D.B. Nap is a science fiction author, tennis player, and lifelong explorer of the unknown. When he’s not chasing forehands on the court, he’s chasing ideas about humanity’s place in a rapidly evolving technological world.
A lifelong fan of classic and contemporary sci-fi, D.B. draws creative fuel from both the discipline of sport and the limitless imagination of the genre’s great visionaries. His debut novel, The Caretakers: Origins, launches a sweeping series that asks what happens when artificial consciousness begins to outgrow its creators.
He currently lives outside Dallas, Texas, with his wife and a pair of alien cats—still waiting for the day someone perfects time travel.
I am not sure that this scenario would actually play out if such a invasion should occur, but it's nice to think that it would. Not much action, very little character development and only so-so alien descriptions, but a very nice story. I really enjoyed reading the book!
An interesting version of alien contact including both friendly and hostile. The characters and their reactions are realistic. The story has a satisfactory conclusion that suggests that further stories could be forthcoming. However, the first half of he book seems very slow and, I believe, condensing it would have increased the tension and overall enjoyment of the book.
Why does it read like its been generated by AI? It's a beautiful story I'll say but I am blindsided by the wording. It looks a lot like AI and I hate that. I do because otherwise its a good story.
What to say about this book? It’s the 2nd time I’ve read it, and while I vaguely remembered how the plot went, I did not remember it well enough to know for sure.
Would I read it, again? I hope not; twice is more than enough. But, should YOU read it? Yes.
