This is a quirky and refreshing take on Vampires, and Witches. I read it in a day and a half because I couldn't put it down. It's unique approach that steers away from the stereotypical story of Vampires doing a lot of 'biting and killing' for their dose of blood is what kept me hooked—along with the authors choice to give her characters an essence of innocence and 'care' that came with unexpected humour. I loved how the story unravelled and had me emotionally engaged with two of the main characters. Modern Vampires is an enjoyable read... Definitely worth it.

The Masterpiece this is, you could realise from the first sentence. Andrew is not only relatable, he's also a refreshing change from your typical main character who's got everything under control. He's allowed to make mistakes and he makes plenty, starting with being so stupidly oblivious, that he can't see a vampire when he's literally standing in front of him.
From said Vampire Sebastian you could expect a bit more. He's handsome, posh, nice and everything you'd want from an occasional hookup (which is basically his job and income, so good on him!). But him not seeing the most obvious thing about Andrew is just giving this MM romance the hilarious twist it's otherwise serious theme deserves.
Following Nathalie around as she discovers the lovely described city Basel makes you realise that all the old folklore about Vampires might be outdated. With Nathalie the story evolves from an adorable MM romance to one that shines a critical light on "the old ways".
But to keep spoilers from this post...
The author really decided; character building for the win, put a decent amount of worldbuilding in there and then build an (entising) plot around her well thought threw structure.
To put it short for anyone not able to read my praise as a whole and skips to the end:
10/10 would recommend!
I'm desperately awaiting the sequel. Please, write a sequel or even a prequel! I need to know more about all their lifes. What are Andrew and Sebastian up to? Where does Nathalie go? What's with the magic (read the book if this question doesn't make sense to you)?

Good story, well told
This novel is a total page turner. It kept me spellbound (pun intended) and, at times, on the edge of my seat. Characters you want to root for and keep thinking about when you’ve put the book down.

You know a book is good when you have a movie like version in your mind when you’re reading.
This was a great and easy read.

First of all, this book is definitely not what I would have expected from a vampire romance at all XD That being said, there are no complaints from me! Andrew and Sebastian are the cutest couple and it's so refreshing reading a romance book without a third act break up! I wasn't expecting what I got instead, but spoilers... This book was a genre rollercoaster, that's for sure.
I also liked the magic system that was introduced through Natalie's chapters and want to find out more about it. Such an interesting concept that magic is fading from the world, I wonder what would happen if it disappeared completely...?
I really hope we get a second book because I definitely need to know more about Sebastian's past!!!!!

Witty, rich in content and full of unexpected twists
Andrew and Sebastian grow closer, fall in love and must keep their biggest secret from one another: they are vampires and have no idea that the other is one too.
Jane Ravenscroft takes readers on a humorous journey into the worries and struggles of modern vampires, with rapid scene changes, a well-paced plot and three heart-warming characters. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

It has a good plot! It's different to other vampire stories out there which makes it unique in my opinion. the relationships between the characters are written very well.
