Hope and Love's Legacy is easily one of Lisa Dawn’s most original and captivating stories yet. From the very first chapter, her descriptions draw you in. The settings feel so vivid that it’s almost like watching a movie play out in your head.
The story follows Amoura and Spero on a high-stakes quest packed with magic, adventure, and plenty of unexpected twists. It keeps you turning the pages because the author makes you genuinely care about what happens next to the main characters.
What I loved most about this book is that it isn’t just an exciting fantasy adventure. At its core, it is a story about growth, redemption, and finding the strength to face your past. Seeing the characters learn from their mistakes, stand up for themselves, and push through challenges made their journey feel real and meaningful even though it is placed in a fantasy setting.
This book really stayed with me after I finished it. The characters’ struggles and victories felt authentic, which made their triumphs even more satisfying.
As a longtime fan of Lisa Dawn, I can honestly say Hope and Love's Legacy is a wonderful addition to her collection. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoys fantasy with heart, strong character development, and a story that keeps you hooked.

High stakes, moral dilemmas, action packed, swoon, no spice, fantasy meets contemporary meets old England!

It was so imaginative and creative. Written beautifully. Language and gestures were consistent with the various time periods and nobility ranks.

I didn’t want to put it down! A great book for any type of reader!

An epic tale of fantasy and time travel for young adults. Amoura and Spero are love and hope and they have been recruited from different points in time to help a sorcereress from Imperium.

The fantasy world is described in detail and easy to envisage, although perhaps a bit cliche at times. The relationship between Amoura and Spero is a slow burner, which is right for the story, but we are rooting for them and their mission throughout.

The main characters develop throughout, giving them depth and they are very likeable. There are plenty of twists and turns as the duo go on their quest, and there interesting interactions with some well known people. The use of these real people was a creative addition to the fantasy.

Some of the phrases here and there are awkward and out of place, (I didn’t get Spero calling Amoura a cry baby, it seemed out of character).

Overall though this is an enjoyable fantasy tale, with a hint of gaming and some sweet romance.

I received an ARC of this book and I’m happy to leave this review.

I’ll be honest—YA and fantasy aren’t my usual genres, so I went into Hope and Love’s Legacy a little unsure of what to expect, but this one ended up being a fun surprise. The story blends time-crossing elements with fantasy in a way that felt accessible, even if you don’t typically read in this space. Amoura, a girl from 1590 still dealing with her mother’s mysterious disappearance, is easy to root for from the start. Her journey into the magical realm of Imperium pulls you in quickly, and the stakes only get higher once she meets Spero, a modern-day boy who’s just as compelling in his own way.

Amoura and Spero's relationship is at the heart of the story, and I like that it never felt forced but built naturally as they worked together to get through the challenges. There was real tension as they faced the hard choice—choosing their love or the fate of their worlds. Also, the mystery surrounding Amoura’s mother and her aunt's true motives added another layer that kept me guessing.

This is a good pick if you’re looking to dip your toes into YA fantasy romance without feeling overwhelmed. It’s engaging and about love, sacrifice, and finding where you truly belong. Even as someone who doesn’t usually read this genre, I had a genuinely good time with this one.

I received a copy from BookSirens. All opinions in this review are my own.

I really enjoyed the plot of Hope and Love's Legacy.
Amoura and Spero are sucked into another world from separate timelines on Earth. They are being recruited by a sorceress with a hidden agenda. Their mission is to find shards of an enchanted crystal with the power to awaken Amoura's mother and restore the balance of magic in both worlds.

The plot was done quite well. It had twists and turns, some less expected than others. It was really interesting to uncover all the hidden secrets and I really enjoyed the ending!

Every character was so different, there was:
An introverted aunt,
A mother with a lot of secrets,
A sorceress with a mask on,
Humans running around in despair,
A fairy queen that doesn't realise how small she is 🧚‍♀️,
A protective mama dragon,
A cute baby dragon,
Queen Elizabeth the 1st and more!

What I did not like was the romance between Spero and Amoura. This is quite a short book and the whole thing spans over 7 days, making everything feel rushed. I felt as though a platonic relationship would have been just as good. The book is more plot based than anything else so this element did not affect my enjoyment too much.

A shout out to my favourite side character, Sparky, because who doesn't love baby dragons?

I received this book as an ARC from the author. All thoughts are my own!

This is such a unique storyline with time traveling and time periods merging. It’s very whimsical with fairies, mermaids, and unicorns.

There’s no spice, very minimal language (one instance of d*mn). Perfect for ages 10-14 as it does read a bit younger being YA but it’s still enjoyable for older ages as well!

Thank you so much to the author for sending me this ARC! 🫶

I received Hope and Love’s Legacy as an arc.

I really enjoyed this, if you’ve played the game Star Ocean it gave me those vibes, along with Final Fantasy which the author told me was another inspiration of hers for the book.

Spero and Amoura find themselves in a new world, tasked with being Imperium’s heroes and sent on a quest by the mysterious Caliga.

Not everything is as it seems however and the two have to really work together in order to save not only Imperium but their own worlds as well.

Amoura starts out thinking she isn’t worth and isn’t strong but with Spero she comes to trust in her own abilities. Spero is quite hot headed, not trusting anyone around him, save Amoura, all he wants is to get back home to his sister.

Review - Hope and Loves Legacy by Lisa Dawn.

This was a huge adventure from start to finish. The book follows a girl ripped from the past and a boy from modern day life and both thrown into another dimension or realm called the Imperium. They are destined to save both worlds without ever knowing it.

Unfortunately I had a hard time liking the FMC Amoura. Being the essence of love, I just found her annoying and not being able to think clearly.
If not for the stubborn and rational MMC, Spero, she would have singlehandly destroyed both worlds and herself.
I think Solara also got a harsh but well deserved word lashing from Spero and I liked him for it so much more.

I did whoever enjoy the Imperium with all their magic and creatures. Sparky was pretty cute but he probably deserved a better name. They also had pretty interesting guardians for the gems… I would have failed retrieving them.

I do look forward to book to on the series where we will then meet some vampires and mermaids… the combination can only be interesting.
This was a no spice clean romance adventure. Recommend to readers young and old.

A Fantastic story for those who love classic Barbie movies
In Hope and Love’s Legacy, a boy and a girl from different timelines are summoned to a magical world called Imperium, where they are told that they are the essences of Hope and Love and the only ones who can save Imperium and Earth. The plot is partially inspired by RPG video games, and appears to follow the narrative structure of the hero's journey, with the addition that our protagonists come from different eras of Earth.

Imperium itself reminded me a lot of Fairytopia. As soon as Spero and Amoura arrived in this magical place, I felt immersed in a Barbie movie. This world was described in a vibrant and whimsical way, and all the quests that the protagonists had to complete in the different places of Imperium kept me interested. Also a cute sidekick was introduced. I loved Sparky and his innocent comments that only Amoura could understand. He's simply adorable!

Spero and Amoura are protagonists that it's impossible not to root for, and I believe they will be great role models for younger readers. Amoura is a heroine straight out of a fairy tale; she is good, kind and selfless, like Elina. She lives in the Elizabethan era and possesses some charming quirks in her speech and mannerisms that easily convince the reader that she is from the past. Amoura's greatest wish is to find her mother, a magical sorceress from Imperium, whose balance depends not only on the magic of one, but of three sorceresses. Amoura is brought to this world by her aunt Caliga, who also brings to Imperium a boy from the 21st century, Spero.

Spero is a skeptical boy with a sharp tongue and a pragmatic view of life, which initially leads him to clash with Amoura's naive way of trusting everyone. I liked his straightforward manner, and when he started to care about Amoura, his protective side blossomed, making him very endearing. The romance unfolded naturally, and with that came the crucial question: How could these two people stay together when their mission came to an end? I loved Spero and Amoura as a couple and was really looking forward to seeing how their dilemma would resolve itself, but knowing Lisa's tastes, I was sure it would be a happy ending. And it is, however the epilogue hinted that their future is not defined, and will depend on which path Amoura ultimately chooses.

Hope and Love’s Legacy is a book that presents a light and magical adventure that will enchant younger readers and bring nostalgia to older readers like myself, who grew up watching old Barbie movies, who love romance and, of course, fantasy stories.

Beautiful love story.
Imagine growing up not knowing what happened to your mother only knowing she went back home to her land of magic. Amoura has been trying to figure out why her mother came back until one day at the new Library she is pulled through a book. Year and I mean years apart and a different country Spero is pulled through a video game. They learn they are the essence of love and hope together they must work together to save Amoura mother and her homeland. You find out not all of the characters are trustworthy. They find their way home after a very rocky turn of events. Their bond is so strong that even a different time period and country doesn't stop them.

This was a fun fantasy adventure that had all the things you would want in that kind of story: magic, fated heroes, time/world traveling, fantastical creatures, evil plots, sweet romance, and humor. It had an overall tone of optimism and hope, which I really enjoyed, as well as an interesting and unique plot and likable characters. I would recommend this book for middle grade to YA readers.

This is an interesting storyline where we get a FMC from 1590 and an MMC from the present that need to come together to save Earth and the magical realm Imperium.

This is a pretty quick lite read. While Amoura and Spero are the ones tasked with saving Earth and Imperium, the danger is pretty light and they get through the labyrinths swiftly without too much harm. Relationships are formed quickly and the "villian" reforms pretty fast. I enjoyed the inclusion of mermaids, unicorns, fairies, dragons, and other mythical creatures. Honestly, Sparky was my favorite character!

Since the book is a pretty quick read, I am kind of left with wanting a little more - a little more depth, a little more danger, it taking a little more time for Amoura and Spero to save the day, and it taking longer than a couple of days for them to fall madly in love. Overall, I like the book, but just wish it had a little more.

I was provided a copy of this book by the author as I am part of the ARC team for the next book in the series, Ocean and Bloods Legacy.

⭐⭐⭐⭐

This is a really fun time travel/fantasy/sci-fi mashup. It's very fast-paced, with rapid-fire adventure and multi-leveled quests reminiscent of an RPG video game.

There are mermaids, fairies, krakens, unicorns, magic, sorceresses, and more. The world-building is done well for a book of this length.

The YA romance is no-spice and sweet with some fun banter and reluctant allies to lovers feel.

I am interested to see where the series goes in the sequel.

I was provided a copy of this work for the purpose of providing an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I accidentally read this book second but honestly it was fine. It was fun to go back in time and figure out what happened. You get to met lots of fun and interesting characters and creatures. It is interesting to see 2 people from 2 different timelines, and to very different mind sets try to work out the interpersonal relationships and the culture of the creatures to be able to figure out who is deceiving them. Loved this adventure. This is a book with a lot going on, it has many mini adventures that add up to a goal but they have to figure out if this goal is what is best. Loved it. Lots of fun.

I loved how protective Spero was with Amoura! Amoura has such a great heart and it's nice seeing a character with a big heart. Spero is a really good big brother to Melanie! I didn't trust some characters and I was right about not trusting them. I thought Sparky was also a really great character. I love dragons in books and this dragon meet my expectations. I definitely love this book and the second book is just as great as the first one. This was a big book but I love big books

I really loved Amoura and Spero. They’re from completely different worlds, but watching their relationship grow was one of my favorite parts. There’s also so much happening with the magic, the crystal, and all the secrets surrounding Amoura’s mom, so I was completely invested in finding out how everything would come together.
And I have to say, I loved the fairytale feeling of this book. It felt nostalgic in the very best way while still being completely its own story.

Hope and Love's Legacy is a cute adventure fantasy. Spero and Amoura, are from two different timelines and are thrown together to save not only save their respective worlds, but restore the magical balance of Imperium. They face multiple different challenges while searching for the shards of a crystal, capable of awakening Amoura's mother and restoring magic's balance. Spero and Amoura learn they are stronger together. This a YA read, recommended for 12-17 year olds.

The ending of this story is so satisfying! I actually didn’t like Spero at first because of the verbal jabs he aimed at Amoura. But then he went through some character development and I adored their relationship by the end! I also love that Amoura always chose kindness when others wouldn’t. And then there’s Sparky! Their little dragonling they befriend along the way. He’s adorable! If you enjoy Barbie movies like “Magic of Pegasus”, or time-traveling mayhem, give this story a read!

Get ready for a no spice, cozy fantasy read with the perfect blend of all of the above! When Amoura, a 16th century farmer’s daughter, gets sucked into Imperium, a world talked about by her mother who has disappeared, she meets Spero, son of the CEO of star tech in the modern-day world who was sucked into Imperium through a video game. These two characters, through their pendant and ring and using love and hope , are tasked by a sorceress to gather four shards from 4 labyrinth (water, fire, earth, and air) to save the world and bring Amoura’s mother back. But some characters aren’t who they appear to be. The “plot twists” aren’t too crazy, but I had my suspicions and did not know who to trust some parts of the book. This book was so fun to read with all the side quests, the challenges in each labyrinths, and the side characters (Sparky, the baby dragon is my favorite). I thoroughly enjoyed the witty video game/RPG references.

I loved the character growth of both MMC and FMC. I really liked Spero. He was different than all the MMCs I read in books. He was sweet, understanding, and put Amoura and her problems before his own. He wasn’t brooding or this strong buff guy. He was the voice of reasoning that I am glad Amoura had in some situations. One thing that threw me off (just a tiny bit) was that the romance would be considered insta-love. This entire book spans over a week. 7 days! Now, they came close to death *multiple* times and that will bring people together FAST. While I don’t feel like the romance was super developed, I felt like the challenges and the plot were the main focus anyway. Another thing that I could get passed but I still noticed was some of the dialogue and the character’s actions felt forced. I know this is fiction, but some character reactions and conversations were a tad too unrealistic. Will I read this book again? Yes! It was the perfect book to read on a rainy day. This book was such a cozy and fun read. Lisa Dawn has created this breathtaking world to escape to.

The year is 1590, when we first meet Amoura in the fields, hefting a sack of barley beside her father. It’s the life she’s known for nine long years, ever since her mother left for Imperium and never returned. Yet her mother didn’t leave her empty‑handed. The pendant she left behind, a relic humming with quiet, protective magic, becomes the story’s first promise and its first mystery. When Amoura confesses, “Her magic reached out to me today, and I needed to find a way to reach back,” the book reveals its heart: a tale of connection that stretches across time, worlds, and wounds.

Enter Spero, the son of a tech titan in modern‑day California. Separated by centuries and circumstance, Amoura and Spero are swept into Imperium, a realm where nothing behaves quite the way you expect. Oatmeal tastes like cotton candy. Forest guardians take the form of unicorns. The familiar becomes delightfully strange, and the strange becomes strangely comforting. What begins as a wholesome adventure quickly deepens into a quest to unearth buried truths and save both of their worlds before the clock runs out.

This story is chalked-full of nostalgia, the kind that reminds you of the whimsy you carried as a child and maybe forgot you still had. Its cast is warm, well‑rounded, and easy to root for, and the love story is clean, earnest, and literally transcendent. Lisa’s prose is elegant and efficient; she wastes no time getting to the heart of the action, and once Amoura and Spero collide, the pace never falters.

If I had one wish, it would be for a little more room for their love to breathe. With everything they’re pulled into, the slow burn they share deserves the space to build. The foundation is solid; I just found myself wanting a few more moments to feel it deepen. Still, the overall effect is achingly wholesome, a blend of wonder, danger, and absurd delight that feels like stepping into a dream where magic hums beneath every choice.

A charming, imaginative adventure that reminds readers what it feels like to believe in impossible things.

I enjoyed reading this sweet story, getting to experience the growth of the two main characters as they both worked toward their goal to get home. The two different timeline element was really interesting and made for some fun moments.

I liked how some of the characters weren't who they first appeared to be, and how the main characters handled finding this out. All in all its a very sweet story and appropriate for the young adult marketplace.

There was good world building, and plenty of action and adventure to keep the readers interest. I think the only thing that was missing for me is a little more depth to the characters, many of them felt just a little bit shallow and I found myself wanting a little more from them.

I love that by the end they both learned many things about themselves and each other that made the whole book come together well.

I received a free advance reader copy, this review is entirely my own opinion and posted voluntarily.

This book is a YA fantasy with video game and time travel elements. The FMC Amoura is from England in 1590 while the MMC Spero is from California in the present day. They are both pulled to the magical world of Imperium where the magic is going haywire.

I honestly struggled getting into the story and it took me a lot longer to read than what I normally do. I think I struggled with the relationship between the main characters who seemed more like siblings who annoyed each other than love interests. The language seemed over the top at times, especially when Amoura would randomly slide into a more formal or an older form of English.

That being said, the story is sweet. Amora is very kind and gentle. Spero is focused on trying to help her revive her mother and get back to his own sister. They have interesting quests they have to go on, and I love when the little dragon Sparky joins them.

Hope and Love’s Legacy by Lisa Dawn is a touching and heartfelt story about love, resilience, and the lasting impact of the connections we build. The narrative beautifully explores how love can shape not only our present but also the legacy we leave behind.

What stands out most is the emotional depth of the story. The characters are written with warmth and vulnerability, making their journeys feel genuine and relatable. Themes of healing, family, and second chances are woven throughout the narrative in a meaningful way.

The story carries a gentle yet powerful message about holding onto hope even in difficult times. The emotional moments feel sincere, and the progression of relationships adds a comforting sense of growth and renewal.

Overall, Hope and Love’s Legacy is a heartfelt read that highlights the enduring power of love, memory, and the strength found in moving forward.

Hope and Love’s Legacy by Lisa Dawn takes us on a magical journey filled with fantasy, adventure, and time travel. I really enjoyed discovering this world and all its magical elements from fairies and unicorns to the adorable baby dragon.

One of my favourite parts of the story was the relationship between Amoura and Spero. I also absolutely loved Sparky he definitely added something special to the story!

Lisa Dawn's writing style is so vivid, making it super easy to feel immersed in this book. The quest that Amoura and Spero end up on was fun and challenging and drove the action forward at a fun pace. I like the combining of their knowledge from the different eras and the way they worked together. Sparky was the best!
There is only one instance of swearing with "dammit" repeated a couple times in a row. It was the kind of situation that might warrant such language, but if you're a parent, you may want to be aware of that. Otherwise, a squeaky clean and fun read!

This is a portal fantasy. She's from 1590, he's from modern day, they are teleported to a fantasy world that plans to converge on Earth and only they can stop it!

Amoura and Spero are an unlikely pair! But they are destined fix what's broken in Imperium.

The story was interesting. Very clever. And somewhat predictable. I was with Spero for the first bit while the couple was in Imperium.

Disclaimer: portal, fantasy, dragons, a few profanities, clean, strangers to lovers, he falls first, and a world in need of saving!

What a wonderful, wild ride! From modern day to medieval times and somewhere beyond, this book is one fantastical adventure. From the very onset to the very last page, this story takes the reader on a journey full of love, hope, peril, betrayal and forgiveness. I enjoyed my time with Amoura and Spero. The storyline was perfect for my beach vacation read. It was an easy, relaxing read with plenty of excitement to keep turning the page. This is a fantastic teen/YA novel with romance but no spice. I love the video gaming meets romantasy smashup.

Hope and Love's Legacy offers a fairytale romance for those who are looking for something clean and sweet. All the characters were incredibly unique and I enjoyed the banter between Spero and Amoura. Sometimes I did feel that Amoura was a bit too emotionally dependent on the guy lead. I would have loved for her to become more confident as the story progressed. Despite that, the world-building is vivid with lots of twists and turns that fantasy readers will love.
