When we started plotting this trilogy and the takedown of our proverbial Moriarty, there was never any question (at least in my head) who the MMC was going to be. And from that, unexpectedly strong themes took root about making a happy family when one wasn't lucky enough to be born to one, earning redemption, and choosing love.
This trilogy was a bit of a labour, but we're going out with a bang, the total word count ended up being over 320,000 words in Charity and Perry's romantic arc. And while the dark parts ended up a little darker than we originally thought it was going to be, I think that the bright bits shine twice as bright for it.
This is for to all the people who helped us get it done, including all of you who kept us balanced through the delivery, and for those of you who are looking for a family to belong to. <3
Oh my goodness, what a fabulous, action packed, edge of the seat, page turner of an ending to this wonderful series!
Charity and Perry’s story has pulled me in and held me tight since the first book. Book 2 grabbed me tighter, but book 3 is an absolute tour de force that just wouldn’t let go. I just had to keep reading to find out how it ends!
Lady Fairfax reappeared at the end of book 2 and her machinations, deviousness and downright evil behaviour have run riot over Charity and Perry’s lives in this book, even more than before. Every time they think they may know what she is plotting, they realise there is yet another layer to be uncovered. She is right up there in all time book villains, with a devious nature that might rival the infamous Moriarty.
Charity and Perry have moved through dislike, distrust, even hatred, to realise that they have grown to love one another over the course of this series. The depths of that love, and the sacrifices they are prepared to make for it, become clear as they try to finally bring Marion Fairfax to face the justice she deserves, while protecting all of those she wishes to harm.
Charity and Perry are not alone in their endeavours, as their found family of Selina, Thorne and Ravenscourt work alongside them, despite the risk to themselves, in a desire to free their friends from Marion’s reach, as well as protecting England from all her plotting. Naturally, the Queen and Prinny have their roles to play, but this time they are not the only royals wanting to protect their interests, as the Russians are equally invested.
The historical facts and inspiration that are woven through this novel give it such an element of believability, as Regency life, political plots, royal intrigues and the life of the ‘ton’ are painted so vividly. There are historical notes at the end of the book, to explain research, but to stay spoiler free, you need to wait until the end to read them.
I have loved every page of this book, which brings things to a very satisfying conclusion. Old friends are met again and it feels like a very natural end. Now I am hoping that, in time, we will find out what comes next for Selina and Thorne.
This third instalment of Charity and Perry’s tale starts off in a despondent manner and quite understandably so! Lady Fitzroy’s unexpected and shocking appearance - with the Russians no less! - has reignited both Perry’s and Charity’s insecurities and self worth issues. The ‘Lady’ is surely up to something or somethings nefarious, but can they discover what and stop her scheming before whatever dastardly plans she’s machinating come to fruition? Dastardly dirty deeds done in order to enact her dastardly dirty plans too! Marian Fitzroy really shows her true colours in this nail biting finale - and they’re all black 🏴☠️ Underneath all the machinations, intrigue, intensity and action, weaving subtly and beautifully into the story, is the theme of found family, which warmed my heart. An odd family, yes, but imo chosen odd families are the best! With the support of their found family and each other, Perry and Charity have to work through their issues whilst working to save the targets of Marian Fitzroy’s devious plots. There’s also some twists along the way that were not expected and had me going ‘ohhhh’ a couple of times! And in the midst of all the turmoil and trauma, we also get a little teasers of what hopefully will be Selina and Thorne’s future story . . . 🤨😁 All in all this was a wonderfully delightful finale to Charity and Perry’s journey from enemies to comrades to something much more, with all the many plot lines and details wrapped up nicely - and I’ve loved every minute of this page turning, rollercoaster of drama and romance, that swept me along with it. Fabulous ♥️🙏🏽
OK, wow, it's no exaggeration to say that this final instalment of the Diamond of the Ton series is hands down my favourite book in any of the three interconnected mystery series (Rex & Dora, Crown Jewels and Diamond of the Ton) Ms Morrison has written.
The stakes are higher than they've been in any other book in this world - so much so that I had to put the story down at one point when I had some difficult emotional stuff going on and I just wasn't up to dealing with the intensity of the tension as Marian Fitzroy's plans are revealed layer by layer in all of their twisted glory. But the sense of support and acceptance that both Perry and Charity receive from their oddball found family are also even stronger - as is the deepening of the friendship between Selina and Charity.
And it sounds like we might well be getting a FOURTH spin-off series featuring , not to mention a standalone with , at some point, so there's that to look forward to. But in the meantime, this was an awesome book to finish up the series on, and I'm sad to leave it behind.
"Radiance and Revenge" is the third and concluding book in the second series of Regency period mysteries by Lynn Morrison and Anne Radcliffe. The main protagonists were major supporting characters in the first book of the earlier series, and the villainess appears in several earlier books. This book picks up shortly after the second book of the new series. It continues the story of Charity Cresswell, now Dowager Duchess of Atholl, and her growing relationship with Lord Peregrine "Percy" Fitzroy, son of Marion Fitzroy, villainess of the series. As before, this book is best read after the earlier books rather than as a standalone.
The authors have successfully managed to weave several historical personages and events into an enjoyable and sometimes suspenseful story with a satisfying ending to the series, and an epilogue with a hint of what's next and discussion of the authors' research.
What an explosive ending to a fabulous trilogy. Instead of losing steam over the course of the series, these stories have been gaining momentum and charging towards a spectacular finale. I really like the way the fictional story is interwoven with real events, places and characters. It brings history to life whilst being so very entertaining. The plot of this final story brings the evil machinations of Lady Marian Fitzoy to a head and oh my, she is truly a heinous character. Perry, Charity and the gang are rushing to thwart her plans, but she still seems to be one step ahead. All the characters have fully formed over the course of these books and it was a pleasure to see them grow into the people they were truly meant to be. I laughed, I cried and I definitely didn't see that plot twist. I have loved this trilogy from beginning to end and will read it again and again. 5*
Awesome last book in a series. This is a real page turner. One of the things I loved is that the five main characters have become family to each other. The characters are all strong and resolute in their fight against the evil plans of the protagonist. Make sure to read the historical notes at the end of the book - but not until you have read the book - spoiler alert. I love how the authors research the history of the time period and then bring it alive in their writing. Highly recommend reading the whole series in order - starting with The Crown Jewel Regency Mysteries (4 books) and the two previous books in this series (The Diamond of the Ton Regency Mysteries) Brilliance and Betrayal and Shadows and Splendour.
Absolutely a puddle of heartfelt emotions after finishing this.
Radiance and Revenge brought this trilogy to a close in more beautiful ways than I expected. Following Charity and Perry on their journey across three books has been a rollercoaster of regency political drama and mystery getting in the way of romance, but it’s 100% a rollercoaster worth riding.
I loved every single bit of deep character development, emotional prose, and the found family theme. Even the mastermind antagonist that is Marian Fitzroy (as much as I wanted to strangle her at the same time)!
I can’t believe the series is over, but it’s one that will stay in my heart, and sit lovingly on my shelves, for days to come.
Characters you will remember long after you finish the book - Check. Diabolical villain - Check. Found family - Check. Court intrigue - Check. Witty dialogue - Check. This book is everything I've come to expect from Lynn Morrison and Anne Radcliffe and more. My only regret is that it is the last book in the trilogy, and I'm not ready to let these characters go.
As Perry, Charity, and their eclectic team face the final battle with Marian Fitzroy, I experienced a myriad of emotions. I was on the edge of my seat; I cried - happy and sad tears; I laughed; and I may or may not have wanted to slap a few people along the way. Ultimately, this phase of their story was well told and equally well wrapped up, but I am still only willing to say au revoir but not goodbye.
Radiance And Revenge ( Good Vs Evil) Reviewed in the United States on November 2, 2025 Format: Kindle Loved, loved this final book of Charity and Peregrine and what an ending!!!! Throughout the entire book Charity and Peregrine (Perry) are trying to find a way to stop his evil mother, Marian Fitzroy from causing the government of England to fall and to destroy Perry. She is in cahoots with Russia and wants England to fall under Russian leadership giving herself a place of prominence. The final victory belongs to Charity and Perry with the help of their friends. This is a must read to see the ending and how Marian Fitzroy is dealt with!!!!
I was given this ARC and am leaving a voluntary review.
Once again the reader is totally immersed in the dazzling world of Perry and Charity. The characters are all in play this time through a fast paced quickly changing mystery. Alliances are made and interesting unusual relationships begin to form adding to the depth of the plot which is extremely intricate. The 'love to hate' villains and their machinations are so diabolical one wonders can justice be served! The ending is picture perfect requiring a box of tissue. The authors' attention to all aspects of detail relating to the historical and societal parts are remarkably interesting. Loved it!
A satisfying conclusion to the trilogy "The Diamond of the Ton." Definitely not a standalone read, and the trilogy should be read in order to understand the characters' relationships and the history of the period. I particularly appreciated the espionage and scheming by myriad European powers trying to gain an advantage over each other, and the authors clearly researched this period of history extensively. The action is sometimes slowed by multiple paragraphs describing the characters' thinking, but those are easily skimmed. Thank you to the authors for the eARC.
This was a wonderful ending to the series. I loved the intrigue and action, and the challenges the characters had to face. I loved seeing all the characters develop through the two related book series.
One moment had me laughing my head off for several minutes. Other parts brought me to tears. Now that I have finished reading it, I'm not ready to let go of this world and move on - I want to revel in the world and the friendships of the characters longer.
I loved reading the historical notes at the end and seeing how closely the authors had researched and woven in true events and people.
I stayed up all night reading. OMG does this book deliver! It's by far my favorite of the series. I did NOT see the plot twist coming. I feel sad having finished it- I absolutely fell in love with Charity and Perry. Thank you Anne and Lynn for the ARC. I'm so grateful for the opportunity to read it before everyone else and simultaneously sad that the story is over ( although I'm still hoping for Selina and Thorne's story!)
Absolutely love this book. So many twists and turns. What Does Marian Fitzroy plan for Perry and Charity? Will they ever have the chance to marry? Will one or both of them be harmed by Perry's mother? And what about Charity's family? Will they let their hatred for Perry make them turn their backs on Charity? We know Marian is planning something. She wants to punish England for who knows what reason. And what is going to happen to Lark, Perry's much younger sister? A must read.
It seems like years have passed since the beginning of the series, though I think it’s simply because so much has happened in the books with this group of people.
The authors continue to develop characters well, to highlight nuances between certain characters without it seeming contrived or silly. The group of people who choose each other as friends and, in a very important way as family, stick together to foil Lady Fitzroy‘s nefarious plans. Lots of excitement there!
I wasn’t terribly satisfied with the way in which justice was meted out when she had been guilty of so many murders, so much cruelty and so much abuse over so many years.
The book also concentrates on not only how important love is between siblings and sweethearts, but also between dear friends who have a shared vision.
Very much enjoyed the book—the the ending was a little abrupt.
A tour de force and, I think, a classic for years to come. I wanted to just dip into this book (the culmination of a third trilogy of romance and politics in England in the early 1800s) but - no way! I ended up reading pages and pages. It is simply marvelous - the excitement keeps you breathless, and the anticipation addictive. The level of writing matches or exceeds the other excellent books, so grab your copy and dive in! - I received an advance copy and freely leave this honest review.
Wow! This one has it all. Blackmail, attempted murder, conspiracy and that's just the tip of the tale. We can add treatchery, bribery, and poisoning. In the midst of this courtly chaos and international intrigue there's an intense romance between the Charity and Perry. Could not put this one down! Am so looking forward to the next installment .
Lady Charity & Lord Perry are again caught up in family drama as his mother reappears…for what reason We do not know. And there are other devious forces at work plus Charity’s parents. The best news is that love is in the air as Perry proposes to Sparkles - of course it’s Not announced but it settles one thing as they work together with Queen Charlotte to face the unknown. A fantastic read!
It is so hard to believe the series is over, and what an ending it was. The intrigue and plot twists kept me turning the pages deep into the night. The character arc of Charity and Perry led to a satisfying conclusion. Although this could be read as a standalone, it is much better to read the three books in order.
I have never been so tempted to fast forward to the end of a story! The twists, the turns, the nail biting. What an amazing and stunning series. I adore each and every character and will definitely have this series on my “to read again every year” list. I can’t wait for more stories from the amazing world the authors have created!
A brilliant read, the plots and sub plots are so cleverly made. One's emotions are torn at different times throughout - from the simple love of two people, to the risks they take, willingly or not! All of their "family" are so intertwined with it all, there is the constant concern that they might not make it to the end of the book. More, please!!
All you could want and more! This absolute page-turner gives anyone who read the first two books in the Diamond of the Ton trilogy engrossing subplots as Charity and Perry face challenges everywhere they look.
Each book in the regency series is amazing. Read them all and be totally immersed into a whole new, for you, life experience. These books are beautifully crafted and a joy to read. I loved each one and hope that the authors will provide us with more. Thank you Lynn Morrison and Anne Radcliffe. Sincerely, kdh
The grand finale, and no disappointments here at all! Action packed, more twists and turns than you can shake a stick at, what a roller coaster ride of a series. Absolutely brilliant!
