Norman Bridwell was an American author and cartoonist, best-known for the Clifford the Big Red Dog series of children's books. Bridwell attended John Herron School of Art in Indianapolis, Indiana. He lived on Martha's Vineyard, MA, where he wrote an average of two books a year.
i can't think of how to rate this, but my brother wanted me to read this to him, so i did. i made a shelf for "childhood throwbacks" because this, indeed, was a childhood throwback.
I learn the week with Clifford. I know he was sad to lose his mouse. I lost my captain America and can't find him either... I looked everywhere. Clifford found his mouse - Khi 3
Very good book. Teachable moments but no real vocabulary. I used it to teach the same author books as well as beginning and ending sounds to read context clues
Clifford is a classic that every kid should grow up reading. Clifford and Emily Elizabeth are going to Emily's grandma's house and Clifford wants to take his favorite toy with him. He can't seem to find his rubber mouse anywhere so they are going to retrace there steps from the week to see if they can find it. They looked everywhere but could not seem to find Mr. Squeaky. They decide to go to grandma's house anyway and they find his toy when Clifford is sure he will never see it again. I grew up with Clifford so I think they are all wonderful kids books. It's also nice because kids can watch it on TV or go online to do other interactive activities. Clifford teaches kids a lot of great life lessons. I think Clifford is the best for young readers but I don't think you are ever too old for Clifford. The illustrations are all very detailed and go along with the text. They are very colorful and realistic. The text on each page is always just a sentence or two so it is very easy to read. I liked how it had the little calender at the top of the page with a circle around which day they are going back to. I think that makes it easier for kids to remember. I thought it was interesting that the illustrator decided to include pollution in the picture where Clifford is looking underwater. That could bring up a topic of conversation to have with kids. Overall I would highly suggest kids to read any Clifford book.
Fairly standard book in the Clifford series. It depicts Clifford's activities throughout each day of the week, in his search for his toy mouse. Our girls enjoy the books in this series, although I can never get over the eyes on Emily Elizabeth; they just creep me out (although this book wasn't too bad).
This is a Level 1 reader...so it's kind of boring to read out loud to a young reader but the characters make it fun... for a beginning reader it's perfect! Just enough words to help them learn but not get frustrated. Also a good book that you could teach in and out, on, under, the days of the weeks. Also you can use it for emotions as Clifford expresses sadness, aggravation, and happy.
Clifford couldn't find his toy mouse so he didn't want to go to Elizabeth's grandmas house. So they went back to everywhere he went for the whole week to try to find it. At the end he finally went to her grandmas house and she had the mouse, she said he left it there!
A great early reader. My son made it through with no problem words that I can remember which always makes him feel good and want to keep reading, I think.
