirely pristine? Not exactly... but us romance readers aren’t here for fictional men who play strictly by the rules anyway! Ashton Brooks delivers a German Shepherd-energy hero like no other. And the cherry on top? The epilogues. Hands down, I loved seeing everything come full circle on the page.

The growth in this book shines so bright through the pages. It left me desperate for more, but Ashton gives us the perfect balance of banter, yearning, and angst. The truth behind the street racing makes so much sense as the story unfolds, and the danger behind it lights up the screen on your Kindle.

Sam: Fierce, forgiving, witty, smart, and utterly fearless.
The Spice 🔥🌶️
Jameson effing Kane is one dirty-mouthed, protective, morally grey man, and I LOVED every single moment Ashton wrote for him in Rush. Nothing could stop this man from getting skin-to-skin with Sam. If there were any more spice scenes packed into these pages, it would’ve crossed straight into full-blown 🌽! Haha! Ashton knows exactly how to write spice with a total chokehold.
The Secrets & Final Thoughts 🤫
The checklist turned out to be so much more than expected. While I do wish we got to see a few more items checked off with extra detail, it was still just enough for the storyline to develop beautifully. Ashton absolutely kicked ass with this third installment! The inner circle made everything come together for the ultimate full-circle ending.

Sam Campbell and Jameson Kane had met as children and quickly became friends bonding over their shared love of ice hockey. This friendship soon deepened into first love and their future together seemed certain. But their plans are thrown into turmoil when Sam discovers they haven’t been as careful as they should have been and two is about to become three. Terrified of what Jameson will say, or that he’ll think she’s trapped him, Sam makes the decision of what happens next without asking him what he wants, leading to consequences that tear them apart, changing both their lives.

Miscommunication and interference from Sam’s mother may have driven them apart, but in Jameson’s mind, their separation was always temporary. Building a life with Sam and their daughter has always been the end game, and even while they were apart, he was quietly plotting and scheming in the background to make that future a reality and I enjoyed the character development for them both. They each have plenty to work through and watching them grow individually and together added so much to the story.

4.25⭐ Rush is the third book in the Saints vs. Pirates series by Ashton Brooks. This book IMO is tame compared to the first two and even though the MMC has OTT issues this story is more sweet than anything. If you like Hockey & Street Racing, Friends to Lovers, Surprise Pregnancy and a Second Chance then this book is it for you. But this book also has an Obsessive Hero who has been Pining for the Love of His Life and goes to any lengths to Protect his Girls. Secrets and Miscommunication is the problem and it's an emotional time line, but we see a great group of friends who become family and the HEA with 2 epilogues brings these characters to life.
TW: Loss of a parent/grief, complicated and toxic family relationships, teen pregnancy (while both characters were 18, they were still in high school. Mentioned in flashbacks, not shown). There is also stalking tendencies, obsessive and possessive behavior from both characters, birth control tampering, and illegal street racing & steamy, explicit sex scenes.

I’ve waited three books for this story and it was absolutely so worth the wait. I freaking love these two and their little family that they’ve built and just the way they co-parent their little girl was so special but you can tell after years of not being together that they still love each other. Sammy and Jameson first met when they were little and on the same hockey team and after that they were always bestfriends up until high school when they started dating.
Sam is her college hockey team defensive player. She’s a sweet and sassy girl and I love her so much she’s working so hard in college while also being a young mom to Dylan who’s just the cutest girl ever. Towards the end of senior year Sam became pregnant and now they’re 21 and is not together anymore but still are in each other life cause they’re raising their daughter while also yearning for each other. I’m so glad these two got their happy ending they deserve it so much and Jameson was gonna make sure he gets his girl back so they can be a family.

I’ve waited three books for this story and it was absolutely so worth the wait. I freaking love these two and their little family that they’ve built and just the way they co-parent their little girl was so special but you can tell after years of not being together that they still love each other. Sammy and Jameson first met when they were little and on the same hockey team and after that they were always bestfriends up until high school when they started dating.
Sam is her college hockey team defensive player. She’s a sweet and sassy girl and I love her so much she’s working so hard in college while also being a young mom to Dylan who’s just the cutest girl ever. If you are a fan of the previous books in the Saints vs Pirates series then you absolutely want this third book!! It was so much fun to finally get these two characters story!! They also have a long history with miscommunication being a big factor for these two along with outside interface.
If you love a possessive unhinged but sweet softie for his girl(s) then omg Jameson Kane is your man!! He was possessive of Sam from the start and knew at a young age he was willing to do anything to keep her forever. She's his end game and nothing will stand in his way even her. He has moments where you will swoon and then wonder why you find his craziness so appealing and able to overlook his unhinged behavior lol. Rush was a second-chance romance that kept me hooked, even when it frustrated me.
It takes a while to reach the central misunderstanding, but once everything starts to unravel, it's easy to see how much Sam's mother contributed to the mess. She honestly drove me crazy and played a huge role in pushing these two apart.
Essentially, Sam decides to protect his future, he follows along with the downright dumb advice and all of a sudden they lose years.
Jameson is the definition of obsessed. Protective, possessive, completely devoted, and absolutely determined to keep Sam in his life. He's only ever had eyes for her, and has no plans to change it at all.
As his secrets begin to surface, though, it becomes clear that his obsession runs much deeper than it first appears.
I knew he was a little unhinged, but the story pushed that even further towards the end.
Towards the ending was where the book lost me a little. I was disappointed by how quickly Sam seemed to accept Jameson's choices, offering only token resistance before going along with everything. The way his actions were handled changed how I felt about both the characters and the overall story.
Even with those frustrations, I still really enjoyed the book. It was addictive, emotional, and hard to put down. I just needed to take a breather after finishing it, because what happens in the book would be a crime in the real world.

Rush : Saints VS Pirates Series Book 3 ) Oh my gosh guys this series is so freaking good . I’m just completely obsessed and in love with each couple and their journey. I mean how do you even choose a favorite? When each owns a piece of your heart!? And we’re only on book 3 . Well if you had asked me that question prior to reading Sam and Jamison’s Journey, I would have said impossible, just not even possible. That being said , Sam and Jameson just may be it . Oh how I adored there two , oh how the connection I felt to both was like a butterfly to a flame 🔥. The history and connection between them , the second chance , childhood best friends to lovers and everything that happened in between just had me reeling from so many different emotions. Smiling, laughing, yelling, heartbreak and cheering so freaking hard . These two did not always have it easy , their journey was not without obstacles and emotional challenges. But I loved how they supported one another and how they fought for the happy ending they so desperately craved and clearly deserved. Add. Into that the angst , the humor, the witty banter , the love , the passion, the forgiveness, the family and friendships. Rush was and is such a beautiful and truly emotional love story . Not to mention fun , steamy and utterly addictive

Having always wanting to read Ashton's books I jumped at the chance of an ARC opportunity! This book has ALL the feels, second chance love with the angst that would bring.
New beginning's, possessive street hero Jameson becomes so much more for Sam the second time around. I liked the fact that the female lead Sam has a great career ahead of her as a Hockey pleyer, refreshing to read this angle, instead of taking a backseat for him.
Their love for one another is so raw, honest and believable. The fact that they split up when they were younger makes them want to try more, for their daughter, for their future. This is heartfelt, obesessive love that you want to work, its a rollercoaster of a ride but so good! I lapped it up and wanted so much more.
Fast paced, edgy this reminded me of the best indie writers in the early 2000's. The first love feeling, that rush, you can't get enough of one another well RUSH certainly had that in spades but with a story that had backbone. I will need to go and read books ine and two in the series as I hear they are steamier!

Holy obsessive overprotective man!!! But he really does love her beyond all that matters and it’s his way and he can’t help it and in his own way it really is so very sweet and lovable! That’s the only way to describe Jameson the MMC in this book. And you really do fall in love with him but you get so aggravated at him at his over the top ways!! Sam loves him just as much tho but she just doesn’t go over the top. She just wants him to get all of his dreams too. But his dreams are to have his girls with him all the time. And he’s working so hard to achieve it. And then there’s Dylan! I loved how she was so represented in this book. How she wasn’t just pushed aside like some authors do when children are involved. This is book 3 of the Saints vs. Pirates and it’s Sam’s turn to finally get her man.
Jameson has known Sam since they were 9 years old and was fiercely protective of her.
As they grew older her knew that she was his forever person and everything he did from then on centred around her and her happiness.
Even to their own detriment Jameson did whatever Sam wanted.
So when their life took an unexpected turn and she pushed him away, he allowed it.
But he never shirked his responsibilities and was always there in the background making her life easier, unbeknownst to Sam.
I enjoyed this story but found that at times Jameson actions sure were questionable, all in the name of love and protection.
This was a spicy story of a lovestruck protective man wanting his woman back in his arms any way he can plus a woman regretting her actions from years before and wondering if she left it too late to be with the man she loves.
An enjoyable storyline with loveable characters.

Rush is Sam Campbell and Jameson Kane’s friends to lovers, second chance, accidental pregnancy story and it’s book three in the in the Saints vs Pirates Series. This is the first book I have read by this author but it won’t be the last because I quickly became invested in this couple, their daughter and their journey.
Sam and Jameson met when they were only children but Jameson knew when he was 15 that Sam was the girl he was going to marry. But Sam walks away when she finds out she is pregnant breaking her own heart as well as his. Fast forward to today and they are all in Minnesota, Sam with her daughter Dylan where she is playing college hockey and Jameson has opened an auto shop to be close to his girls. So will Sam give love another chance and become a family with Jameson and their daughter Dylan…….

From the very beginning, 𝗥𝘂𝘀𝗵 became a comfort read for me, and I’m definitely reading the entire series.
I think I loved this one even more because there was never even a glimpse of forbidden in it. It was unhinged and obsessive, absolutely, but never forbidden—and somehow that made all the difference for me.
I was a little bit—or maybe a lot more—shaken at 76%. But by 94%, when she got him back, I understood the relationship differently. It became so much clearer that the obsession and unhingedness were mutual. She gave just as hard as she got, and that made the whole thing click for me.
Still a 5-star. Loved it. Definitely a favorite read.

This one had a lot going for it! I really enjoyed the childhood-friends-to-lovers dynamic between Sam and Jameson, and the hockey + racing combination was such a fun addition. Jameson’s devotion to Sam was definitely intense, and I loved seeing how determined he was to have her and get her back.
The storylines brought plenty of emotion and conflict, and there were some moments that really pulled me into their journey. That said, some of the decisions frustrated me at times, and Jameson’s unhinged obsession occasionally crossed the line for me. Also, the FMC gives it right back, but they are absolutely unhinged for each other.
Overall, a solid read with plenty of angst, romance, and complicated emotions.

I loved Jameson from the prologue! His devotion to Sam made me love him with every new page in this book. His love, devotion, selfishness, and everything he did for his love made me wish mmc like this existed in real life! 😅
Sam was a good fmc but I would have loved her more if she didnt let her insecurities in the way, but that made her more relatbale.
And Dylan! She was such a cute addition. 💕
I hope we get Isla's book next! I am so intrigued by her character.

This is a story of Sam & Jameson's journey to their happy ending.Not everything goes acording to plan,and raising together a daughter and deal with their past is a long road to forgiving each other,and getting rid of guilt.I liked that while apart they didn't sleep with other people,and Jameson really try to make Sam life easier,even when they are not together.Sam is the only one for him,and he do everything for her to finally realise that they can be a family without a sacrifice.Lots of spice and tension,but also emotional moments that get your heart pounding.A good second chance romance.

Jameson Kane is a possessive and obsessively unhinged MMC. He is a wonderful girl dad to his and Sam’s little girl. He never held Sam back from chasing her dreams and quietly supported her from the sidelines, all the while planning their future, because in his eyes, their separation was always temporary.
Sam was a great mother and her love for Jameson never went away. She just let to many outside obstacles get into her head. Her choices at times are so frustrating but as secrets come out, the way these two fight to be together is everything.

Gotta love a down bad mmc!
This was my first book from Ashton Brooks and I really enjoyed it from start to finish! I liked how the book started out as flashbacks getting to meet Jameson and Sam when they were younger and how much he loved her back then and then in the present where his love for her grew into a bit of an unconventional obsession but he made it clear how much she and their daughter meant to him and he would do anything to get her back... their spice was so hot and off the charts and their love story was so much fun to read! I will definitely be checking out more books from Ashton!
