This one unexpectedly landed in my reading pile and was a pleasant surprise. Short, episodic stories of the nominal character Travis and his fire fighting travails. A hint of early Carver with the wry cynicism of a Zevog song. If stitched together into a novella Travis' meanderings could be similar to those of Brown Dog, Jim Harrison's infamous character that first appeared in the novella "The Woman Lit By Fireflies".
