Love Brothers #1.5

Safe Love: A Love Brothers Companion Novella

Rate this book
Antony Ian Love has a lot on his ample shoulders. He owns and runs a small business, is estranged from his teenaged daughter AliceLynn, his beloved mother is dying of cancer, and he's come face to face with his youngest brother Aiden's sudden reappearance into the Love family circle. Years of sublimating his true self in deep mourning for his long dead wife have hardened the surly, emotional shell he's nurtured, but one woman seems to have broken through. Rosalee Norris is the young widow of Antony's best friend Paul and their mutual sorrow and close friendship has slowly morphed into something more.

Family therapist and recent divorcee Margot Hamilton is dropped into the close-knit Love family by necessity but fate has a real design twist in mind. With her heart and mind closed to anything resembling an emotional connection, Margot is shocked to discover something about Antony the very first time they meet--something she tries, and fails, to resist.

SAFE LOVE, The Love Brothers novella is a tale of love's realistic complications within the saga of family devotion that runs as wide and deep as the Ohio River--except on Sundays when brothers Antony, Kieran, Dominic and Aiden work out their frustrations on the basketball court, Love brother style.

Well...in my review of Love Garage I may have whined about not getting Antony and Margot's POVs...so you can imagine my excitement over Safe Love which provides just that!!

Of course because this follows the same story line as book 1 there is still a huge focus on cheating...which I hated. But it was extremely well written and the characters were extremely well developed.

I hi estly felt that there was a huge growth in the quality of the story and the flow from book 1 to this novella. It could be due to the fact that I already had all of the background from book 1...but I'm not sure.

I will say that I definitely hate Antony a lot less now. Getting his side of things helped quite a bit. He is still a hit of a dick head, but I at least have a better understanding of why he is a dick head.

Overall, this novella was absolutely wonderful and I definitely recommend it! Head on over to Amazon and give it a go, while I start on book 2!

Book 1.5 in the brilliant Love Brothers series. This is a companion Novella to book 1, Love Garage and in my opinion should be read after book 1. If you haven't read Love Garage, this review may contain some spoilers.

Having been lucky enough to have been an early reader on this series, I admit to having had a few lingering questions after book 1; specifically about Anthony.

Anthony is the oldest Love sibling. Father to a teenage daughter and widowed at a young age has left him bitter at the world. He takes his job as brother in charge seriously and his brothers and sister turn to him and see him as the strong, dependable and in control one. Anthony struggles though with his daughter and the loss of his college sweetheart wife. Life as a man in control is becoming a burden and he misses the escapism that kept his life balanced in the past.

When his friends widowed wife becomes more than just a friend, he see this as something that may just bring back the part of him that was missing. However when his youngest brother comes back to town uncertainty starts to creep its way in.

Will he ever rediscover his true self? Can he be the father that he should be for his errant daughter? and will he remain the brother his family need him to be?

What a fabulous addition to this series. It is no secret that I love Liz's writing, the real life spin she puts into her romance books is a breath of fresh air. Liz never likes to leave a stone unturned and by writing this book she really has made sure that we get to know the true Anthony Love.

After reading Love Garage I can't say I was a huge Anthony fan. I was so "Team Aiden" that I in some respects disregarded Anthony as the older, overbearing, control freak brother. How wrong was I! I'm not going to say too much as the beauty of Liz's writing is the wonderful pathways she weaves and travelling them as a reader. What I will say is that Anthony struggles to maintain control of his life and misses not just his wife but the outlet she provided him with. I came out of this book not just knowing him, but loving the deep, sensitive and struggling man that he is.

Of course we also find out more about Margot Hamilton, who we knew very little about after book 1. I enjoyed getting to know her and seeing both her and Anthony's side of the complicated love story that is so entwined with Aiden and Rosie's. You now get to see the Love that both couples experience and for some it will make the whole affair a lot more palatable. Although that was never an issue for me, I love a bit of a Love triangle/square; that's real life I'm afraid.

A MUST READ companion Novella in a series of family drama, love and real life issues - Liz Crowe at her finest!

You definitely need to read Love Garage, the first in the Love Brothers series by Liz Crowe, prior to reading this novella. Liz also has a special treat at the end of this story.

This story provides a little more detail about the relationships in the Love family and focuses more on Antony and Margo, the therapist Mama Love met and asked to work with Antony. You can see from the blurbs for Love Garage and this novella that Antony lost his beloved wife, and during his depression, his parents took on the responsibility for his daughter for several years. AliceLynn is now a teenager and he doesn’t have a clue how to connect with her.

When he first meets Margo, there is some connection that both feel but back away from each other. I don’t want to give away the reason for the connection but it is definitely a twist.

Liz wanted to write a more mainstream/formulaic, romance story and series, and to a certain point, she has succeeded. But in true Liz fashion, she had to add more depth, more conflict, and more heartbreaking issues in this large family. You never finish one of her stories and are unable to let go of the characters. I love this new series, set in Kentucky, and about the four Love Brothers, their sister, parents, and several other characters. I fell in love with Liz’s writing more than 2 years ago when I first read Floor Time, the first book in her Stewart Realty series. To this day, I still feel the pull to return to the stories and the characters.

Hello future readers... well as I promised here is my update from my review of Love Garage Love Garage (Love Brothers, #1) by Liz Crowe .... as I suspected Safe Love is the book that helps fill in those gaps I talked about in Love Garage. Let me just say that having read Love Garage... I totally didn't see what type of relationship Antony needed and what type of relationship Margot was providing him.

I understand why Mrs. Crowe doesn't wish to combine these two books into one and I don't really know if it would work... but I think that a lot of readers will be lost (not willing to read on and work out of the bog down you get in Love Garage with it setting you up for the whole series to follow). I hope future readers that you will give this series a chance. I feel that Mrs. Crowe finds her voice in this book and while it is meant to be the book AFTER you read Love Garage, you will be able to find this book for free on Amazon soon.

As always, I really am grateful for this opportunity to review Mrs. Crowe's hard work in exchange for my fair and honest review. I plan to keep reading her works because I know at some point all these moments of genius writing will come together and be the book that sets all the other books out there on their ears!

Happy Reading!

As is the normal for one of Liz’s books she pulls you in and doesn’t let you go. When I got to the end of this book I wanted it to go on and on, I am never ready to let go of one of her characters they are all full of life and bring so much to the story. It is always hard to pick your favorite one each are wonderful and unique in their own ways. I totally loved this story it fills in so many questions from book 1. This was a wonderful read but Love Garage should be read first.

This addition gives you the reuniting of a father and a daughter as well as more information on 2 couples in Love's Garage and how they get together. It fills in the blanks from the first book and gives you a few new twists that you just do not see coming. The book does leave you wanting more and you’re not ready for it to stop. At first I thought it was a cliffhanger, I had to back up my brain to remember how the last book ended. I truly loved this part of the series, you can fill so much emotion as Liz always puts in her stories. Antony has a few secretes that come to light with these new twists you think OH MY, OH MY. Margot has a few shocks to send us as well.

This was a 5 star read all the way with a great plot, a little mystery and the love/hate relationships of The Love Brothers.

I loved this book. Being that it is a companion novella to Love Garage I can't say much without giving it away.
If you have read Love Garage you know the people involved in this novella. Antony, Rosie, Aiden and Margot.
This story delves into what transpired between the four of them and how they ended up with who they ended up with, if you know what I mean.
One of the great things about this novella was that we got a bit more insight into Antony and his relationship with his daughter, AliceLynn. We also got to hear a bit about his first marriage and saw how it shaped him for future relationships.
So if you have read Love Garage, then you need to read this to fully understand how things happened. You wont regret it.

4.5 STARS!

For those of you that have read Love Garage (Book #1) and have lingering questions (hands up) this is the novella that clears everything up for you.

We met Antony Love, the hero of the Love family that takes all the weight and responsibilities on his shoulders. When Antony meets therapist Margot everything changes and the family is forced to look at Antony in a whole new light as cracks appear and the family dynamic is on the verge of shattering.

Definitely worth reading, but make sure Love Garage is on your list first!

Yes I am a Liz Crowe Fan girl and the reason is simple, she always gives me twist that I never see coming. NEVER.SEE.COMING. This is a little nugget to let readers know the story behind the reuniting of a father and a daughter as well as how two different couples in Love's Garage get together. There is an interesting little twist for Anthony, my favorite Love brother, that I NEVER saw coming. NEVER. Another character has a nice little kink that makes me need more stories about both characters. READ THIS NOVELLA AFTER READING LOVES GARAGE. Good Stuff.

Finally we get to see what goes on in Anthony's mind. During the first book- Garage Love, we learn a lot about Anthony and his past. We see him interacting with his fiance and his daughter, but finally we get to learn his motives and thoughts.

This short novella is a perfect companion to the Love Brothers series but DO NOT read it until after Love Garage. You will learn spoilers that will share important plot points from the first book.

A must read for fans of the Love Brothers' Series.

Warning - be sure to read "Love Garage" first, otherwise Safe Love will spoil it for you.

I liked reading the other side of the story. It was fun to see how Antony and Margot got together and learn more about what's going on in Antony's head. Definitely a great addition to the series.

Oooohhhh, Safe Love was everything you wanted to know about Antony but were afraid to ask! This companion novella to Love Garage fills in the gaps and 'assumed' spaces with a somewhat delightfully spicy twist! I was happily shocked at the direction this author chose for explaining Margot's backstory! Love, and a perfect five stars!

I loved that Liz wrote this book!! It gives you more pieces that fit with book 1 perfectly! There are some twists which I always love because I am like "what?!" Lol. It's always awesome when a book pulls out loud reactions from a person and this book def does that!

Again, be sure to read after book 1 from the series

Liz writes with great passion, drama and wonderful surprise twists. I love the way she describes the people and places. I can clearly see them when I read.

I read this novella which is Margot Hamilton’s story. I thoroughly enjoyed Liz showing us how she fits. I thought it filled in some information nicely.

We've met responsible Antony in Love Garage when he took in his brother Aiden and watched him fall in love with Rosalee, losing what he thought was something more than just a close friendship. Facing more than his share of problems, mourning the death of his wife, his estrangement to his daughter and having to support his family while his mother battles cancer, Antony turns to Margot for help and slowly their love story begins, Safe Love is a novella that must be considered as a companionship. That is to say that you should read this novel AFTER that you've read Love Garage as it contains spoilers and further explains scenes that are in the previous novel. Once again, Liz Crowe keeps her Love family close to heart and home, her Love Brothers series still one that should be read and added to your to be read list.

Safe Love was a 5 star read.
Romance, Hot Alphas

“I...I love you,” he muttered into her bare shoulder as he rubbed against her like some horny dog in the yard.

What a great addition to the Love Garage, you should read this right after book 1..

You will definitely want to begin the series with Love Garage and follow all of the family through to Family Love, where you will see all of the main characters, their spouses and children. You will get a real life HEA from this author.

In book 1.5 of this series, we are getting Antony's point of view on things. We are starting off with them at some event at his boyhood home, with Rosie there with him, when Antony starts doing his PDA's that he did not normally like to show. The look we're getting is Antony's point of view when Margot first makes her appearance with the family, at their gathering to find out what is going on with Lindsay, their mom. There is also a good look at Margot's failing/failed marriage side of things, through her memories of things her husband did or said to her and how it affected her. Wow, we 'really' learn about Margot and who and what she is or was in her marriage to her now ex-husband Gavin. We get insight into Antony's surliness and grumpy butt and his inner mental workings as to why he is such a jerk to everyone that does not deserve it. Really getting to see what Antony had with his dead wife Crystal, and what she did for him in their personal life, taking control of certain things around the house. Clearly he needs that again and is now confronted with it and he runs from it, knowing he was happiest when he had the ability to give up control in certain aspects, feeling like a failure. I can understand why he might feel that way, but at the same time, don't all parents, especially when they do not understand their children? Read this book, it ends right after Margot takes AliceLynn with Mark, the cop, to Rosie's house. It really was a great look into his side of things. I look forward to #2, Coach Love.

This is a novella to the series and must be read after Love Garage the first book. It starts when Margot is invited to the family bbq and meets everyone and then goes from there with Antony and Margot’s perspective and their story of how they end up together. I really liked reading their story and how it evolved. It was interesting reading their struggle and how they felt during the process. I really love books that offer the same story but from someone else prospective. You learn more about Margot and how and why she is a better fit for Antony. She connects is Antony’s daughter so well and feels a naturally motherly affection for her that Rosalee didn’t seem to have. The same way that Aiden seems to connect more with Rosalee’s son Jeffrey more than Antony did. This book is fairly quick read at about 80 pages. I love all the characters in this series so getting to read more about the first book was great. I am looking forward to second the second book next and seeing where the story goes from there. I am completely pulled into this series. Liz Crowe is a great author.

In this novella in the Love Brothers series we find Antony Ian Love has a lot on his shoulders. As the owner of a small business, he must deal with his estranged teenage daughter AliceLynn who has been getting into trouble as his beloved mother is dying of cancer. Also he must deal with his youngest brother Aiden sudden reappearance into the Love family circle. After years of in deep mourning for his long dead wife which has hardened him. But one woman seems to have broken through him Rosalee Norris the young widow of Antony's best friend Paul as they share their mutual sorrow as a close friendship has slowly turned into something more.

Family therapist and divorcee Margot Hamilton is dropped into the lives of the close-knit Love family. As fate draws them together as she learns something that she cannot resist about him. Nothing is quite it appears.

The Love family dynamics is never straightforward nor their road to happiness

I am glad that I read Love Garage first and, I really enjoyed this story. We got to meet more of the Love Brothers in this Novella. We also got to read more about Antony’s & his daughters (AliceLynn) therapy sessions with Margot Hamilton. I have to say that Safe Love held my attention more and I can’t wait to continue on with the Love Brothers story!

Oh and there is a little cliffhanger in this Novella. Fortunately, the next book Coach Love is out and I can start reading it as soon as I finish this review.

This novella is more of Antony's story from book one, Love Garage. It explained a lot of things that were just hinted at in Love Garage. Even though I know how things ended up with Antony, I still felt the ending of Safe Love was just too abrupt. I still would recommend this series as I really enjoyed it.
