I swear, the second Delphina stepped onto the page, I felt like she was carrying the emotional equivalent of a carry‑on bag that’s been overstuffed since 2019. She’s a therapeutic storyteller — which already sounds like a job that requires three degrees and a spiritual support animal — and she’s sworn off men like they’re gluten. And honestly? Fair.

Then her mum Lucia drags her to Las Vegas to help run an exclusive speed‑dating event, and the vibes are peak chaos. Vegas is loud, sparkly, and spiritually unhinged, and Delphina is trying to be professional while also avoiding the entire male population.

Enter Alexander O’Hara.

A CFO.
A man with secrets.
A man who walks into the speed‑dating event like he’s about to file taxes and accidentally finds romance instead.

Their connection? Immediate.
Their date? Cute.
Their return to Boston? Adorable.
Their love blossoming? Chef’s kiss.

And then — because the universe hates happiness — Alex goes to Dubai for work, and Delphina’s past slithers back in like a dodgy email attachment. Her ex shows up, her brain short‑circuits, and she makes the worst decision of her entire romantic career by breaking up with Alex.

The second‑chance meltdown energy?
Peak.
Peak chaos.
Peak “girl, NO.”

She goes on a few dates with the ex, realises he’s still the same emotional pothole he always was, and suddenly Delphina is like, “Oh no… I’ve made a mistake.”
Yes, babe.
Yes, you did.

So she does what any dramatic, creative, deeply determined woman would do:
She weaponises storytelling.

She spins tales based on truth.
She records videos.
She sends them across the internet like emotional carrier pigeons.
She tries to win Alex back with narrative therapy and romantic monologues.

And honestly? It WORKS.
Because Alex is a grown man with emotional depth, and Delphina is a storyteller who finally remembers her own worth.

The book is warm, faith‑tinged, romantic, and full of that “love can be repaired if you actually try” energy. The settings — Vegas, Boston, Dubai — feel like emotional postcards. The characters feel real. The second‑chance arc hits beautifully.

A 4–4.5 star read — heartfelt, hopeful, dramatic in the best way, and absolutely perfect if you love romance with maturity, creativity, and a heroine who learns to stop running from the good thing right in front of her.

This is just the kind of read I needed without knowing I needed it 😉

Delphina you have a beautiful name and the way you work as a therapist is unique and I think you inherited a lot of who you from your mother Lucia 🥰

Delphina wants her ex , Alex , back and she needs to win him over having been confused and led astray by someone from her past and she goes about it in the most extraordinary and creative way 😉

I must admit I felt really well travelled once I read this 😜but also His love and forgiveness shines through the characters and their situations . The characters are so relatable not struggles , personally and as a couple and you can’t help but love them 🥰 you want to spend time with them and get to know them better and their growth is a gift to be a part of 🤗

Mesmerize was such a fun read! I really enjoyed getting pulled into the story and watching everything unfold. The characters kept me invested, and there was enough mystery, emotion, and tension to keep me turning the pages. It definitely had those moments where I thought I knew where things were going, only to be surprised. 😂 Overall, it was an entertaining read that kept me hooked, and I'm glad I picked it up!

This book was good. Delphina is a therapeutic storyteller. She has sworn off men. She travels to Las Vegas with her mother, and that is where she meets Alex. These two end up dating and everything‘s going great until he leaves on a business trip. Delphina breaks it off and after a while she realizes a big mistake. Can she win his heart back?

Mesmerize is a modern romance with traaditional threads weaving a story of intrigue, beauty and betrayal. With its heroine, a story-telling Sheherazade, its hero a traveler to Dubai and a mother-daughter pair with its own complex features, the novel unfolds through conflicts of the heart and spirit, sparkling with details that delight the senses.

Darlene Corbett's second novel is a stylishly crafted tale of love and redemption. Who can resist?

Mesmerize is a love story woven with originality and well-crafted descriptions, told in Darlene Corbett's lyrical style. I loved the way she delved into the characters' thoughts and lives as they each wrestled with their past hurts. Their new relationship was like a delicate dance. You won't be bored by this lovely story of flawed people facing their own barriers to love and overcoming them.

Christian Contemporary Romance is a genre that I enjoy reading. Mesmerize by Darlene Corbett is the latest book that I have read.

I dove right into the book and the storyline grabbed my interest immediately. The main characters in this book are Delphina Tulasi, a therapist and storyteller and Alexander O’Hara, a CFO of his own. Delphina is not interested in a relationship, yet her mother is a matchmaker. Delphina attends an event with her mom and her mom has arranged for Alex to be there also. Delphina and Alex are matched together and they begin a relationship in Las Vegas and they take it back home to Boston. They seem secure in their new relationship, until Alex takes a trip to Dubai. The moment Delphina decides to allow a person from her past back into her life, she isn't secure with the relationship with Alex anymore. I really like that Delphina begins to understand that life isn't "greener on the other side" and ends the relationship with her Ex. She thought she has lost any chance with Alex, she puts up a strong fight to get him back. I thought the book was a story about Forgiveness, True Love, Determination and so much more. I HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Christian Romance. GREAT BOOK!

I did not know what to expect from this novel. However, it was a very interesting romance of two people who have both been deeply hurt in the past falling for their soul mates at first glance. It was just going to take a bit for both be on the same page. Many hurts and lies need to be untangled in this unconventional love story.

I really appreciated seeing hints of Greek mythology sprinkled throughout, even a bit of a Joseph story. This is the story of Delphina, a storyteller, and the man, Alex, whom she falls in love with and eventually ends up running away from. This is a story of making colossal mistakes and the forgiveness that can cover a multitude of sins.

Even though Delphina did hurt Alex, I really enjoyed her way of trying to win him back, it was through storytelling, like the legend of Scheherazade one of the most famous storytellers. If you enjoy ancient stories brought to life in a contemporary romance, this is a unique one. Very different than anything I have read before.

I was provided a copy of this novel by the author. I was not required to post a positive review, and all views and opinions are my own.

Mesmerize by Darlene Corbett blends Christian romance, personal growth, and a touch of emotion. The novel follows Delphina Tulasi, who travels to Las Vegas to help her matchmaking mother run a speed-dating event. There, she meets Alexander O’Hara, a reserved yet magnetic businessman whose guarded demeanour hides a complicated past. Their connection is immediate, but just as sparks begin to fly, Alexander has to depart on a business trip, creating a bit of a rift that gets more complicated when her past resurfaces.
The heart of the book lies in Delphina’s determination to win him back - not through grand gestures alone, but by weaving faith-filled, redemptive stories that mirror their own struggles. Along the way, themes of trust, forgiveness, and self-discovery emerge, giving the story a few more layers.
While the premise is charming and the emotional beats were sincere, I didn’t fully connect with the characters the way I would have liked and therefore wasn’t invested in them and the outcome of their story – which frustrated me …. so maybe I will need to revisit this book again soon and see if I still feel the same way, or maybe instead I will find I was just having an ‘off’ reading day this time around.
Happy Reading…

The last thing Delphina expected, after swearing off men, was to connect with Alexander O’Hara at a speed-dating event she was helping her mother with - but she does. Her past, though, refuses to stay where it's supposed to be, and when Alex goes on a long business trip, doubt slips in, causing Delphina to fall into old patterns and leave behind the magical connection she found with O’Hara. Realising her mistake, she becomes determined to win Alex back in the only way she knows how: by telling him stories full of truth, full of her heart, till he falls in love with her again.

While the premise of this book is really interesting, unfortunately it really didn't land for me. I'm not sure what it was, but I just really couldn't connect with Delphina, and at times I felt that the writing was a little too scattered for me, with scenes seeming to go off in a lot of different directions all at once. Sometimes this can be effective, but this time it just didn't land. There were some amusing moments, as well as cute and sweet scenes that warmed my heart, but overall I just really struggled with this.
I would recommend this to someone who is looking for a romantic read about finding out what you truly want in life and the power of stories.

Okay, this one sounds like a really fun romance with just the right amount of messiness. I don’t read a ton of books in the Christian fiction genre, but this one has definitely got me on board! It was light but fun, romantic but clean. Our main character, Delphina, is a therapist who uses storytelling, and has basically given up on men after getting badly betrayed. That already feels super relatable, right? She is a great character and getting to see her going through these situations was entertaining. Alex, a successful CFO with a few secrets of his own, shows up and suddenly she’s falling for him. I liked that their relationship takes them from Vegas to Boston and then gets complicated for a bit. Things really go sideways when she ends up going back to her ex, even though Alex is the person she actually loves. I was definitely sitting there thinking, girl, what are you doing?! This book has it all. Romance, family matchmaking, travel, faith, and enough drama to keep things moving without feeling like the same love story you’ve read a hundred times. If you’re in the mood for a sweet, slightly chaotic romance, I’d give this one a try.

4 of 5 Stars.

I really enjoyed this heartwarming and engaging romance, and it kept me happily turning the pages. The descriptive narrative brings the settings of, Las Vegas, Boston, and Dubai vividly to life. Therapeutic storyteller Delphina is set on winning back the love of her life. Delphina meets Alex at an exclusive speed-dating event, run by her matchmaker mother, Lucia. The pair date and their relationship develops, and love seems on the cards. However, whilst Alex is away on business, Delphina catches up with someone from her past, and is drawn back into a relationship with him. Having broken up with Alex, Delphina realises, after a few dates with her ex, that she has made a huge mistake. Using her creativity, Delphina is determined to win Alex back, by spinning stories based on truth and sending them in videos across the internet. I love Delphina and Alex, they are both likeable and very relatable characters, whose chemistry and connection comes across in the story. I was cheering them on hoping they would get their HEA.

Mesmerize is storytelling at its finest; the author drew me in right from the beginning and held me captive all the way through. I love that one of our main characters, Delphina, is a therapist who heals through the power of being a storyteller who encourages her patients to find the good in their own lives by retelling their stories. It is such a wonderful skill to have, especially as Delphina must use her own skills of storytelling to try and win back the love of her life, Alex, after breaking up with him to try and rekindle a bad romance with her ex. As she sees the light in this huge mistake, she must now seek to use her skills as a storyteller and her faith to hope that it isn't too late to win back the love that she has tossed aside for someone not worthy of her love. I absolutely loved reading this story; it had so many amazing morals on healing from the inside and learning from our mistakes so that we may move on with our lives and not live in the past of our regrets.

𝐌𝐞𝐬𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐳𝐞 is a sweet Christian romance with heart. Delphina and Alexander are easy to relate to. They have a strong connection, and their story is full of love, faith, and real challenges. I also liked the family relationships, especially Lucia, who brings a lot of warmth and wisdom to the story.

The writing is easy to enjoy, and the story is uplifting. It brings together romance, family, and faith in a simple yet meaningful way. Themes like forgiveness, healing, and trusting God make this story even more special.

This is a lovely book, the first I’ve read by this author, and I’m happy to recommend it.

First Line: Delphina flicked her wrist, unfurling the delicate folds of her fan like a peacock spreading its plumage.

This book has been a challenge for me only because I got so caught up in the story I almost felt like I was living it with Delphina. She is a complex person only because she has so many untold stories stored up in her mind. She is gifted and fills pages with words that captures her audience well.

The title is a great fit as Delphina is mesmerized by Alex. They instantly connect and you can feel them both start to relax around each other. I loved how patient and kind Alex is as he begins to let his guard down as well as Delphina does. It is hard to get back out there when your heart has been crushed.

I enjoyed following these two characters as they go through trials, forgiveness and trusting God. A beautiful story that rediscovers that making a mistake helps you grow and be more intentional in life.

I received a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit. The review is my own opinion.

This story is by an author that is new for me. I enjoyed their creative characters that are written with a lot of heart and soul. The author’s use of details not only had me coming back for more but I had no problems picturing myself in their world. This is a story about Delphina and how she decides she wants her ex back. She uses her creativity with videos about them but will her plan work? I enjoyed all the characters in this story. They are strong, connectable and well developed. They will show you what a little faith will do for you when you believe. These characters had me wanting to know more about them and what would happen. I wanted to see them get their second chance at romance for sure. I enjoyed watching their relationship grow throughout. I found this story entertaining and easy to read. This is a fast paced, hard to put down and one you don’t want to miss. I look forward to reading more from this author. I highly recommend this story.

Mesmerize by Darlene Corbett. This is a clean Christian romance about a lady named Delphina who is a therapeutic storyteller who has sworn off men. When Delphina's mom talks her into a trip to Vegas to help run a speed dating event. Delphina has no clue that she might just meet the man of her dreams. Enter Alex, Alex is very business like and is always on business time. He goes into the speed dating event like its a job. Alex and Delphina hit it off immediately and begin dating just about the same time Alex gets called to Dubai for work. While he's gone Delphina's ex comes back to town and she does the dumbest thing ever, she breaks up with Alex. After a few dates with her ex she knows 100% that she messed up. She will do whatever it takes to win Alex back including using her work for love. She sends him emails, videos and messages that are love bombing him. Will Alex see the light and let Delphina back in his life? Read this sweet romance to find out!

Mesmerize is a story that lights up your senses with things like the scents of florals and perfume and even people, sounds like a harp and a cellist and a Middle Eastern band, visual interests like a classical Chinese dance show and gazes that rake over a handsome or beautiful body, and textual sensations like a Hungarian scrub and a hot stone massage.

This is no ordinary romance. It’s neither formulaic nor shallow. It’s a deep, intellectually satisfying, emotionally fulfilling story with thought-provoking themes of truth and forgiveness and doing things God’s way in a secular world. Awesome read, five stars!

Mesmerize by Darlene Corbett

This is the first book I've read by the author. Mesmerize is a fantastic read. I love how you get to know the past of the characters as well as what they're doing now. I was amazed by the details the author puts in the book.

Delphina is the daughter of a therapist turned match maker. She herself is a therapist turned storyteller. She has given up on love after catching her ex cheating on her. The quote I chose for her is this: “I didn’t say we were back together. We went out on one date. I have another later in the week, and one over the weekend.”

Alex gets Lucia's invite for her speed dating event. On his way there he bumps into a woman who catches his attention. He can't focus enough on the event because he can't get Lucia's daughter out of his head. The quote I chose for him is this: “Not much more, Lucia. We had little time for much of a conversation. She seemed determined to get to her destination.”

This happens to be a really beautiful story. Delphina is a lovely, creative, and wounded person. She's an amazing character, and she has so much to give and so much to offer. Alex and Delphina have a great relationship, even though she wasn't looking for one. Then Alex goes on a trip, way off, to another country. While he's gone, she's dealing with an ex-boyfriend. Will she fall for him, or hasn't she really broken up with him for Alex, or will she lose Alex because she broke up with him? This is a complex and very beautifully told story. I was captivated by it, and I didn't expect that. It's a clean read, and I am now very interested in what else this author has written. The settings are so realistic, and this story completely took me by surprise.

Thanks to Celebrate Lit for my digital copy of this book. This review is my own, and a positive review is never required.

This was such a beautiful and well written love story, full of stories. We have Delphina and Alex, our main characters, both have been hurt by love, but after a set up by her mom, they slowly start their romance. The connection between them was magical and the author did an incredible job of creating well rounded characters that aren’t perfect and that makes you want to root for them or groan when they make the wrong choices. There is a full cast of secondary characters that are fully developed and make the story so much better. The author does an amazing job of storytelling, descriptions that make you feel like you are right there with the characters. If you are looking for a tale of romance with characters you are going to get very emotionally involved with, definitely check this novel out.

Mesmerize is a contemporary Christian romance. Delphina (isn’t that a pretty name?) is a therapist who works through storytelling, both her stories and her clients’. Delphina’s love interest is Alexander. He’s a gentleman and handsome, but how did he get that scar on his face, and isn’t Delphina engaged to a man named Jude?

Oh, that Jude! And oh, Alexander’s circle of coworkers! Some of the characters surrounding Delphina and Alexander are big challenges to the couple’s love story, but God is at work in at least one of these secondary characters' lives. I can’t say which person or persons (spoilers), but what a wonderful, uplifting story thread.

Speaking of uplifting, Delphina’s mother, Lucia, is wise and insightful and forgiving and loving. She’s a terrific mother and plays an important role in the story. I love that Corbett populated the secondary cast with three-dimensional characters.

This one was a total surprise for me. I really liked that this was a truly relatable story. It could be anyone experiencing this heartache, yearning, love, etc. I love that Delphina came to help her mother in Vegas for a speed date event. Family is everything! Love the relationship that bloomed naturally between Delphina and Alex. My heart broke when Delphina broke Alexanders heart by making one decision. Life it all about small decisions that affect your path to growth. It was nice to see that when Delphina realized she made a massive, bad decision, she wanted to make it right. I honestly would say that this was refreshing! If you are looking for a nice, clean, Christian romance...I would highly recommend! It reads super-fast and naturally. I did not even realize I was done!

This book was hard for me. I love the cover art, and that’s what drew me in initially. The story is a good one, but the writing style was not one I could keep up with. There is not a clear timeline- often bouncing back to memories and previous encounters. There are thoughts, which were not always clear to me… I liked the story and the characters, but had to really focus on the book to understand what was what. I loved Alex and Delphina, and liked that she had her mom and he had his work friend to help them through the difficult times. I’ve never heard of a therapeutic storyteller, nor do I know if it’s a real thing, but it was pretty cool and the author did great with the imagery of it. I just really struggled with the timeline bouncing.

Mesmerize By Darlene M. Corbett

Mesmerize is a Contemporary Romance that I honestly didn’t know what to expect going in but what I got was a thousand percent better. Holy Cow is is exactly what I needed and didn’t even realize till I started reading. I pretty much devoured this book in one sitting because I simply couldn’t put it down. The characters are relatable , raw, developed and bring the story to life. They both have been deeply hurt by love in the past. But can they untangle the lies and hurt. This is a new author to me and I’m definitely intrigued enough that im going to look into what other books they have. I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next.

Mesmerize is such a fun, heartfelt romance with a great mix of love, faith, creativity, and second chances. I really enjoyed following Delphina and Alex as their relationship develops, especially with all the twists and emotional moments along the way. Delphina’s storytelling adds such a unique touch to the story, and I loved how she uses her creativity and vulnerability to fight for the person she loves. The settings in Las Vegas, Boston, and Dubai also give the book a fun, worldly feel. There’s plenty of romance, emotion, and hope throughout, making this an easy and enjoyable read. A sweet story about love, mistakes, and realising when someone is truly worth fighting for!

Mesmerize will have you mesmerized by all of the rich and exotic details. The author truly draws you into each scene as if you are sitting with the characters and experiencing the story with them. The main characters, Alex and Delphina, both have endured past heartbreak, rejection, and manipulation. They take their time learning to trust and fall in love, but not without some bumps and detours along the way.
I highly recommend Mesmerize for those who love clean and Christian stories with opulent settings and lavish details as an added bonus.

This one I struggled with at times. It is cute and I love the idea of it but it was hard to stay focused after a few questions were answered. I liked the jobs everyone has. Some are very unique and different. Secrets pop out now and then from each of these characters troubled pasts. The chemistry between the two MC is definitely easy to see.

This is an okay book for me. I think the cover is cute and the unique jobs and secrets help this one out. My only other issue is the back and forth in time. I wish it would be stated as it would have been leas confusing to me personally.
