Lorain has been a prisoner of her secrets for almost her entire life. At the age of thirteen, she managed to keep her pregnancy a secret, discarding the infant and leaving it for dead. Years later, Lorain’s mother finally met the love of her life, and Lorain couldn’t find the courage to tell her mother that her new beau was the man who molested Lorain and impregnated her. Now, to complicate matters, Lorain discovers that the baby she abandoned all those years ago survived, and God has placed Lorain in her now adult child’s life. It seems like the legacy of secrets has been passed on, too, as Lorain helps her daughter conceal the true details behind one of her own pregnancies.
Lorain has managed to maneuver the secrets and lies like pieces in a strategic game of chess and is now living the lavish, fairy-tale life of a doctor’s wife. But even that is a lie. With the rug about to be pulled out from under Lorain by the woman who raised her abandoned child, all Lorain prays for is that everything will end well. In this cycle of lies, secrets, shame, and guilt, will Lorain get what she prays for?

Book #3 from the Always Divas Series is my favorite from this entire series. The main character, Lorain has been Blessed to live a lavish lifestyle being the wife of a Millionaire Doctor. And, it's so very interesting to see the lengths that a Person will go to, in order to save and protect what they may feel is Rightfully theirs. But, who's to say it is theirs to keep? This Book literally keeps you interested from beginning to the very end; wondering the outcomes and fate of the all characters. This time, E.N. Joy does not have any dull moments that bores the reader, at all. Which was my issue with Book #2 and the storyline about Paige. Initially, I enjoyed reading it, all together. But, it became so dragged out that the Paige character always seemed to show " Indecisiveness" too many times with Ryan. To me, It All just screamed...Toxicity because it continued in other books the Paige character was in also. However, I still Love E.N. Joy and her work! The way that she incorporates The Word of God in her Novels is simply a Gracious Gift. And, each piece always ends with a Testimonial Praise!!
This novel started with Lorain, trying to do what doctor's wives do, fake it around other doctor's wives at get-2-gethers. I so wondered what it may be like, but seemed like an episode of the BET show: The Game (when Tia was on there is when I last watched some episodes). Regardless of the façade of the rich and famous lifestyles, I was glad to read some recollections of the characters to take me back from the other Diva series.
What I truly took from this read, Korica finally shared her life experiences with the biological mother of Unique, and realized that my woe-is-me tales is nothing compared to someone else's. I know it had to be hard for Unique to accept the one whom let her go (biological parent) and the one whom took her in (foster parent) but both uniquely loved her; yet continue to do and say tit-4-tat whose her TRUE mommy! Lorain finally came clean by confessing her dirty secrets to Jesus!
*Let past be past and let the good times last! I know in the novel it was a verbal gesture: "like a Lifetime movie" but honestly I would like to see this novel as such. (And why did it have to get so good at the end!!!!)
Reading the eBook version, at times, no spacing to see the POV changing and in the mindset of other characters a paragraph or two later. Normally I don't see this, especially since I've read all the series up to date. Just my own side note. (I do this at times as an author too....like it's a movie).
Lorain has been through so much since the age of thirteen. Lorain was a pregnant teen that hid her pregnancy and threw the baby away. Lorain held on to so many secrets. Lorain discovered that the baby survived. Lorain began to have a relationship with Unique, the baby she threw away. Unique had secrets of her own also. We need to realize that we serve an on time God; He may not come when you want Him to, and He will show up and show out!!!!
This book was dramatic, inspirational and romantic. The character were on point but grandma Eleanor had a mouth she cuss everyone. Eleanor daughter was 13 when she got pregnant but she had the baby and threw it in the garbage .Korica the neighbour see when it was done she took the baby and raise it without as anyone knowing. She raise that child in womanhood but she got caught in the wrong crowd with drug and 5 babies, 3 died and 2 was adopted by her paternal mother. To adopt the babies she hurry and got married to her doctor boyfriend but it became a big problem for Korica. She set up the children father who was in jail to get the children are money. Its a beautiful story. Please read
E N Joy never fails me. Loraine thinks that she could hide from God and the truth, which is one and the same. We all try to live lives that aren’t ours and try to fix things ourselves instead of living in our truths. Elaine is a mess but so real in her sayings!
You Get What You Pray For Review. Don't Read Me Read a Book had the pleasure of reading and reviewing You Get What You Pray For by Author EN Joy. As always she delivered a novel that was written with purpose and healing within its pages. As a group we granted the book 4 stars. The book was well written with a storyline that was realistic and full of drama. This book is a perfect example of how unresolved issues can show up and force you to face the music. If you are looking for a book based on hidden secrets, and family drama ,then this is definitely a book you need to add to your reading list. As a group each member found themselves able to relate to the issues that the main character had to face. This story will make you laugh, cry, and provide you insight into family dynamics that are often pushed under the rug. This is an excellent read for young women of all walks of life, especially young ladies that may find themselves looking for courage and healing.
While this is not my first read by E.N. Joy, this is my first read of the series. I thought a fabulous job was done with the presentation of the characters & their situations making me feel as if I had read the previous books. Lorraine's life seemed to have come full circle with a positive outcome & it was through prayer & believing this was possible. I liked the connection between Eleanor, Lorraine & Unique. Loved the dialog in the scenes. Though Korica was not a favorite character, her presence was well needed. The storyline was one written for prime time TV. Realistic characters & content helped make this an enjoyable, heartfelt read I absolutely recommend!
I've been saying it since the "Mamas" met: Lorain took wayyyyyy too long saying a simple thank you. She was too busy being on her high horse. Miss Eleanor checked her though. I absolutely loved this book! It's real, I can relate. And it shows what happens when you think you have your life "together" and remove God from your equation. A hot, stinky mess!
This is my first book my this Author , i can say i really enjoyed the different read . I came out my box with this gender of book. Now about the book . Things that you think happened in the dark God see's it comes to light and God will guide you through . This is a book i will say tought me that when you ask God he will guide you . also keep the Faith in your life everyday.
E.N. Joy I love the Diva series Eleanor is and always be a hoot, but she gives great advise. Happy that Unique and her birth Mother have cleared the elephant in the room handover each other, Korica needed to vent. Great read!!!!!
I love this series. Lorraine has finally learned she can't check out on God because nothing goes according to plan when you do. After she got with the program, God truly blessed her and Nick.
This story shows you that whatever is hidden will always come to light. I love EN Joy`s work and will always support her. She always writes great christian themed work.
This book was so good. What's done in the dark will always come to light. Lorain was so worried about the wrong things. I must say this book had me hooked.
