One choice. Her future. Their fate.As a final resort to keep her college scholarship, Danika Metzner has agreed to be tutored by her ex-boyfriend's idol. But her new tutor, Gabriel, isn't just different--he's hiding something that defies everything Danika knows about reality. With every lesson, Danika is drawn further into his world, where something ancient is waiting, and the lines between friend, teacher, and other begin to blur.
When a devastating loss inverts Danika's world, she is forced to confront the impossible choice that will define her future--and Would you leave Earth forever?
The beginning leaned a little more YA than I was expecting, but once the story opened up, I found myself getting more invested in where it was going. The concept is really interesting, especially as the world expands beyond Earth.
There were definitely some pacing issues for me, particularly in the middle where things slowed down a bit, but I still wanted to keep reading to see how everything played out.
What I enjoyed most were the characters. Danika’s journey was compelling, and I really appreciated the anxiety representation and it felt genuine and added another layer to her character. I liked seeing her growth as she navigates everything thrown at her, and the relationships added a lot to the story.
Overall, a good start to the series, and I’m curious to see where it goes next.
In Kaileigh's debut Alien Romantasy (the first in the Ex Astris Saga!), we meet Danika, who is a star track athlete - team captain; 'about to get college scholarship offers' good. But, she stinks at history, so she gets a tutor, Gabriel.
Danica's noticed Gabriel, the hot guy, for years, but getting tongue-tied with your history tutor won't get you very far. 😆
While their relationship is warming up, pieces of Gabriel's life come to light. Like a tidal wave, they roll over Danika as she's sucked into his world.
When her world is turned upside down, she has a decision to make. Would you leave Earth forever?
🫶I loved this book! At the beginning, Gabriel's dialogue was....stiff? Old fashioned? Think Edward Cullen from Twilight. So it immediately had me guessing - who (or what) is he?!?
The further I read through the book, more was revealed. 🧐 By the end I desperately wanted to know what happens next!! Book 2 can't come soon enough! 😩
I loved the back and forth between Danica and Gabriel. Their tension and flirting and teasing was so enjoyable to read. 🫠
As the story moved on, I *loved* the turn it took! Absolutely LOVED it. Danica is such a cool FMC. She's smart and athletic, she's brazen, and she has this ability to adapt that allows her to get right into the middle of things even as a newbie. 🤩
If you like Saber of Truth, you're a slow burn Romantasy lover, or you're yearning for more space after watching Project Hail Mary, you may like this book.
OMG what did I just read! This was an absolutely phenomenal book that I have Fallin hard for. This is book 1 in The Ex Astris Saga series. The author most definitely went hard and poured her heart out when she wrote this book. JUST A HEADS UP MY REVIEW MAY HAVE SOME SPOILERS IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO KNOW PLEASE SKIP, THANK YOU FOR READING IF YOU DON'T MIND.
So, to the juicy parts I feel like this book is split into 3 separate parts. which for me help me understand things so much better. Those being How Danika and Gabriel met and the encounters they had to start with. Then the journey they took to Gabriel's planet. I absolutely adored this part the best. All the fun characters and the alien languages and so many more thigs. Then, the last being Danika and Gabriel arriving at his home planet and how they adjust and things of that nature. I really loved this book so much. The way the author created and brought the characters to life. The way she created the worlds and scenes. As, I was reading I felt I could visually see this stuff in my mind. The emotions I felt reading it like I was there watching it all happen. Overall, this was a book I will not forget, it is one that will stick with me, and I will constantly keep checking for the next in the series. This is the first book by this author I have read and I was so very impressed i will most definitely be keeping track of her in the future.
A romance involving aliens that appear like humans and have integrated into our society and a space adventure? Sign me up!
You follow the FMC, who’s spent her life on earth like any other normal human, struggling in high school and just trying to make it into college with a track scholarship. When her history teacher offers to set her up with a tutor to help her grades, it ends up being the elusive and attractive friend of her ex who seems just a little strange. As they get closer because of her studies, they start to fall for each other and stranger and stranger things keep happening. As the truth is revealed in the most devastating way, she must grapple with her feelings for this alien she barely knows while running for the life she’d leave behind if she were to leave the planet to head to his home planet that’s under war because of him.
I really enjoyed the different stages of this book as it switched from normal high school romance, into finding out it’s really aliens she’s becoming close with to literally going to space. There was plenty of chaos and tension that I was worried for the FMC and her feelings with everything going on around her. I love the way that she try’s to handle everything going on around with her and assimilate to this new reality and learn as much as she can while I learned right along with her! I am so excited for whatever comes next for this series and with the cliffhanger at the end, I’m hoping for the next book asap! My rating 4.4/5!
Thanks to the author for the gifted copy, all opinions given are my own!
I’m sorry, is this what it feels like to read something god tier?? Is this the high I’ll be chasing for the rest of my days(until the sequel comes out)? Man, this is in no way where I thought we’d be when I first read the blurb but what a rollercoaster of emotions dude! I’ve laughed out loud at some of the quips and cried real tears along with Dani, I’ve fumed in anger over the Council and their decision making and I’ve giggled and kicked my feet at Gabriel’s yearning. I AM PISSED Goodreads only goes to 5 stars because this is easily a 6. I’ve read some great books this year but already this one takes the cake. I’m calling that for myself now, I’ll look back on my favorite reads of the year and this will still be at the top I have some scorching hot burning questions about the ending and what it means for our mains but also the supporting characters, some of whom are literal light years away. I’m intentionally leaving all of this review vague because it is an absolutely stunning story and I in no way want to spoil any bit of it but holy smokes I want so badly for this story to get the traction it 1000% deserves so I need everyone and they mama to read and fall in love with this book like I did
Stella Nova by Kaileigh Suyama 5 out of 5 stars ARC
Thank you, Kaileigh and IRIS, for this early copy. All parts of this review are of my honest opinion 💚
Stella Nova is Kaileigh's debut Alien Sci-Fi Romantasy novel! This will be the first in a saga and is so worth the read! It starts out with our FMC, Danika, who is a star track athlete who struggles with history (same though). Here Gabriel enters the world as her tutor and our alien MMC. The chemistry between these two is electric from the start. Like it didn't matter that she has intense anxiety or that he spoke like he was out of this world - they genuinely are meant to be.
While I fell in love with the characters, I also fell in love with the writing style and plot. Its uniqueness hooked me in and left me feeling every little thing from the anxiety to the grief to heartbreak to happiness, and even urgency. I don’t think I will ever forget this book and how it made me feel, especially after that cruel cliffhanger 😫
So if you find yourself looking at this book, do pick it up and give it a read. You won't regret it, instead, you will find yourself needing book 2 🥰

My thoughts: I devoured this! I read it in 2 days, I stayed up passed my bedtime to finish. It didn’t feel like I was reading. The vibe Gabe gave me was of Edward from Twilight was emotionally intelligent, emotionally available, and emotionally mature. I had a blast the whole time. Part 2 has a lot of complex world building but everything was explained so well. I can't wait for the rest of the stories and would be honored to ARC read those as well. Thank you @kaileighsuyama for the opportunity to read your work early!
Stella Nova is an engaging alien romantasy that blends character-driven storytelling with immersive worldbuilding.
The story follows Danika, a star track athlete who finds herself needing help academically and chooses Gabriel as her tutor. Their dynamic begins with a quiet, almost hesitant connection, which gradually develops as they spend more time together.
While the beginning of the book may take some time to fully settle into, the story becomes increasingly engaging as it progresses. The shift to Gabriel’s home planet adds a new layer to the narrative, offering a vivid and immersive experience through Danika’s perspective.
The worldbuilding stands out as a strong element, particularly in how the reader is introduced to an unfamiliar setting alongside the FMC.
Overall, this is a fun and immersive read that builds momentum over time and leaves you wanting to continue with the series.
Thank you to Kaileigh Suyama and Iris Influencer Society for allowing me to read this arc.
This book is made of three different parts. The first one focus on how Gabriel and Danika meet each other on Earth, i found this part very cute and nice. The second part focus on the journey to Gabriel's planet, this part was a bit confusing because of all the alien language and the new characters. The third part focus on Danika's arrival to Gabriel's planet and this part has some very nice moments and some confusing ones. I think the plot is well created,it has a lot of alien politics and war aspect to it, Gabriel and Danika are adorable and I love Jane. The reason I didn't give a higher ranking is because the second part was very tedious for me, I had to push through it in order to finish this book. I think that the next book will have a lot of action and therefore I will enjoy it more. Overall it's a good start for a series

I absolutely loved it. NEEDED SOME TIME TO COOL DOWN!!!
This book felt like a quiet magic that slowly pulled me into its world and left me there fully obsessed. I loved all the parts of this book and the concept of dividing it was so good.
The first part deals with Danika and her struggle in maintaining her grades. Gabriel comes like an unwanted surprise helps her improving her grades and they have quite a lot of moments which is cute and keeps you giggling. Then suddenly all the secrets start unraveling and I was genuinely left awestruck.
The second part talks about how they survive the travel in space and tbh this also left me stunned. Loved how Jane managed to smuggle Danika onto the ship. Watching them navigate everything together while their bond deepens made it special.Totally loved reading each and every part.
The third and last part of this book deals with how much Gabriel and Danika have developed their relationship and also more secrets plus family power struggles.
It was so beautiful to see how identity, love and finding your place in universe was dealt adequately and the pacing was good. Even though this was a long book.
Holy cow, y’all! What do I even say about this book other than YOU HAVE TO READ IT NOW?! Stella Nova absolutely hooked me from start to finish. Danika is such an endearing FMC and a beautiful representation of dealing with anxiety, and Gabriel is so attentive (no spoilers but he does this one thing throughout the book that I’m obsessed with). The other characters are amazing and I cannot wait to see where they take us. This story made me laugh, cry, scream, basically all the emotions. It is beautifully written: the plot, the character building, the world building. It’s the whole package.
Kaileigh, you’re a phenomenal author, and I’m reading literally anything you write IMMEDIATELY.
I was so excited to start this but I fear it fell flat for me. I originally thought the FMC was in college based on the blurb but she’s a senior in high school trying to pass history in order to graduate?? I thought she would be years older towards the end in part 3 so I kept reading but it felt weird to me to be reading romance scenes with teenagers. It didn’t get interesting for me until about 20-25% in, when stuff started blowing up, but then the timeline got kinda confusing and I felt like I was expected to know certain words for it to make sense. Thank you to IRIS and the author for the arc.
I went into this expecting a unique romance—but I was not prepared for how deeply it would hit me. And I ate this up!
Danika’s journey felt so real and raw, especially as her world slowly unraveled and reshaped into something far bigger than she ever imagined. Gabriel was equal parts captivating and unsettling, and the tension between them had me completely hooked. The emotional weight of that devastating loss lingered long after, and the impossible choice she faces? Absolutely heartbreaking.
This story pulled me in, broke me, and left me questioning everything…especially what I would choose in her place.
I finished this today and I’m so sad about finishing it. I need more. I need to know what happens once they reach Sola.
This book follows the lives of Gabriel and Danika, two teenagers with almost nothing in common other than going to the same school. We follow their story through to graduation and learn new things along the way - like the fact that Gabriel is leaving to his home planet. So much happens in such a small timeframe… but I have to wonder…
If given the choice, would you leave your planet?
If you like slow burn, high action then this is the book for you!
This was such a great story our FMC Danika is such a likeable character, and the way the author represents the way she is dealing with anxiety is beautiful. She is a typical high schooler struggling in class and when it’s recommended she get a tutor she was not expecting Gabe (the hot loner).
I am left with so many questions, this book had me laughing out loud. Had me screaming and crying and staying up way too late to just get to the next chapter. I’m excited to see what happens next
Thanks to the author for the ARC. The characters kept me reading even when the pacing seemed to drag a little. (I feel like it could have been a shorter book and been even more exciting) But... I'm so glad I did. By the time I finished, I needed more. I have so many questions!!! Kaileigh did an excellent job with her character development. They felt so real to me. Even the side characters. I can't wait for the next one.
Kaileigh Suyama does an incredible job of constructing characters to care about, as well as developing rich lore with a focus on detail. Her writing style balances wit with high stakes, with this installation setting up an expansive universe that's easy to fall in love with. Danika's journey feels believable, even at its most harrowing, and Gabriel feels like so much more than a cookie-cutter MMC.
This was definitely a different genre that I normally don’t read but it was good! I went in blind and was surprised by all the twists and turns. A human falling for a man from a different planet who is set to be a king! If you like a good sci fi, forbidden, adventure, and world building this is for you! Leaves us on a cliffhanger tho! 4 stars!!
This had the perfect blend of sci-fi, fantasy, and romance for me. I enjoyed that Danika felt like a real person and was easy (for me) to relate too. I am very excited to see what happens next in this world!!
Thank you, Kaileigh Suyama for the opportunity to read and review this book!!
Author: Kaileigh Suyoma Rating:⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I was able to finish this book just in time for release day! I have not read a YA romance in forever, so this was a nice change of pace. I really enjoyed the sci-fi aspect of it, if you know me you know I love alien stories!👽 The characters were relatable and fun, and I appreciated the anxiety representation (fellow anxiety girlie here!🙋♀️). I can not wait to read the second one and see what is coming for Danika and Gabe!
