This MMC was dropping lines that had no right to go so hard in a novella. I cried. Obsessed. Can't wait to dig into the ARC of a full-length book set in this world!

I loved this so much! The world of Tau Ceti is captivating, and Onyx's writing is immersive, with vivid worldbuilding despite being a shorter novella, and flowing, emotive prose.

Both characters are well-developed. There's a real depth of friendship and connection between Paige and Salkodar; there are true, deep feelings between them, not just lust, and the tension is palpable. I was screaming "JUST KISS ALREADY" numerous times.

Salkodar is sexy as f*ck. I'm not a 'book boyfriend' kind of reader, but I need an Icthian who will hold me and purr, "I would ruin you in the most delicious way." *fans self*

I am now chomping at the bars of my enclosure for Onyx's first novel (with a female Icthian, BRING IT ON!).

CAPTIVATED BY THE COURIER was a fun little read introducing the Tau Ceti Awakened universe. I always love a good sci-fi romance featuring aliens and humans trying to co-exist! This was a novella so the world building was a little bare bones on the dynamics of the universe, but I do feel like we got a good understanding of the Icthian species. I just wish there was a little more information about why it's so taboo for Icthians and humans to be in a relationship but hopefully that will be something we get in the next book.

Overall, the writing was a little more flowery than I generally like and some sentences were structured in a way that disrupted the reading flow but I really liked the characters that Onyx Sullivan created. Paige was an introverted cancer survivor and while she wasn't always the best at speaking up for herself she was incredibly resilient. When the book started she was already friends with Salkodar but I liked that it was obvious she had never been bothered by this alien features and traditions. Salkodar was also a great MC with a mile wide protective streak and a willingness to do anything to make Paige happy. Together they made a really cute couple and we even got some spicy moments thrown in.

This set a nice stage for the series and I'm looking forward to reading book 1 when it comes out!

A Charming and Unexpected Favorite

Captivated by the Courier was such a fun read! I was a little hesitant to pick it up at first because it’s a novella, and I usually find them lacking in character depth. Thankfully, that wasn’t the case here at all. The characters felt vibrant and fully developed, and I absolutely loved the chemistry between the main couple. Their banter and teasing made the relationship feel natural, effortless, and genuinely relatable. I spent most of the book smiling while reading. I highly recommend this novella!

What a great intro to a new series! Captivated By The Courier is a short story set in a dystopian future in the Tau Ceti system controlled by a capitalistic human run Federation that oppresses both humans and the alien Icthians. It’s giving some great Farscape vibes with the way both humans and Icthians could face consequences by intermingling too much together. Despite all that, Paige and Salkodar decide that being together is worth it in spite of everything to get their happily ever after. Great world building and character development.

Solid one shot. It’s a great introduction to the setting and I really felt the chemistry between Salkodar and Paige. Their romance feels solid and earned despite the short novella length of their story.

I loved the seamless disability rep that felt natural and not gratuitous.

Definitely looking forward to reading the first novel length entry into this world soon.

This was cute. The spice didn't happen until the epilogue. The characters are absolutely adorable and I enjoyed getting to know them.
