After years of late-night gigs and small-town stages, Trace Davis has finally made it—her first album recorded, a national tour behind her…but it wasn’t the fairy tale she imagined. Between a controlling mother, a label pushing songs she didn’t believe in, and a tour that barely filled seats, everything feels like it’s spiraling out of control.
Now her team’s latest fix? A reality dating show designed to keep her in the public eye and stop her from sliding into irrelevancy.
But Trace is terrified of getting burned again. The last time she let cameras into her love life, it ended in public humiliation.
The source? Danny Miller. The man who unceremoniously dumped her on national TV.
He was her first love. Her greatest “what if.” The one she’s never been able to shake. And getting over him seems impossible—especially when he storms back into her life in a very big way.
Despite all their baggage, he makes one thing clear: he’s not ready to let her move on either.
Can they sort through the mess, pick up the pieces, and build something new? Or is Trace destined to have her heart broken…again.

Thank you Allison for this ARC copy! This book was a HIT for me. The trope was very specific, another “Reality TV” type of storyline - but it worked so well for me. Both characters had their quirks - I didn’t enjoy them both throughout the whole thing, however I saw growth in the characters that I enjoyed. Easy read with nice size chapters 👏🏻
I’m DNFing at 60%. The first book in this series wasn’t my favorite of hers but I held out hope for the second.
Overall I do enjoy a flashback and dual POV but I kept waiting to see how the MMC became relevant to the current story line and it was 200 pages before that happened. I also predicted what was going to get him back and I was right.
The FMC is almost 30 and lets everyone walk all over her. It seems to an extent she doesn’t have a problem speaking up to the MMC but lets everyone else control her. That got old real quick.
After reading other reviews on the matter, I want to point out that I did not mind Danny’s possessiveness at all. I didn’t find it to be too much. What DID bother me about it is that he keeps saying they can’t be together while basically not wanting anyone else to have her either.
So with all of that, at 60% when the MMC finally comes into the current story line I found that I was no longer interested in how it played out. I feel like all of the scenes leading up to it (with the show) added nothing of value to the story apart from showing that Trace is a door mat.
Thank you Allison for this delight! As someone who used to watch a lot of The Bachelor/Bachelorette, this was so fun! I was kicking my feet during Trace & Danny’s story, along with screaming at Brady. Fingers crossed for a Grant book next (would die if it was Emma!)
Thank you to the author for the eARC and the opportunity to review!
As a lover and avid watcher of reality TV, I feel very qualified to say that NO ONE writes reality TV novels better than Allison Speka! I loved The Reality Of It All, and didn't think another of her books would ever top it for me, but I think I just might have loved In Another Reality even more. *Make sure you read them in order to be fully immersed in the characters and for full emotional attachment*
What I love about Allison's writing, and it is something she absolutely nailed in this book, is how realistic her characters are. I had true rage towards Trace's mom throughout the entire book. She really did evoke real emotion in me because she felt so real. The same goes for Brady. I couldn't stand him as a person, but as a character he was very well developed and so necessary to the story.
I also really appreciate how all the side characters are just as important to the story as the MCs. I absolutely fell in love with Grant in this book. I was so happy to see him get the redemption arc that I didn't even know I was rooting for before now. It was so easy to enjoy him as a character with his humor and how much he showed up as a friend for Trace. I actually have my fingers crossed that he is the MMC in Speka's next novel (and I wouldn't be upset if Emma ended up as the FMC *hint, hint*).
With that being said, I loved the overall story line and reading about a Reality TV show significantly more than I loved the romance aspect of this book. I think if you don't go into it expecting an amazing romance, you'll enjoy it a lot more.
This was more of a *third* chance romance where the "third time is the charm" as opposed to a true second chance romance. I personally would not have given Danny a third chance and don't feel a single part of him deserved it. While I do understand his trauma and a little bit of where he was coming from, two break ups on his end for the same purpose were annoying. I can't really see what Trace saw in him to stick it out and feel like he was the great love of her life. I was very frustrated with him and with her for letting him off so easy.
This is a really unique story though in the sense that even though I didn't love their romance or even really believe in it, I still really enjoyed the book and it was an easy 4 star read for me. Allison is by far my favorite indie author and I truly don't believe she can write a bad book.
Happy release day! Thank you to the author, Allison, for another ARC opportunity! 4.5/5 ⭐️
I would definitely recommend starting with The Reality Of It All first. You do not necessarily have to in order to enjoy this one, but it gives so much more background to Danny and Trace’s story and makes their journey hit even harder. After finishing the first book, I was thinking, “What do you mean Danny and Trace didn’t work out?!” so I was very happy we got to continue their story here.
I also really loved the reality show setting in this series. Maybe there are other romance books that use this type of backdrop, but it felt really unique to me and added such a fun dynamic to the stories we have gotten so far.
One thing this author does especially well is setting up future stories through side characters. I love that this book itself actually started as the side story from the first book in the standalone series. It makes the world feel connected without taking away from the main couple, and this book does the same.
Danny and Trace definitely showed character growth throughout the book, even with all the up and down dynamics between them. I completely understand the “second, maybe even third chance romance” note from the author. The timeline flashbacks worked really well to fill in the gaps of their relationship history and added a lot of emotional depth. And the family dynamics? So good and so frustrating at times.
As always, I love this author’s writing style and banter. Her books always seem to balance humor, emotional connection, and just enough twists to keep things interesting.

Allison Speka has done it again! In Another Reality is an exciting and heartfelt book full of all of the dramatics of a reality tv show and all of the heart of a romance book. After reading The Reality of It All, I was so intrigued to see what was in store for Trace and Danny. I’m beyond happy that they are getting their happy ending now. From the very beginning of the first chapter of this book, I was enthralled and couldn’t put it down. Can’t wait to see what Allison does next!
The pros: -Trace was an interesting character -Trace and Emma’s friendship was nice and well developed -The structure of the book was interesting, with half being “then” and “now” and then switching to dual POV -the ending for Brady and Trace’s mom was satisfying
The cons: -although I liked Trace, I could not figure out what she found attractive about Danny -Danny is so off-putting and jealous, even though he was the reason they weren’t together for the entirety of the book -I was actively rooting for Tripp, even though I knew what the ending would be -I like that Trace started standing up for herself by the end of the book, but I hated that it didn’t even really start until after her reconciliation with Danny. She couldn’t have done it by herself? -the male characters are described as “stalking” a lot. “He stalked toward me” “he stalked away from me” I hated it.
Overall, this book fell very flat to me. I did not buy the chemistry between the two characters at all. If you like your MMC to be possessive and overbearing, this might be more up your alley, but it did not work for me.

I can’t lie, I’ve been a Alison Speka fan since the first book I ordered from her off of tik tok and I’ve ran to pre order every book since so I may be a little bit biased. However, how can you not love an author who takes the time to market her own stories, with a husband who markets them alongside her and is equally as supportive, not to mention a mother who hand makes custom bookmarks to go with each signed copy sold.
Now that I’m done raving about how Alison Speka is an instant purchase for each book she writes I can get into my five star rating of In Another Reality.
If I’m going to be more serious here In Another Reality probably ranks closer to a 4.5-4.75 for me. Partially just because I didn’t love love love Danny as a character whole heartedly.
In Another Reality follows around Trace and Danny after their epic blowup of a relationship carried over from the end of The Reality of It All. Danny has a lot of deep seeded hurdles that he has yet to overcome that just continue to cause problems for his relationship with Trace. Meanwhile, Trace has all of her own issues holding her back from growing into the country star she wants to become. Trace as a character is a powerhouse once she finally gets her voice and can’t be stopped at the end of the book. Sometimes it gets old following around the meek, timid, quiet female lead but the way Trace is finally allowed to come into herself and become the best version of herself possible the character growth makes this story that much more refreshing.
Now to get into my Danny issues. I just don’t think he did enough groveling. He annoyed me with his whiney-ness but at least that made it more authentic to most men in this day and age. He wanted her but he didn’t want to hurt her but he wanted her but couldn’t keep her around and kept playing this game of cat and mouse and dragging her through and forcing her down the path that he had in mind for her and him like everyone else in her life told her what to do. Finally getting to the end and him allowing her to be her own person while he remained his own person and they just got to do life together was his hero arc.
All said Trace’s mom is insufferable and I’m glad she got the villain edit the whole way through. I’m also glad that Brady’s villain edit caused Trace and Danny to go closer immediately rather than further apart before coming back together again.
I’m excited I got to read this book as an ARC. While I’m not one to always go super in depth with my reviews I tried to do my best to show my appreciation for the opportunity. All being said I will most definitely be purchasing a physical copy of this book once I’m able to add to my Alison Speka signed collection.

I need to start this review off with mentioning just how outraged and heartbroken (I may be a smidge dramatic, but still…) and shocked I was at the ending Trace and Danny got in The Reality of it All. I was more shocked by that than the main twist in that book! So I was absolutely giddy when I found out Allison was writing this story! If you haven’t read the first book, do it now! You don’t need it for this book but it add SO much more to their story and relationship if you do read it.
Allison is such a talented writer, her writing style reminds me a lot of Katherine Center. It flows flawlessly, is simple yet evokes emotions and deep thoughts while still keeping things fairly light. The small twists and the banter and the placement of the dual timelines enhanced the story and kept me so invested. I could not put this book down.
I have to say Danny was kind of infuriating at times but I also was so in love with his character when we got his POV. He was in serious need of redemption but there were moments in this book where I didn’t feel like he qualified for it but there were even MORE moments where I was like, ya he deserves it. It was a tug of war but it felt intentional because the payoff was that much sweeter.
Trace is a character who I think so many people can see bits and pieces of themselves in her. She’s incredibly relatable in her feelings and what she has gone through since the first book. She comes off as strong and yet reserved. She is a people pleaser but slowly we see Danny help her find her voice and stand up for herself and what she wants.
The men on the dating show were so well written and provided many layers to the story and a comedic relief as well as a few different villains. I was estate when a certain G man from the previous book was there. I became even more invested when I got that reveal early on.
Definitely recommend! Allison Speka is an auto buy every time. She never misses!
Huge thank you to Allison for the ARC—this one was such a great surprise and such a fun read.
I was pulled in from the start and ended up flying through it way faster than I expected. It has that easy, addictive flow where everything just clicks, and you don’t feel like you’re working to stay engaged. I was invested!
One thing I really liked was how the timeline was handled. Moving between past and present actually added to the story instead of making it confusing. It slowly fills in the gaps in a way that keeps you curious, and just when you think you have it figured out, there’s enough of a twist to keep things interesting.
Danny and Trace’s story really worked for me. There’s a lot of history there, and you can feel it in the way they interact. The tension builds naturally, and the progression of their relationship felt believable—especially when it comes to rebuilding trust. To me reality TV and "famous" aside it could have been any relationship that faltered and the couple really wanted to try again. It didn’t feel rushed or forced at all in my opinion.
I also liked seeing the reality show element come back into play and how it tied everything together with familiar characters. It added a layer of familiarity without taking away from the main storyline. Maybe another storyline eventually for Grant in another book??
The writing is smooth and easy to fall into but still carries emotional weight. There were definitely moments that hit a little deeper without feeling too heavy and others that just made me chuckle as I was reading—it felt well balanced overall.
This ended up being a full 5-star read for me. It’s engaging, a touch emotional without being overwhelming, and just a really solid story from start to finish. I’ll definitely be recommending it and look forward to release day.
Thank you to the author (Allison Skepa) for the opportunity to read another arc.
I was very excited to read Trace and Danny’s book because ‘The Reality of it All’ was my first book by this author, so it was nice to get some closure on a surprising ending with those two characters from that first book that caught me off guard.
Let me start by saying I started rage reading this book at about the 40 or 50% mark because Danny pissed me off so bad. The dynamic between the MC’s started heading in a very unhealthy direction and I was getting very upset about it and wondering how it was going to end because it was a fine line that the MMC was skirting. The only reason I’m not overly upset is because the MMC took responsibility for his thoughts, feelings, and emotions.
The FMC’s mother on the other hand, I forgot how much of a piece of work she actual was and I feel like this book touched on some emotional abuse between a parent and child while also highlighting unhealthy boundaries and co-dependencies. If those are frustrating topics because they hit close to home you’ve been warned.
With all that said I’m still giving this book a solid 4 ⭐️’s. I enjoyed the story, I love a good flash back moment for context, then flash forward to present until the timelines converge and the story continues. It wasn’t confusing at all and I enjoyed the additional depth to the story.
Most of the authors books are inner connected but can be read as a stand alone. If you’re looking for a good pallet cleanser and like supporting indie authors check her out.
I really liked the layout of this book. It was so different from anything I’ve read before. The first half is single POV, switching between Trace in the present and her past with Danny after their ending in ‘The Reality of It All’. Then the second half shifts to dual POV in the present, which I thought worked really well.
‘The Reality of It All’ was the first book I ever read by Allison, and I’ve been hooked ever since. I was so excited that Danny and Trace were getting their own story because the ending of that book had me like “what?!?!” Now, can we get a Grant and maybe Emma?! 👀
Allison always does such a great job of pulling you into her stories, and this one was no different. While I didn’t connect with the characters as deeply as I hoped, I still found myself really invested in their story. Now that I’ve read more books, I’m realizing reality TV based stories might not always be my favorite, but Allison still does them well.
Trace’s mom definitely frustrated me at times. The way she spoke to her and inserted herself into things felt a bit overbearing, but it also added a lot to the story and helped shape Trace’s character.
I also would have liked to see a little more groveling from Danny and maybe a bit more pushback from Trace. That said, I still appreciated their journey and growth together.
Overall, this is a solid 4 star read. It wasn’t a top favorite of mine, but I still really enjoyed and flew through it. I loved their ending and glad Danny finally got it together.
(4.25 ⭐️) I was hooked at only 1% in- right from “Absolutely the f*ck not!” I love Allison Speka’s writing, and she has done another incredible job with In Another Reality. I was so happy to find out we were going back to the world of The Reality of It All and getting Danny and Trace’s story. I loved the way the book was written. At first we only get Trace’s 1st person POV as we are presented with her view of two timelines, the present and her slowly unfolding past with Danny post-show. Once we’re caught up and Danny becomes part of her present, the book shifts to dual POV. I love this choice by Allison. I’m glad she didn’t just leave us in single POV. The one downfall to this book is how angry Danny makes me; his choices are so infuriating he skirts the line of being too toxic to root for because Trace is so sweet and likable. That said, Allison did have to work with what was written in the first book, and their breakup was always based on a thin excuse. Giving us his POV saves him here. We are able to see his real love for Trace, see him take responsibility, and, to his credit, once he decides to really go after her- he gives it his all. The love these two have for each other is so clear and their chemistry jumps off the page. What a fun second-chance romance this turned out to be. I LOVED the choice of having Grant be part of the cast and I am BEGGING- please please please let us go back to this world one more time so we can get Grant’s story!!!! (ARC Review: thank you so much to Allison Speka for my gifted copy, for which I am voluntarily leaving a review)
I am a second chance romance lover, so I was SAT from the beginning.
I really loved the way this book was sectioned out to reveal Danny & Traces past and present. Having a second reality show to content with brought on extra characters that you couldn’t help but love and built the tension between our MC’s.
I absolutely ADORED Trace! I love how she was the perfect balance between being soft and holding her ground when she needed to. We can all relate to a difficult relationship with a family member, so I loved how she handled the relationship with her mother. It’s a beautiful thing to stay open to love in the face of heart break. It’s an even more beautiful thing to chase your dreams, even when it’s hard.
Danny, my sweet grumpy man. I really liked that when he went to get his girl back, he did the damn thing. My biggest gripe with second chance romance is that the hard conversations get shied away from. So I love how Danny & Trace ultimately found & fought their way back together.
The third act conflict was the exact right amount of conflict (even if it made my heart skip a few beats). And the Epilogue was the sweetest wrap up to their story!!
I’m hoping book 3 comes with a certain Reality TV star and a certain TV producer, but I’ll be excited for whoever’s story is next.
I had the absolute best time reading this. I cannot recommend this book enough!
I've read multiple books by Allison Speka, including The Reality of It All (where we first meet Trace and Danny) and knew I needed to read this one. I'm so glad I did! Although you don't need to read The Reality of It All, as this is a standalone, I still highly recommend reading that book first as it introduces multiple characters that you will meet in this book, including our main couple.
Trace and Danny met while filming a reality dating show called Tough Love. While they both fell for each other, Danny told Trace that he did not want to seek a relationship with Trace outside of the show, breaking her heart. Although we don't initially know the reasoning, we learn more about Danny in this book. I absolutely loved Danny's journey. In the past, he struggled to let Trace in, but his love for her powered through and helped him overcome his fears. I also loved the side characters, like Grant, Tripp, and Emma. I would love it if Emma and Grant got their own book because I definitely see something there.
Obviously, this book is a second chance romance. The first half of the book alternates between the past and present and is told from Trace's POV. The second half of the book alternates between Trace and Danny's POV.
Thank you so much to Allison Speka for the opportunity to read this book early! It was an amazing read and I highly recommend reading all of her books because she is such an amazing writer.
I absolutely adore Allison Speka's books and this one was no exception. Trace was so sweet yet so real and relatable that I could definitely see myself being friends with her if she wasn't fictional. Danny, on the other hand, made me extremely frustrated; I'm so glad I'm not actually Trace because then there would probably be no story to tell as I would have never given him a second (third?) chance! He does redeem himself by the end, don't worry, but getting there was a lesson in patience. This poor girl had to deal with him and her overbearing mother for so long and then Brady is thrust upon her and plays so many mind games, I don't know how Trace kept it together. Luckily, she had an Emma on her side as she was going through this Bachlorette type of reality show which brought humor and a bit of lightness to the whole experience. The guys that were competing for her "love" were mostly forgettable except Tripp and another character we have met before in a previous book (no spoilers here!) This is obviously a romance, but it's also about learning to speak up for yourself and having the guts to actually go after what you want. If there is a third book in this series I'm really hoping it's between Emma and that mystery man whom I previously mentioned. Thank you to Allison Speka for an advanced reader copy, I am so grateful to you!
I was SO excited to read Danny and Trace’s story. I’m already a sucker for a good second chance romance, but when you throw in a third chance too? I ate it up.
First off, I truly love Allison’s writing style. The way she writes her characters and storylines makes me feel like I’m watching my favorite TV show play out in real time.
Trace’s growth throughout this book was one of my favorite parts. Breakups are never easy, and neither is standing up to the people who hurt you especially an awful mother. I loved watching her fall in love, fall back in love, and ultimately get the happy ending she deserved.
Danny… my man, you cannot keep running away every time things get scary 😭 But I was so proud of him for finally coming back, staying, and fighting tooth and nail for Trace instead of giving up.
And Brady… Brady, Brady, Brady. Too much power really can go to someone’s head because he tested my patience the entire book.
I absolutely loved this story, and I really hope Allison keeps some of these character connections in future books because I would LOVEEE to see Grant get his own love story. He’s honestly become one of my favorite characters after being such a rock for Trace when she felt alone. I loved getting little pieces of his backstory in book one and even more in book two.

I had the absolute pleasure of reading this book as an ARC, and I can confidently say it exceeded every expectation I had going in. From the very first chapter, I was completely drawn into the story—the kind where you tell yourself “just one more page” and suddenly it’s 2 a.m.
The romance between Danny and Trace had a slow-burn tension that felt authentic and deeply emotional and I loved that their story progressed in this book. I loved that the reality TV show aspect came into play again, and how familiar faces were part of this novel too.
As with all of Allison’s books, the writing itself was immersive and heartfelt, striking the perfect balance between swoon-worthy and emotionally impactful. There were scenes that genuinely made me smile, and others that hit me right in the chest in the best way possible. It’s the kind of story that lingers with you long after you’ve finished.
If you love romance that gives you all the feels—connection, tension, heartbreak, and ultimately something deeply satisfying—this is one you don’t want to miss. I feel incredibly lucky to have read it early, and I’ll be recommending it to everyone I know. I cannot wait for the official release in May!
I really liked this book. I loved the first book so I was excited when I got to read the second book taking place once again back in television. I get annoyed some with the back and forth of the past and present but I knew it was important to the story to understand where the characters got to where they are now. I loved the reality TV show dating and it honestly surprised me because the MMC I thought was somehow going to jump in the dating show from the start and I loved the surprise we were given as readers. I loved Trace and watching her grow as a person to figure out what she wants in her life. There were only two minor things I didn't like. PERSONALLY, I wish she had made Danny grovel more because after their past I don't think I would've taken him back so quickly. I also wish Danny as a character had more to him. Like I loved him but I wish he had a little bit more depth to him instead of possessive macho man (which I don't hate I love that type of stuff). I just wish we got to know more about him besides his tragic past and his obsession with Trace.
I would 100% read this book again and just because there were a few minor things I disliked doesn't mean it should stop you from reading the book! <3
I am grateful for the opportunity to read and review another ARC read from an author I am new to, thank you Allison!
Overall I thought it was a fun storyline, based around a reality TV show. I had never read a book like this and thought it was an interesting plot. It really made me think about what goes on behind the scenes in reality TV especially dating shows 👀
Unfortunately I really had a hard time with the MMC, Danny. He came across aggressively possessive and it wasn’t really my cup of tea. I also would have liked Trace and Danny’s storyline to progress a bit slower, it felt very fast paced. I will admit I didn’t read the first book in the series (although I believe this is an interconnected stand alone) and maybe I would have received more context to help their relationship.
I would like to mention that Allison did a great job with detailing some of what a young pop star goes through, and also the unhealthy relationship between Trace and her mother, and how that really can effect someone.
Overall, if you are a fan of Allison I think you’d really enjoy this book, especially if you’ve read and enjoyed the first! If you’re looking for a fun storyline, give this one a try.
I thought the set up was really fun. It was like The Bachelorette, which I've never seen from a book before. I loved that Grant was in this one again as well. I enjoyed Trace but wish she would have had her growth a bit earlier on. I did find this book a bit difficult to push through though. I absolutely could not stand Danny. He was the least dynamic character. He had no personality outside of having a dead dad, having commitment issues, running his hands through his hair, and obsessive jealousy. You can't leave the "love of your life" high and dry on numerous occasions but be borderline violenty jealous and protective of her. Although I did think the end was cute, there was no growth for Danny. I felt like the only appeal Trace had with him was due to her low self esteem and "wanting what you can't have" he had no other redeeming qualities. Even her time at the cabin with him and his friends he had such off energy and I couldn't even like him then. I found myself rooting for her to end up with Tripp, or even Grant. Grant had WAY more personality than Danny, even if he's a flirt and jokester. The end was cute, despite not being what I wanted to happen.

𝗜𝗻 𝗔𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗯𝘆 𝗔𝗹𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗸𝗮. 𝟯.𝟱⭐️This books follows 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗶𝘁 𝗔𝗹𝗹 but can be read as a standalone. As someone who does not watch reality TV I can appreciate the ridiculousness of the premise of the book. Brady as the show runner makes a perfect villain. There are many over the top but fun moments. I loved Trace & Danny in the previous book so I was looking forward to this one. But my girl Trace, fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me. 🙈 Trace & Danny fell in love on a reality show only for Danny to get cold feet and dump her at the finale. Now Trace finds herself back on the screen trying to revive her career and placate her mom/manager. Danny has broken her heart twice but we will need flashbacks to see what happened and decide for ourselves if maybe third time is the charm. The brightest spot in this book is Grant. He is so ridiculous in the best way. If we get a book 3 I hope he falls hard and fast for a girl that takes no crap from him. 🤭 Thank you to the author Allison Speka for my advanced reading copy, all my opinions are my own.
I wanna note that I have been an Alison Speka fan since I first picked one of her books up (Always the Boyfriend 1000/10 highly recommend)
Generally I am not a fan of second chance romance books. They’re just not my cup of tea. But for this author? I’d read any type of romance.
Right from the get go having Danny crash her wedding???? Genius. I was hooked immediately. I was locked in. I needed to know how we got here. And then having that be in the MIDDLE OF THE BOOK??? I was riveted. I couldn’t put it down.
I absolutely loved the first half of the book. The past and present POVs were so fun. Getting to see Trace and Danny trying to be together, and learning more of why Danny did what he did at the finale was so endearing. Speka writes grief and trauma so incredibly well, I feel it in my soul right there with the characters.
I truly enjoyed being able to read Danny’s POV in the second half of the book. I feel that it helped his character development to see where he was at, and where he was coming from. In everyone else’s POV he’s this stoic, grumpy person. But he’s just a guy with trauma and grief that he’s still figuring out how to navigate, and struggling with not wanting to hurt someone the way him and his mother were hurt when his dad died. I feel like he earned his redemption in the end and they both deserved the HEA that they got.
I just gotta throw it out there, FUCK BRADY. When he was manipulating Trace and Danny at the end??? I was fuming!!!!
All in all, Alison Speka has done it again. She’s created a world of deeply complex story telling that still feels light hearted and rom-com esque. I will read every book she writes, as soon as she writes it. I’d read her grocery list, hell I’d read a car manual if she wrote it.

“Sometimes trust didn’t come easily. Sometimes it was a choice. Sometimes it was showing up every day until you believed it. Because even thought I didn’t fully trust him not to hurt me again, I trusted that he still loved me. And that would have to be enough for now.”💖
Advanced copy received by author. Thank you Allison for writing this fun parody of the bachelorette. This book follows Trace who is new to the country music industry who is in the process of writing her next album. Before becoming the new country bachelorette, she was previously on a reality show in which she fell in love with Danny who ultimately broke her heart during the show’s process. But now Trace needs to decide if she wants to put her heart out again to find love, or focus on her dream of being a country music star. I loved Trace and Danny’s angst throughout the book. I had butterflies whenever the story switched to them being at the cabin. For some reason, Trace reminded me a lot of Megan Moroney who is one of my favorite country singers at the moment.
I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.
If you’re a fan of the bachelorette/bachelor, this one is definitely for you! The book is technically the second book where these characters have been introduced, but I don’t read the first before this. Let me tell you, I bought book one before finishing this second book! I can’t wait to read that next.
My only complaint would be Danny’s hot and cold attitude really bothered me at times, but I loved that Trace didn’t let him get away with it too easily. She is a very relatable character that I feel everyone would route for and I’m so glad how everything ended for these two. I felt like it would be a little predictable going in, but am happy to report that I was on the edge of my seat with every back and forth POV.
I hope, if there’s another book to come in this world, that Grant and Emma get more “screen time.” I’d love to learn more about Emma and Grant is the perfect comic relief that deserves his happy ending too!
I just want to start by saying that i really wanted to like this book. I got the arc and attempted to start it many times. I ended up choosing to wait until the audiobook was out and try doing a combo of audio and ebook. This did make it a bit easier.
I wanna start by saying that it felt extremely repetitive and surface level. I could not stand Danny. And Trace girl what was that inner monologue. My favorite part was anytime Grant was in the scene. (If Grant gets his own book i will be def reading it)
🎧 review (i purchased with my own money)
I enjoyed that it was duet narration that was definitely a plus, however the narrator for Danny was so flat. No emotion whatsoever. On the other hand Trace’s narrator was overly emotional, and to be fair i didnt necessarily mind this munch.
All and all this book was just not for me.
A would like to thank the Author Allison Speka for the eARC in exchange for an honest review. Im sorry that i didnt enjoy this one as much but i will be reading your other books anyway because i did like book 1.
I was given an ARC of this book by Allison Speka and was excited to read this after hearing her description of the book. I loved The Reality of it all and even though she says there inner connected stand alones I love that it’s characters I’ve read about who have their own book now. In Another Reality follows Trace and Danny who had an interesting side story in The Reality of it all. I love that this book picks up with their lives and I liked the way it’s written with flashbacks then present with different chapters and both characters POVs. The characters seem real and believable as with all Allison’s books. I usually don’t read books like this but i thought the way she describes her books seemed interesting, “light on the spice, heavy on the banter like a 90’s rom com” I bought all her autographed paper books and the ones I’ve finished have been so good! This is a fun, happy book that’s easy to read and enjoyable.
I absolutely devoured this book! I wasn’t sure how I’d feel about Danny after The Reality of It All, but I fell in love with this story. It was Love is Blind meets the Bachelorette and it delivered the same enjoyment as reality tv.
The first half of the book alternates between current and past, taking the reader from the end of filming Tough Love to current, told from Trace’s perspective. When the reader is all caught up, we switch to dual perspectives and dig deeper into each character and really see their love story unfold.
Trace came across as a badass, compared to her topical story in the last book. It was great to see her evolve from people pleaser to independent woman and really own her decisions.
I’m quickly becoming a fan of Allison Speka. She writes a great romcom and solid characters with just the right amount of spice sprinkled in.
