This was slightly more modern Laura Ingalls Wilder type story--building a cabin in the wilds of Alaska, battling the long harsh winters. And that's really the end of the comparison. But it was a fascinating story of this man and his wife who battled from nothing to survive in the Alaskan snowy land: they provided medical care, ran a sawmill, taught school, ran a post office, published a paper, worked for a fishing company. Fascinating real-life story.
