Book 1- Wings of Betrayal- starts off with a quick and humorous recap of book one. I love this! More authors need to do this. Book 2 starts with Seth's recovery and Erin's father explaining where he's been. I like that in book 2, we get more POVS- Libby, Josh, and Derrik. Erin's PTSD was very raw and moving. I loved Derrik and Erin "trama" bonding and becoming BFFs. However, some scenes seemed repetitive. Also, the use of hallucinations in this story was frustrating. I understand the reasoning for them in the plot, but I feel they were overused. They became disruptive to the overall story. But the cliffhanger was epic!!
This was one I've been anticipating for years now, and it totally delivered. Had such a good time getting back into this story world, and I feel like it has stepped up from the first book! Not too mention the freaking ending! Seriously... Wtf! The wait for bk 3 begins!
Wings of Betrayal by V. M. Pire picks up right where Wings of Destiny left off, and I loved getting to dive back into Erin’s world! The characters continue to grow through their own individual journeys while the danger, secrets, and betrayals just keep piling up.
One of the biggest surprises is Erin’s dad suddenly coming back into the picture after abandoning her as a child. His return adds another complicated emotional layer to everything Erin is already dealing with, especially as she tries to figure out who she can actually trust.
I really appreciated how Erin’s PTSD is portrayed throughout the story. It’s raw, vulnerable, and at times heartbreaking, showing just how deeply trauma can affect someone long after the event itself. I think having that kind of representation in books is so important because it can help readers feel seen and understood.
We also get multiple POVs from different characters, which kept things interesting and gave me a better understanding of what everyone was experiencing. The hallucinations threw me for a loop occasionally, but once I grasped the flow of the story, they became much easier for my brain to incorporate into everything happening.
And with angels, demons, Nephilim, fallen angels, fated mates, friends-to-lovers tension, secrets, monsters, and betrayal? There is A LOT going on in the best possible way.
But THAT ENDING?!
Holy Hades, that cliffhanger! 😱
Seriously, V. M. Pire… you cannot just leave us there! How long do we have to wait for book three?! Because after that ending, I NEED ANSWERS.
Wings of Betrayal by V. M. Pire picks up right where Wings of Destiny left off, taking us straight back into Erin’s high-stakes world. From the very beginning, the book sets a fantastic tone by starting with a quick and humorous recap of the first book—a touch more authors should definitely adopt! The story opens with Seth’s recovery and a major revelation: Erin’s father returns after having abandoned her as a child. His sudden reappearance adds a deeply complicated emotional layer as Erin tries to figure out who she can truly trust amidst the mounting dangers, secrets, and betrayals. Wings of Betrayal delivers an emotional, action-packed ride—and THAT ENDING! The cliffhanger at the end is brutal and epic, leaving you desperate to know what happens next. V. M. Pire cannot leave us hanging like this for long; book three cannot come soon enough!
I received an Advanced Reader Copy of this book. This is book 2 of the Erin Snow series. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️First of all, HOLY CRAP to the cliffhanger and the twists in this second installment! I didn't expect any of it. We follow Erin, Seth, Derick, Libby and Josh as they search for more information on the Key and what that means for Erin. They continue to face demons at every turn, unravel family secrets, and Erin continues to learn more about herself and her powers. Deception, betrayal, love, and heartbreak all wrapped into this amazing book. I am devastated I have to wait for the next one!
Truly hooked on this storyline. There is so much you learn in this book and then again so much you don’t…surprises at every turn. I don’t know whose pov to believe or who to trust, I could not put it down. Erin’s PTSD is very raw and relatable, I just want her to be happy! My only knock is that there are some very repetitive situations and in my opinion it doesn’t add too much to the story. Love the continuation of the dark gritty vibes/ mixed with the smartass commentary.
I’m happy to be a part of the ARC team and this review was given freely.
Following Erin’s journey in book two was a freaking roller coaster in the best way possible. So many little details from book one came into play and has been reeling for the next book!
