About the author

R.M. George

2 books
R. M. George writes dystopian science fiction about what systems make of people - and what people do once they understand the system.

In the Variance series, the catastrophe has already happened, and the world works exactly as its architects intended. Survival is not neutral; understanding how you survived is where the story begins.

Bringing an engineering mindset to fiction, George crafts societies where power doesn't simply collapse - it consumes itself, and the people inside it.

Zero Variance and Dark Variance are available now in Kindle and paperback, with Critical Variance in progress. George is based in Australia. Full series lore, canonical short fiction, and world-building are at worldofvariance.com

"We gather to speak the names, . . . To say them aloud is to remember. And to remember is to keep them alive.

The fascinating story woven in Zero Variance: The future was scripted. It was not meant to be read. (The Variance Book 1) is truly a testament to the fact that its only major flaw is the generated book cover. If you're a lover of narratives that include a mixture of classism, technological evolution, scientific mysteries, survival, interconnected relationships & conflicts and/or fights for power, then this book may be the one for you.
Zero Variance is a tale that contains multitudes - by which I mean, a variety of POVs from various characters with different backgrounds, lifestyles and communities. From the far reaches of the treacherous Wastes, to the innermost pinnacles of the elite Sanctums, and the Colonies in between them both, every chapter and character build upon and weave into each other to present an in-depth universe that is rich with life and conflict.
Reading this invoked a clash of emotions between dread and hope; a state of suspension that truly reflects the ever-churning and unforgiving wheel of reality within the the Variance world.
