A vibrant, modern sword-and-sorcery pulp-fantasy about a storytelling tribe trying to reclaim their lost powers in a world ravaged by magic and monsters. It feels colored in shades of Dark Souls and the wildness of tabletop RPGs, with a deep fantasy world that has plenty of its own ideas and insights.
There’s some terrific writing here, particularly in the way the story uses myth, storytelling, and the tribe’s lost history to build out its world and comment on the stories that have come before. Strange, imaginative and full of energy.
