Gin and Grudges

Rate this book
His family stole her legacy. And grudges don’t go easy.

Temperance Archer would rather burn her ranch’s flower farm to the ground than make nice with a Wilder. They’re a curse on Blackwood Valley—led by the man who cheated her out of her birthright.

Kade Wilder has it all. But, behind closed doors, he is suffocated by the grip of his grandfather’s iron fist, including the non-negotiable rule that Kade can’t do the one thing he really wants—competitively ride the horses he trains.

When Temperance’s chance to get her stud on the map is threatened by an accident, the last person she’s willing to accept help from is the one to offer it. And Kade is determined to prove he’s nothing like his grandfather.

Each step towards a competition win brings Temperance and Kade closer. But as their self-control frays, and ultimatums are made, they’ll need to decide what, and who, they’ll risk to keep what they’ve each spent their lives working for. Even if that means giving up who they want most.

NOTE: While the books in Blackwood Valley can be read alone (and each one follows a different couple), they are best read in order.

*Content warning: family abuse - historical, off-page but clear what the MMC has lived thorough and that he is working through that trauma. Reading age guide: 16-18+ (this will depend on maturity as the book is intended for adult audiences)

*Arc Review*

Gin and Grudges is a very easy to read small town cowboy romance. The story revolves around Temperance and Kade, whose families have been long time rivals. Their whole lives they have always been told to dislike each other and stay away. After a night of too many gin’s, a moment in the storeroom of Kade’s bar will change their lives forever. I enjoyed hearing Kade’s traumatic backstory, but I would have loved if they dived deeper into the past and what really happened between their grandfather’s. Overall a very enjoyable read. If you are fan of enemies to lovers, cowboys, banter, fun friends and of course a bit of spice, this book is for you!

Thank you for the Berry Agency for this arc copy.

Gin & Grudges has an amazing premise and I enjoyed the characters immensely. I’m excited to see where the rest of the series goes as I can already pick out two potential couples amongst the characters introduced. Sadly, I do wish the book had have been longer in order to allow depth to the characters and really flesh out their stories. There were scenes I really wished had have been included or ones that would have loved to explore so much more. Gave me the good feelings of a small town romance, I just would have liked more depth and exploration within the world and characters.

Cowboy romance is a genre I really want to get more into, so when I saw this, I had to apply for an ARC. This is a small town, (somewhat) enemies-to-lovers, he falls first and slow-burn romance.

I say it’s somewhat enemies-to-lovers as Temperance, the FMC, definitely saw Kade (MMC) as an enemy. Him, not so much. Hence the ‘he falls first’. As I was reading, I did at times think the romance developed a bit too fast, but then I realised that they’ve known each other since they were kids, so this was a real slow burn.

I enjoyed the backstory of Temperance and Kade’s families and how past events still affect them. I think this was my favourite part of the story. Kade especially has a lot of trauma regarding his grandfather (the amount of rage I had towards him omg). I also liked seeing the relationships he has with his sister and best friend. You can tell he just wants to protect everyone.

This is a dual POV, so you really get to know the two MCs well. I found Temperance annoying at times, so I didn’t really care much for her. I preferred Kade’s chapters, especially with his complex family issues.

This is the first book of the series, and the next book will follow another couple that we have already been introduced to. It’s very clear who they are, and I’m excited for their story.

Short version... I loved this book!

For the longer version ... the story grabbed me from the start and kept me in until the very end. There is rivalry, family tensions, and a romance that builds through patience and trust, not shortcuts.

The writing style is great: clear and layered enough for the characters to stand out quickly. The dialogue feels natural, the chapters are short but packed with content, each ending with a desire to immediately move on to the next one, and every chapter carries a small but meaningful shift in plot or emotion. Everything feels logical and purposeful, without any filler, which I absolutely love in a book. A story with a meaningful plot and realistic outcomes.

Kade is portrayed as hardworking and fiercely protective, especially when it comes to his sister. On the other hand, his conflict with his grandfather is one of the stronger emotional pillars of the story.
Temperance was a breath of fresh air - confident, determined, aware of her goals and boundaries, but mature enough to know when to let things slide.
The dynamic between them was perfect, full of that tension between two people who can’t escape the feelings of love. There were stolen glances, subtle touches, and closeness that slowly grew into something deeper. Loved it, loved the tension! Also, the author avoids the usual miscommunication trope traps. The characters talk and make decisions consciously and maturely, which, in my opinion, is always a big plus in a romance.

The plot unfolds fast, with realistic conflicts that a family might face, especially when material legacies are involved.

The secondary characters are well-defined and interesting enough. We have a nice setting for future standalone stories.

Overall, this is a mature, emotionally intelligent romance with realistic situations, well written dialogue, and characters who act like real adults. My heartfelt recommendation. I can’t wait for the next book in the series.

This book was provided to me as an ARC from The Berry Agency and Lauren Parker Rhodes. All opinions are my own.

This book hooked me faster than I expected. I went in thinking I was getting a classic enemies-to-lovers ranch romance, and I did… but I also got generational damage, stolen legacies, and two people quietly suffocating under expectations they never chose.
Temperance is the kind of FMC I gravitate towards. She’s prickly, stubborn, and deeply wounded, and her anger makes sense. Her family didn’t just lose land, they lost history, identity, and the chance to build something that was meant to be theirs. You feel that injustice in everything she does. She isn’t dramatic for the sake of it, she’s protective because she’s already lost too much.
Kade surprised me. He looks like the golden boy from the outside, but underneath he’s trapped, controlled, and slowly breaking under the weight of a legacy that isn’t his. I really appreciated that his conflict wasn’t solved by one big “stand up to the patriarch” moment. His fear felt real. His loyalty felt complicated. His choices had consequences.
What really worked for me was the slow burn. The tension builds naturally through shared work, shared pressure, and shared vulnerability rather than instant attraction. Every step forward feels earned. Every moment of closeness is layered with restraint, guilt, and that constant question of whether wanting each other will cost them everything else.
The horse and competition elements added depth rather than feeling like window dressing. They raised the stakes and mirrored the characters’ internal battles, control versus freedom, tradition versus desire. It all tied together beautifully.
This isn’t a light, fluffy romance. It’s emotional, frustrating in the best way, and grounded in the reality that sometimes love doesn’t magically fix what generations before you broke. You’ll ache for them. You’ll want to shake them. And you’ll absolutely understand why they make the choices they do.
If you enjoy slow-burn romance with grit, emotional weight, and characters who feel like real people carrying real scars, this one is worth your time. It lingered with me well after the final page, and honestly, those are the ones that always hit the hardest.

Lauren's Gin and Grudges was my first venture into the world of small-town romance, and it certainly won't be my last. Heck, I need to know what happens next in the Blackwood Valley.

I'm a fantasy reader, first and foremost. And yet, I've dared to venture into other genres like dark romance and now, small-town romance. My heart beats for the fantasy elements, but it also beats for beautiful stories and immaculate writing. And this is what Lauren gives me each time I read her books: masterfully crafted characters and immaculately detailed settings. So, when Lauren writes, I read; that is simply the order of things.

I loved Gin and Grudges. This is an interconnected standalone in her new series, Blackwood Valley, focusing on a group of people living in a smaller, rural community. I truly enjoyed the dynamics between the MCs. They come from opposing families with feuds spanning generations, and it is up to Temperance and Kade to decide if the feud will continue. But this story is more than that. It is a story of healing, self-acceptance, and self-worth. A story of finding your voice, of protecting what's yours, and of finally breaking free from transgenerational trauma. These characters aren't perfect, and they make mistakes, but they try. They try to be and do better, even at their own expense. They try to see beyond the feuds and the fights, even if it could potentially cost them everything they hold dear.

Temperance and Kade show us the true meaning of devotion, of a family chosen by love, not by blood. They remind us of what is important in life while also showing us the darker side of it. They don't shy away from that darkness.

So, grab a glass of your favorite gin, put your cowboy hat on, and dive into a world of ranches, horse races, and flower farms. You won't regret it.

Thank you, Lauren, for having me on your ARC team. It's always such an immense pleasure.

My Review
I just knew this was going to be perfect for me. I am very easy to please and this checks all the boxes. I love a cute romance story where the guy is already basically in love with her and she starts off "hating" him just to realize he's an amazing guy. This was of course very predictable but it was still enjoyable. I can't wait to continue with more stories from this town in book 2.

Would I recommend this book?

There is something refreshing about an Aussie written cowboy romance, it's familiar,  flirty and a whole lot of fun. The settings are so beautifully rural and having come from a largish country town, I could picture the pub and remoteness of the ranches so clearly. Lauren has captured it perfectly.

We follow both Kade and Temperance as they both navigate their families generational feud, neither really understanding the impacts that their grandfathers fight would have on them both in the future.

On one side we have the heir to the Wilder Ranch, Kade, the man who seems to have it all, looks, a close relationship with his sister, success with training the best horses in the county and a bar where he can be creative and distil his own gin. But he yearns to ride his horses in competition, forbidden by his iron fisted and abusive grandfather.

On the other, we have Temperance, she's struggling to get her stud off the ground, working two jobs to make ends meet and holding tight to a grudge against the Wilders. A grudge she'll have to let go if she wants to make a name for herself in the stud business.

When these two reluctantly pair up in secret,  sparks fly, old prejudices are challenged and surprising alliances are formed.

Can these two make something out of the ashes of an age old fued, or are they destined to make the same mistakes.

If you love:

- enemies to reluctant co-workers to lovers
- he falls first
- slow burn
- generational fued
- found family
- cowboys and cowgirls
- small town romance

Then pick this one up now!

Thank you to the author and publisher for an ARC!

An unmissable small-town, slow burn, contemporary rural romance.

I was lucky enough to read a beta draft of this story, which I loved. I'm so grateful to be able to read & review an ARC, which (if possible), I loved even more.

This is a small town, rural, enemies-to-lovers romance with angst, high (personal) stakes, forgiveness, and overcoming the past. Temperance & Kade are authentic and compelling main characters, and Parker Rhodes writes them and their story with beautiful compassion. Both times I've read Gin and Grudges, I've found it difficult to put down, and I've worried for the characters when I haven't been reading. They are so gorgeously drawn, honest in their strengths and weaknesses, relatable in their complexities.

Temperance & Kade sit within a web of family, found family, and history, and it adds such wonderful depth to this novel. Their romance is a perfectly-paced slow burn, and so satisfying, with every step forward they take realistic and hard-won. The ending makes it clear that their story isn't finished, and I can't wait to see them again in the next novel in this series.

Heartfelt. Purposeful. Hard-fought.

This was an enjoyable, easy read with a well paced storyline based around rival families, preconceived judgements and rebuilding trust.

Kade is fiercely protective of those he loves and respects, especially his younger sister. However, he is being suffocated by his Grandfather’s abuse and expectations of legacy that was never his choosing. He is being held back from doing the one thing he dreams of and it is slowly killing him. There isn’t a huge defining moment of conflict or “taking a stand” against his grandfather, it’s much more palpable in the small things because of the fear you can feel he holds about the consequences his choices could have on those around him.

Temperance is a firecracker, sassy and confident, but stubborn and haunted by everything her and her family have lost. She is trying to rebuild a legacy and honour her grandfather.

The relationship between Kade and Temperance felt hard-fought. There is what feels like genuine tension between them that is being pieced together slowly through shared vulnerability and trust. Their love faces an uphill battle and you find yourself aching for them… I was trying to give them a pep talk at one point ❤️

If you enjoy a small town romance built on grit, loyalty, emotional depth and scars that you don’t always see, this is one you’ll want to read.

I am a sucker for any kind of rivals to lovers, enemies to lovers genre with slow-burn romance so I am so stoked I got an advance reader's copy!

The story is told in a dual POV featuring Kade and Temperance whose families have been long time rivals. The story addresses how family issues and trauma can affect even future generations.

I appreciate the short chapters which makes it easy to understand both characters' POV. I love how Kade and Temperance has shown that it's up to us to decide our own path for our healing and acceptance. Their communication is truly admirable and has made a huge impact to the story so even if this is an emotional read I still enjoyed the share of laughter and wildness throughout the book.

If you are on the hunt for your next small-town romance, saddle up and let this book take you on a wild but emotional ride!

This is an interconnected series and all other characters that were introduced were very interesting so I'm truly looking forward to the rest of the series!

Temperance Archer and Kade Wilder are everything you could want in a small town cowboy enemies to lovers story!

Kade is seemingly living the dream on the surface. He has a great group of friends, runs his own bar and is the top horse trainer on his family ranch. But he's living under the iron rule of his grandfather who won't let him competitively ride those same horses or have any kind of relationship with Temperance.

Temperance? She's holding on to her family ranch by the skin of her teeth. She's tough, full of grit and won't give up without a fight. She also desperately needs an experienced rider to take her horse Nightshade to the top and put her stud farm on the map...but Kade is the last person she's willing to trust or accept help from. Until she doesn't have a choice!

I loved the tension between these two. There was so much history and hurt that they have to get past before even possibly being able to consider any kind of relationship. The chemistry between them was next level and the spice was spicing 🔥

The supporting characters were fun and the friendships were the kind everyone wants in life. And the villain of the story? Well he's just so easy to dislike! I can't wait to see whose story is next in the series!

Gin & Grudges by Lauren Parker Rhodes is a beautifully layered contemporary romance that blends small-town charm with deeply rooted emotional tension. At its core, this is an enemies-to-lovers story fuelled by history, family expectations, and wounds that refuse to stay buried.

The slow-burn romance is where this book truly shines. The chemistry builds naturally, with sharp banter and lingering moments that make every interaction feel earned. Both characters are flawed, guarded, and shaped by their pasts, and watching those walls slowly come down is incredibly satisfying. The dual perspectives add real depth, allowing you to understand not just the grudges, but the vulnerability beneath them.

Set in a close-knit community where legacies and rivalries run deep, the story carries a strong sense of place that enhances the emotional stakes. Beyond the romance, Gin & Grudges explores themes of healing, self-acceptance, and learning when to let go of old hurts in order to grow.

Heartfelt, tense, and quietly tender, this is a character-driven romance—perfect for readers who love slow burns, emotional payoff, and relationships built on more than just attraction. 🍸📖

*One-sitting read.*

I absolutely devoured Gin and Grudges. As someone who’s been riding horses - specifically reining- for over 15 years, I’m usually *very* quick to spot inaccuracies, but this completely passed the test. I don’t know if the author has firsthand experience in the field, but honestly, she could have fooled me. Nothing felt forced, and I never had one of those moments where incorrect details pulled me out of the story.

The romance was exactly what I wanted—fast-paced, engaging, and full of genuinely heartfelt moments. The quieter scenes between them, especially in the trailer, really stood out and hit emotionally in a way that felt authentic rather than overdone.

If I had one small critique, it would be that the family drama could have been explored a bit more. I would have loved deeper insight into specific motivations, or even a flashback to give more context to what happened.

I actually met Lauren at an author event and couldn’t wait to read this after hearing her talk about it—and it did not disappoint. I also love supporting local Aussie authors, which made this even more special.

I’ll definitely be picking up the rest of her books.

Felt like a western cowboy cowgirl spin on Romeo and Juliet but with a happy ever after ending!

I received this book as an ARC from berry agency and I’m so happy I got it!

I love rural and I also compete in western riding including reining which is what the MCs kade and temperance are involved in so I absolutely devoured this book!

1 sitting I had things to do that did not get done I wanted to find out what happened next at the end of every chapter!

The yearning from Kade and the hatred and hurt from Temperance made for delicious tension and you could really feel the waring of hearts!

Lauren Parker Rhodes did an amazing job with making me love some characters and hate others feel all the feelings of triumph to sadness to love, happiness and belonging!!!

The only down side to this book is I felt a little anticlimactic like it wasn’t finished I want to know what happens with the bad guy, and do the good guys win in the end! Im wholeheartedly committed to find out what happens with the next love interests that’s for sure!!!

I really enjoyed the first instalment in the Blackwood Valley series by Lauren Parker Rhodes. Thank you to The Berry Agency for an advanced reader copy of this book.

Kade and Temperance had an ease about them even though they were enemies in the beginning. I liked that they didn’t spew ridiculous hate to each other. And the dislike was warranted in the beginning but they communicated well and moved through into their love story.

The way Kade spoke to her literally gave me goosebumps.

I am looking forward to further retribution for Kades monster of a grandfather as the series progresses. I assume this will be an over arching theme to the books. I definitely had a visceral hate for that man.

Gin is my drink of choice when I’m out and about so I loved the way he spoke about his gin creations and when they tasted them all I wanted to do was have a sip.
“I liked watching you drink my gin”
I’m sorry I’m melting.

“Temperance Archer, I am so fucking in love with you it’s almost madness.”

thank you so much to the berry agency for this arc!

i enjoyed this a lot! i loved the setting and the rivalry between the main characters; it felt very realistic and fleshed out. i was kind of getting 'romeo and juliet' vibes from the whole dynamic temperance and kade shared. kade was such a fascinating character. he had so much depth, along with such a well explored trauma subplot that actually had a purpose to the story and added to it, instead of simply being there for the sake of it – which i greatly appreciated. temperance was an absolute boss throughout this entire book. she didn't take any poor treatment from anyone (especially walter) even when she was scared and i respected the hell out of her for it. i loved all of the side characters and it was hinted that we will get another book in this series, which will hopefully be related to some of the aforementioned characters. all to say, i enjoyed this book and i recommend you read it when it comes out on february 1st! thank you again for this arc!

*slow-burn enemies to lovers
*he falls first
*found family
* family feuds
*he’s a competitive horse back rider
* she runs a flower farm
*dual pov
Then this one is for you!

I dove right into this as an arc opportunity and I would do it all over again! This book is a stand alone in an interconnected series based in a small town called Blackwood valley.

Temperance is our female MC and Kade is our MMC
The have both been thrown a hard start to their lives and their families absolutely hate each other so they tried to avoid each other their whole lives but that changed when she decided to walk into his bar that he owns with his best friend!
From here they just seem to not be able to stay away from each other and the slow yearning of each other starts from here and the tension you could cut with a knife!!
This book pulled at my heart strings throughout the whole story and I loved it so much.. thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to be apart of your books journey!

If there’s one thing that will immediately grab my attention, it’s a slow-burn, enemies-to-lovers romance set in a small town, and Gin and Grudges absolutely delivered.
Set in the rugged, close-knit community of Blackwood Valley, this interconnected standalone kicks off the series with all the tension, heart, and heat you could want. Temperance and Kade come from rival families whose feud has stretched across generations, and the weight of that history lingers in every interaction. But this story is so much more than stolen glances and simmering resentment, it’s about healing, self-acceptance, and choosing to break cycles that were never yours to begin with.
Told in dual POV, we get an intimate look at both Temperance and Kade as they navigate loyalty, legacy, and their growing feelings for each other. The short chapters keep the pacing tight and addictive, and the emotional depth hits just as hard as the romantic tension. Watching them decide whether to continue a feud or forge a new path had me completely invested.
And can we talk about their communication? Absolute perfection. Even when they stumble (because they do, they’re beautifully imperfect), they try. They try to listen. They try to grow. They try to be better than what they were taught. That devotion, to each other and to becoming healthier versions of themselves, was honestly one of the most powerful aspects of the book.
The small-town atmosphere is rich and immersive: ranches, horse competitions, flower farms, long-held grudges, and even longer memories. Add in cowboy/cowgirl vibes, undeniable chemistry, a satisfying slow burn, and just the right amount of spice, and you’ve got a romance that’s both emotional and wildly fun.
Temperance and Kade show that family isn’t always about blood, it’s about who stands beside you when it matters. Their journey is messy, heartfelt, and deeply romantic, and I’m officially obsessed. I’ll absolutely be continuing the Blackwood Valley series, I’m not ready to leave this world anytime soon.
So grab a glass of gin, tip your cowboy hat, and saddle up. This is one emotional, swoony ride you don’t want to miss. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

It’s a shame this book only has a few reviews as it’s one of those books I think people would love. Perfect as a palate cleanser, or if you want an enemies to lovers, family feud romance.
Kade is the kind of man you’d love in reality. He’s loyal, kind, and hasn’t let a mean tyrant bring him down. Unfortunately that mean tyrant has heavily impacted Temperance’s life.
Having hated Kade since childhood she reluctantly teams up with him to ride her horse. With everything on the line for both of them, hard decisions need to be made.
Their relationship felt natural. Spend enough time with someone and you start to see all the little pieces they keep hidden. That’s what it’s like for these two. Their romance had its bumps but they dealt with it maturely and communicated with each other.
This was a great introduction to the Blackwood Valley.

Thank you to the author and The Berry Agency for the arc and this is my honest review.

This book made me want to drink gin and buy myself flowers 💐

Temperance and Kade grew up together in the same small town on their own family's horse ranches. But their grandfathers fell out (putting that lightly) and ended with Tempererances' family on the outs which resulted in no money and basically only one horse that needs to prove himself to get the ranch back on its feet.
The family fued runs DEEP and each has a hard back story which was interesting and kept me flipping the pages.

This was such an easy romance book to read which I still think about, and wonder what these characters are up to. I'd love to know where it goes and hope the next book touches back in with these characters.

The ranch with the run down cottage and the flower farm sounds like a magical place to spend time and I loved the vibe of the specialty gins that were made. Gins and flowers, I'm so here for it.

Thank you so much to the author
for sending me an Earc of Gin & Grudges 💐🐎

ARC REVIEW!

Gin and Grudges by Lauren Parker Rhodes

Lauren created the most perfect characters that made me feel all sorts of emotions, providing a wonderful backdrop and scenery for us readers. The whole vibe of the book was everything. I fell in love with Temperance and Kade as individuals from their first chapters. Kade is the perfect gentleman, brother, and friend and any grandfather would be proud to call him their grandson. Temperance's love for her grandfather, the farm she inherited, and her strength to fight for what her grandfather lost made her the perfect FMC. Not to mention, she is a strong, independent woman who had me cheering for her. They handled everything with such maturity that every time I wanted to jump into the book and kick a certain character in the balls, Kade and Temperance's way of dealing with things really calmed me down and made me reevaluate how I react to situations. The more I read, the more I wanted to know about their individual stories, and I became curious about the side characters as well. It’s an amazing first book to kick off the series, and I’m looking forward to what Lauren has in store for us with the rest of it.

Gin & Grudges 🐎
My first cowboy romance and it did not disappoint! I fear Lauren has unlocked a cage I did not know was there and now all I want is cowboy romance? Lucky there will be another Blackwood Valley book!
This story was excellent! It was such an easy, sweet and heart-warming read that I didn’t want to put down. Temperance (Peri) and Kade are just perfect, they compliment each other so well. A thing I love about Lauren’s work is that they are adults and not only that, but they are mature and this is reflected in their relationships. It’s such a nice breath of fresh air to read about characters who communicate! I was smiling, smirking and just having the best time while reading this, it’s exactly what I needed! Gin & Grudges has just gone down as my favourite read by Lauren Parker Rhodes! 💙

I really loved Gin and Grudges. The generational feud between the Archer and Wilder families added so much depth, this wasn’t surface-level rivalry, it felt personal and layered.

Temperance and Kade had fantastic tension and chemistry, and I loved watching Kade try to step out from under his grandfather’s shadow. The ranch setting, competitive riding, and Temperance’s fierce loyalty to her farm made the stakes feel real.

My only small critique is that I wish it had been a little longer. The enemies-to-lovers arc was strong, but I would have happily sat in that slow burn just a bit more before it tipped fully into love.

Overall, this was tense, emotional, and full of heart. A great small-town rivalry romance with real stakes and real chemistry.

Thank you to The Berry Agency for the ARC ♥️

I just wanted more of this book. However, I also felt that there was a bit much going on in the plot. I wanted more of the gin making. I wanted more of the developing relationship between the two main characters. I wanted more of the horses. I just wanted more.

This book was set up to give me everything I wanted but somewhere along the way some of the stuff I wanted was an included. It left me a little flat. However I really enjoyed the plot and if you're looking for a book that is full of action and a gloriously mean bad guy, then this book is for you. If you're looking for detail and world building, just come along for the ride. The pining and the ultimate love between the two characters is worth it.

Big thanks to the author of this book for both an e-copy and I hard copy of this arc. This is my honest opinion.

**ARC READER**

Australian cowboy and gin romance that absolutely had my heart full! Drinking some small distillery gin also helped warm the soul, but let’s not talk about that.

Kade, the hot Aussie cowboy, blonde hair, piercing blue eyes…. Yeah, I may have fallen for him.

And Temperance, auburn hair and green eyes… I think I a female type because I’m attracted to her too.

The two embark on a slightly predictable story of bringing enemies to lovers. Put in a controlling patriarchal Grandfather that honestly doesn’t want anyone happy by the sounds of things. A third act break-up is (unfortunately) there, but there was no hate between them as that happens.

⭐️ 4 stars!

⭐⭐️⭐️⭐️

I was kindly given an ARC copy of this book by the author and Berry Agency, thank you so much.

Gin and Grudges gave me serious G&T cravings, and I’m not going to lie… I definitely had a few while reading 🍸😄

This was a really enjoyable small-town romance, fast-paced, enemies to lovers, and labelled as a slow burn, though it didn’t feel that slow to me (which I personally loved). The cowboy/ranch setting was super interesting and I didn’t realise how much training and skill goes into it, I actually found that whole side of the story genuinely fascinating.

The spice level was just right, the romance was great, and overall it was a great little escape into small-town cowboy romance. A fun, easy read that I really enjoyed.

Can’t wait for book 2

This was an easy, fun small-town cowboy romance to sink into.

Temperance and Kade come from rival families who’ve basically been raised to hate each other, so of course one too many gins and a storeroom moment at Kade’s bar changes everything. Enemies to lovers with banter, tension, and a bit of spice? Yes please.

I really enjoyed the family backstory and how the past still hangs over both of them, that was probably my favourite part of the book. Kade’s trauma, especially around his grandfather, had me full of rage on his behalf, and I loved seeing his softer side with his sister and best friend. You can tell he just wants to protect his people, which made him really easy to root for.

It’s dual POV, so you get inside both of their heads, though I’ll be honest, I vibed more with Kade than Temperance and found myself way more invested in his chapters and his family stuff. I also would’ve loved a deeper dive into what actually went down between their grandfathers.

Overall, if you’re in the mood for a light, small-town enemies-to-lovers with cowboys, banter, found-family vibes, and some spice, this one’s a good, cozy time.
