THE FATHER BLACK Series:
KILL LIST, #4 - Oh my goodness, this book is a roller-coaster ride full of action, humor, a few dead bodies, and immersing story lines along with great characters. I have so much fun with this series and I cannot wait for the audiobook. Source: The Author. 5*
MISSION BLACK, Audiobook and eBook - Absolutely one of the best books I have read recently in any genre. I was completely mesmerized by the intriguing, intense story lines, the three, actually, four awesome characters if you consider the "Organization" a character, and the continuous pace. Of course, vigilantism is a favorite theme for me, and having a Catholic priest as a reluctant vigilante makes an interesting formula. Added to the mix, plenty of good humor and two female characters worth their weight in gold. The other characters were a good variety of types. Of course, the darkness of Black's dilemma weighs on him and he works with God to solve his troubles. There was a bit of British English here and there that brought out a giggle or two. Minimal cursing. The narrator Holt Shepherd is perfect for this book. He does a great job with reading, the characters, and their emotions. Source: My Kindle and Audible libraries. 5*
GOING DARK, #2 - This story picks up a week after Mission Black ends. It is steady nonstop action, with intense story lines and great characters. Interesting, intriguing, immersing entertainment that makes you frown when the last page is read, you want more. Source: The author. 5*
TAKE DOWN, #3 - Each book gets better and this one ends with the possibility of another book to this trilogy. Picking up where Going Dark ends, the well written, entertaining story lines filled with action, humor and surprises make it hard to put the book down. The characters and the constant pace add to this intriguing closure. Source: The Author. 15*

OLD FARTS CLUB Series:
EXODUS: The Old Farts Club, #1 - I had the pleasure of reading this in paperback. The characters range in personalities, skills and opinions, but they are one unit, one team, brothers; even the British dude. Realistic, no Rambos here, just men doing the right thing. The story lines are interesting and immersing making the book hard to put down. The support characters are good and even their own bits added more depth. Of course, a bit of British cuisine made its appearance, which I found funny since the names of these dishes, and some ingredients, can repel the American palate. There are a couple of unexpected happenings that surprised me, usually I know what to expect; read as much as I do, and have, and there are rare surprises. 5*
DARK TARGET, #2 - I laughed myself silly at the two different ops that were in progress simultaneously, each without knowledge of the other. Of course, there was plenty of action along with the humor, and some slapstick dialog between members of the least experienced team. There was some interesting technology used. While he does not write about the law, I place Mr. Williams on par with John Grisham. 5*

A GUY WALKS INTO A BAR, Audiobook and eBook - I enjoy reading books by this talented author. I tried to finish this book in one sitting but, alas, 0300 hours knocked me out. Funny. Interesting. Intriguing. Well written with well thought out story lines and a group of characters that are characters. All the good guys were likeable and easy to root for and the baddies were easy to hate, and admire their professionalism. I enjoyed finding out about the different types of drones and sure could use one of the loaded for bear ones in my backyard. Entertaining and realistic. The narrator Ronald Bruce Meyer does an excellent job reading, his characters, and their emotions. Source: The author and my Audible library. 5*
A GIRL WALKS INTO A BAR - What is better than having one Mick Williams book to read? Having two to read back-to-back. This book takes place two years after A Guy ends. Plenty of action scenes with a good cast of characters. Well written with good humor and realistic dialogue and action scenes. I have enjoyed all the books I've read by this talented writer. 5*

Recently, I had the opportunity to read the latest book by Military Thriller Book Group's very own Mick Williams. This is the fourth book in the Father Black series by this author and is due to be released on 28 February 2026.
For those that have missed out of this excellent little series, Father Connor Black is a former US Marine whose backstory is defined by a mission in Kirkuk, Iraq, that went catastrophically wrong.
Key elements of his backstory include:
The Iraqi Mistake: While serving as a Marine, Black was involved in an assignment where a member of a Royal Family was killed. This incident threatened to plunge the United States into a new war.
The Secret Cover-Up: A mysterious shadow organization known as the Honos Group covered up the death to prevent international conflict. In exchange, Connor Black incurred a "debt" he would eventually have to repay.
Atonement and Priesthood: Haunted by his actions and seeking to atone for his "sins," Black left the military and took holy vows to become a priest.
The Debt Called In: Ten years later, the Honos Group resurfaces to collect on his debt, blackmailing him into using his old combat skills for missions that conflict with his religious vows, such as assassinating a psychotic drug lord.
In the latest book, after the apparent dissolution of Honos (sorry Mick, I missed out on the second and third books.....my bad), Father Black and his compatriots, Lyndsay and Emmy, discover that a computer hacker has discovered the location of a former-Honos safe house (whomever possesses this information has the potential to become rich and powerful beyond their dreams).
When the video feeds from all the safe houses are accessed, one of the feeds show that Father Black and Emmy as being the last ones to enter a safe house, this results in them finding themselves on a kill list.
An attempt is made to send four former Honos operatives, each an elite and ruthless killer in their own right, to eliminate the names on this list.
The hacker manages to locate the list of hit men used by the Honos group, this list includes names, addresses, and pictures and Father Black appears on this list.
Along with Lyndsey, the three will not only have to will fight for their lives but also fight to save their church.

As previously mentioned this book is action packed from the first chapter, the story moves at a good pace, the hit squad are as interesting as they are deadly and the characters that you have grown to love from books one through three continue to provide humour, flirty dialogue, and lots of tense, scary moments.
Father Black continues to have hope, faith and conscience as he does what needs to be done to keep others safe, Emmy and Lyndsey are strong, fearless women who kick butt, even in heels.
This is one of those books that I feel would be worthy of five stars and is bound to become a favourite of action aficionados.
As with all my literary ramblings, this is just my five cents' worth.

I was lucky enough to read an early copy of Kill List, and I couldn’t wait to dive in as this is such a brilliant series!
If you haven’t met Father Black yet, then you really are missing out!
In Kill List not only does Father Black find his life and the life of his treasurer are in danger once again, but also his actual church building is at risk.
Father Black knows too much so there are some who are keen to find him and eliminate his threat. He needs to be one step ahead. This is where Emmy comes in. I love how she is with Father Black. She cracks me up, but I certainly wouldn’t like to cross her!
This book starts exactly how it intends to go on. Action from the very first page and it rarely lets up throughout.
As with the previous books in this series Kill List is full of intrigue, brilliant characters who we get to know that bit more with each book and whose banter is highly entertaining, a tense plotline which kept me engrossed, and fabulously choreographed fight scenes. I know I’ve said it before, but this series would make a brilliant TV series. I love it! I find myself increasingly invested in these characters with each addition to the series. They make an excellent team, and I look forward to what they get up to next.
The ending is genius and leaves the story open to continue nicely in book five. I can’t wait!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book! Father Black, Lyndsey, and Emmy are working together again after the wrong people stumbled onto a Honos safehouse. If the information contained in the house is cracked, the international consequences would be devastating. While Lyndsey works her magic staying one step ahead of an accomplished hacker, Father Black and Emmy race to track down the intruders. This book picks up speed as you go along, and is impossible to put down, as I found out. Emmy can be very persuasive when she wants to tell her story. She and Father Black kept me up well past midnight to finish the book.

He does it again.
I haven't read a bad Mick Willams book yet. Each one thoroughly enjoyable, full of great characters, tense as a bow-string and just as eye-catching (sorry, in-joke there...read the book and you'll get it). Nice touches of humour, too.

If you want an all-action book, then this is absolutely perfect. Fast-paced and full of Mick Williams' dark humour.
Father Black is called up to action again in some stunning scenes. I loved the bike chase!
I really love this author, and this latest one in the Father Black series is fantastic.
