Vera Ashford who was forced into the marriage by her father. Vera is the oldest daughter of mafia boss Vincent Ashford. Dimitri only agreed to the marriage to punish Vera. He sees her as a pawn/bargaining chip to could be useful in the family's war. She's his bargaining chip he locks inside his fortress and mistreated. Dimitri and Vincent had a meeting to negotiate about territories. He sent is brother in his place because he had other important issues that needed his attention. However, during the meeting something happened where his brother was ambushed and murdered. Dimitri is riddle with guilt over loss of his brother.
Because he was one who was supposed to be there. You see although the Ashford's and the Volkov family were enemies Vera and Alexei were dating in secret; and she's now pregnant with his child. It's one of the secret that she's carrying and Dimitri is unaware of because she was too afraid to disclose. Initially Dimitri was very mean and abusive towards her but eventually that hate and need to punish her turns into something else a passion that burns bright before long they couldn't keep their hands off of each other. Every night Dimitri claim her like she already belongs to him. And every day he watches her like he's deciding whether to break her or keep her. They never expected to start falling for each other. And when the bullets started flying around them he must make a choice and he chooses her. And when he learns the truth he doesn't let her go.
He say the baby his Volkov blood and that make it his. And then the lies starts to unravel, it turns out that the brother he buried and have been grieving for his very much alive and he's coming for his child and Dimitri. Alexei and his uncle Konstantin was trying to get rid of Dimitri because Konstantin wants his place of leading the family. And the two concocted the whole thing and frame the Ashford's. The two must work together in order to eliminate the perpetrator even if the culprit was family. It's fight for survival with their enemy being someone who they both love with surprises after surprises unraveling. They learn that they were more powerful working together then against each to defeat their shared enemy. A great addition to the series. I devoured every single detail of this book and highly recommend it.

Finding Love in the Midst of Darkness -
Vera was still grieving the loss of her baby daddy when her father told her she would be marrying her baby daddy’s brother as part of an alliance. Dimitri only agreed to the marriage alliance so he could torture the daughter of the person he blamed for his brother’s death. Even though Dimitri had sworn to hate Vera, he soon realised his attraction for her was growing, especially after discovering she was carrying his deceased brother’s baby. However, Vera and Dimitri’s life didn’t run smoothly, as they found themselves in the middle of a few near fatal incidents.

Unfortunately, just as Vera and Dimitri managed to settle into their lives, they discovered there were traitors in their midst, but before they could verify everything, they found themselves in a life-threatening situation. Nevertheless, Dimitri did everything possible to present the evidence to both families and managed to convince them to help him deal with the situation. As luck would have it, Vera came up with a plan, that would allow both families to work together to deal with the problem permanently and give her and Dimitri a chance to get back on track towards their happy future.

Firstly, I have to say Ajme Williams has confirmed again with this awesome story, that her talent for making the characters in her stories comes alive on the page is exceptional. It took me an entire afternoon of no distractions to finish reading this book and I can say with a shadow of doubt, that every second spent reading this book was really worth it. I urge you to grab a copy of this book if you are interested in reading a fantastic mafia romance with an unexpected twist, that you will be very happy to recommend.

This book had to be the best in the series so far. I loved both Dimitri and Vera. They had so much to battle through but made it.

Vera had an forbidden affair with Alexei who is murdered, but then she is forced to marry Alexei's Mafia brother, Dimitri.

The twists and u turns in this book made this so compelling i couldn't put it down. Dimitri was this tough and possessive Mafia leader who was dealing with so much, but he becomes very protective of his wife Vera after trouble starts coming for them.

But that chemistry shines through from the very start. Yes there is friction but the fascination and attraction is super strong and acts like a magnet between them.

Danger, drama twists and suspense along with intimate moments that added excitement

Hostile Husband is an amazingly well-written suspenseful story. I enjoyed it so much and could not put it down.

Vera is pregnant when her Alexei is killed. They had been carrying on a secret relationship since their families are rivals. Vera is now arranged to marry his older brother, Dimitri, to help align their families. Once the marriage is done Vera and Dimitri grow closer. Vera starts to have real feelings for Dimitri but doesn't trust him to tell him about her baby. She is afraid he will kill her or do something with the baby.

I absolutely loved this story. Vera was such a strong character. She did what she had to do to protect her growing baby. Dimitri was such a surprise in the way he handled finding out about Vera's pregnancy. Their story is filled with twists and turns you will not see coming. I look forward to the next story.

Dimitri and Vera should despise each other but her finery spirit and refusal to be afraid of Dimitri unexpectedly draws him in. Vera can’t believe she’s attracted to him but the chemistry is unavoidable. Their relationship is beyond complicated especially when it’s created in the midst of betrayal, fear, danger and grief. This is a book you’ll want to read cover to cover as fast as possible!.

Part of the Mafia Lords of Sin and my favorite of the stories to date. This story is about Dimitri and Vera -- an arranged marriage between rival families to keep the peace. However, we learn that it was all set up by Alexei, Dimitri's brother, along with Konstantine, Dimitri's uncle in a plot to take over the family from Dimitri. In the beginning, it is thought that Alexei was dead and he happened to be Vera's boyfriend, unknown to Dimitri. I didn't read the blurb, so I was completely surprised to learn that Alexei was alive all along.

A very intriguing story that had me totally engaged until the end. The evolution of Dimitri and Vera's relationship was fraught with hate, guilt over developing feelings, family betrayal (his), family support (hers), and a true HEA in the end.

Blindsided!

This is what feel when I finished reading this story,Blindsided! Dimitri love his brother Alexia so much but his death changes his life.To stop a war he has to marry a Ashford so he marries Vera who has a secert or two.She trys to make the best of it,Dimitri treats her unkindly and stays away her has much he can until he finds the secrets she has hidden.There is alot of jealousy, greed in story and there is second chances too but it has to be fought for not once but twice and Dimitri and Vera are willing to fight together for it.I she'd a few tear towards the end where Dimitri had to make a painful decision again.This story was worth more than five stars,two very strong independent people,fighting each other then has a couple.To fighting that's and coming out on top!

This book was amazing. It had you hooked from the start and it normally means this book is going to draw you in and make you a part of the story. It makes you feel like you’re there in the book and watching it, rather than reading it. The storyline was well good, as I never sure this twists coming. I thought it was someone else causing all the problems. I was wrong lol but that was a good thing. I liked the characters Dimitri and Vera. Dimitri was not who I thought he was and he surprised me. I liked how he changed for the better and how he got there. Vera was a surprise too, I loved how she became a bad arse. I loved how she stood by Dimitri in the end and stood up for herself. This book was amazing and I loved the ending, what an ending. I really didn’t see this coming. Highly recommend.

This is latest book in the Mafia Lords of Sin series and in this one, we are introduced to Alexia and Dimitri. I've read plenty of these mafia romances (including every single book in this series thus far) and whenever there is as pregnancy, it's usually secret and the baby daddy (MMC) is usually unaware of his progeny until waaayyy later. But in this one, the pregnancy didn't belong to the MMC, but his deceased brother. However, he insists blood is blood and considers the child his. Now, who can resist that? Especially if that come inside a package that's so incredibly mouthwatering that you won't be able to think straight every time he walks into any room you're in. The story was dark, decadent, touching, and refreshing. I really enjoyed this one. I would highly recommend it.

What should of been a peaceful negotiation on territories between the Ashfords and Volkov's turns into an ambush and Dimitri's brother Alexei murdered. Out for blood Dimitri has vowed to make them all pay. To stop a war Vera is forced to marry Dimitri who has no clue she was secretly dating his brother Alexei and pregnant with his child.
This is a well written dark, dangerous, deadly mafia romance with many twist, turns, betrayals, manipulation and shocking revelations.

She is carrying a secret; Alexei was her boyfriend and left her with a parting gift. Dimitri is not kind to his new bride and stays away until her secret reveals itself. There are a lot of betrayals including, Alexei was working with his uncle to remove Dimitri as head and he is still alive. There is a lot of tension between the pair and then with outside forces against the pair.

This is the story of Dimitri and Vera. Both are from mafia family’s but, a war is brewing between the two when someone from Vera’s family murders Dimitri’s younger brother Aleksai. In order to avoid a war between the families, Vera’s dad gives her to Dimitri in marriage.

What neither family knows is that Vera and Aleksai had been seeing each other for 8 months and she’s discovered she’s pregnant with his child just before his execution. Now forced to marry Dimitri, can the two families bridge the gap and can Dimitri and Vera find a happily ever after…. Read to find out.

This was another good book by this author. She’s very descriptive and believable in her prose. I loved both main characters. 5🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

This story starts with a death and a funeral. Dimitri's brother Alexi is being laid to rest, killed by his enemies. Vera dated Alexi and is now pregnant and alone. To save her family from a war she marries Dimitri. Vera is grieving Alexi and trying to figure out how to survive her marriage. This is their story full of danger, violence and unbelievable chemistry. I love that the characters are complex. Happy ever after ending.

This is a great addition to Williams' Mafia Lords of Sin series and can be read as a standalone. Our main characters are Vera and Dimitri. Married by obligation to keep the peace among their families, things quickly dissolve or escalate depending on your perspective. I love the complexity of these characters and Williams delivers a captivating, dark, dangerous and sensual storyline full of betrayal, and violence but also joy and hope. So enjoyed this book and looking forward to more!

Hmmmm reading others reviews I’m kind of scared. Was that book really written using AI ? If it was I’ll have to backtrack and give this book 1 star, because why would you taint art by using such a soulless, harmful, useless medium ? I did see some inconsistencies in the writing, namely some details that weren’t matching the current scene: eg Talking about a bed when they were in an office, talking about a bombing multiple times, when what happened was a shooting. And then backtrack and talk about a shooting. I did think that it was due to lack of re reading and lack of editing, which I hope it was all due to because I would have hate to have wasted my time on a AI slop.

I hope like hell that it wasn’t written using AI because I was planning on buying it for my physical shelf 😀

I loved the couple and how much they grew throughout their relationship, Vera was kind of too compliant at the beginning. But was able to grew and become way more confident and assertive which I loved. She was also smart, stubborn and strong headed: a really good character overall.

Dimitri was the exact type of MMC you hope to read about when you open a Dark mafia book. He was a terrifying character at first towards Vera, but also got to go through his incredible growth character development. He was such a possessive, loving, caring character. Once again I don’t know which one of the MCs I wanted for myself.

The plot was interesting, but really easy to tell from the start. Even more so when the author kept pushing the same details over over and over again but only the MMC wasn’t able to see or really acknowledge them.

Thankfully I finally get to read a GOOD slow burn romance, insta love in that context would have been completely ridiculous (like in a lot of dark mafia truthfully, but to each their own). But if you don’t like slow burn you might not appreciate it as much

The writing could have been better at times, because a lot of things were repeated, unnecessarily, in the same page. And was also a bit too over described, again, unnecessarily. But I did remember from another book from her that I read, that she used to do the same mistakes. So I cross all my fingers that it was truly human made, but I’m starting to doubt it seeing how close her books releasing dates are lately 😀

I loved this book but if I learned that it was really written using AI I’ll be truly and utterly devastated by the deception at play.

This story really caught me off guard when I first started reading it. Dimitri's hatred for Vera's family is intense. Her family is responsible for his brother's death, and he's determined to make them pay. What better way than marrying Vera and taking revenge on her and her family? Vera, however, has a secret that could destroy her entire world. She knows Dimitri is using her for revenge, but what happens when feelings start to develop? And the biggest shock comes when the truth about his brother's murder is finally revealed. And wow, it’s a shocker. I loved this book.

Enemy to lovers mafia romance with forced proximity. Omg I loved this book I couldn't get enough of it the plot twists were easy to spot but I really liked that as you got little tid bits of what was to happen thoughout the book it was such an easy bingable read that I will 100% be thinking about for months to come if you love a mafia romance this is definitely one you should pick up.

Dimitri is out for revenge for his brothers murder, and he sets his sights on Vera, she was in love with Alexei and ends up pregnant before he was k*lled, and now shes forced to marry his brother, but nothings truly as it seems. As the dead come back to claim whats theres where will it leace Dimitri and Vera? Well written the story is well paced engaging steamy, push and pull captive forced marriage and more.

It started with a death - but it was all built on lies !!! Vera's father agrees to an arranged marriage with Dimitri Volkov in order to prevent a war. But Dimitri only agreed to the arrangement as a way to extract revenge against the Ashford family for killing his younger brother. In the background, other forces are at work - conspiring, manipulating and steering the plot into a distorted view that's not quite right. A very good book !!!

"Done deal." What an emotional ride reading Vera's character. Take out the mafia aspect and just put in regular day to day life, and it's an excruciatingly complex set of emotions that our FMC goes through. It was definitely a seat of the pants read, you did not know what was going to happen next. Keep me engaged from page one, right until the very end. Loved it. The chemistry of these two characters was definitely "fire".
