Fun read

This series is perfect for summer beach reads. Or in my case perfect for the backyard. They are light and breezy and I find myself cracking up as Jo Ravens learns the ropes of her new career as a apprentice private investigator. Jo keeps finding bodies and with the help of her sister and reporter friend Jackie their hilarious antics solve the cases. Perfect read for a sunny afternoon . I am ready to start the next in the seriee

Entertaining

About on par with the first. The writing is a bit steadier but the plot and characterization isn't as good. The case was solved at almost exactly the same percentage as the first one which, with the book's short length, makes the pacing feel like a predictable television episode. Still, it was enjoyable.

Easy fun

Light-hearted mystery, along with enough serious stuff to make it interesting. I like the characters and the way they interact together.

Another fun, quick read by Maddie Cochere. This well-written series is quirky, humorous, and light, so if you don't want those things in a mystery novel, then it probably isn't for you. These aren't hard-boiled detective novels or serious mysteries, and I doubt they're meant to be. But every so often I need a story I can dive right into and devour quickly, and this series fits the bill. Jo Ravens is an amusing protagonist, and she has great side kicks in the form of a gutsy sister raising two kids and a pie-making journalist friend. Her mother is another colorful character with a penchant for potty humor, so beware. Cochere has a knack for pacing, and before you know it, you've finished the book. Fans of this genre will be well entertained.

I love her writing style, fun, clean, and characters are interesting. It's not drawn out. Easy read. Jo seems to find murders and gets her into trouble which she has to get herself out of. Spunky gal who brightens my day so on to the next book.

I enjoyed this book. I figured out who the killer was but it was still a good story. I will continue to read the rest of the series.
