A thorough look at the life and legacy of Thayer. I liked that the book examines the forces that shaped Col Thayer. It is a great read for any West Point grad, or anyone who loves engineering, or academia.

As a West Point graduate, I really enjoyed this biography and gained a deeper appreciation for how instrumental Sylvanus Thayer was in shaping West Point into what it is today. I especially liked learning about the lesser-known drama with CPT Alden Partridge, which added depth to the Academy’s early history. Thank you to West Point Press for publishing this work and helping bring Sylvanus Thayer’s life and legacy to a wider audience
