Harberton Place has witnessed many happenings in its existences. Now is the time of Colonel Baldwin Banfield, a widower who now looks for nothing more than a quiet, peaceful existence following his years of military service. Perhaps depressed, he is content to live with minimal staff and only a butler.
However, slowly life moves on with the visit of a military friend who saved the Colonel's life at one time. Now, staff are added, intrigue abounds, and the Colonel dares to dream of a forbidden life with his young butler, if only there is a way to make it happen. Love finds a way in this entertaining story.
This story was perfect, the historical house, the wealthy and their staff, the dirty deeds behind closed bedroom doors, a truly lovely tale. I used to read historical set exclusively, this was a pleasurable trip back down memory lane. To make it all the more interesting those last two word after 'The End' gives us true hope Daniel.
