When Ian’s parents dropped him and his two older sisters off for the summer with their eccentric aunt and uncle in Florida, he knew this was going to be his best summer ever. After all, how many kids get to spend the summer miles from civilization and with an uncle who has a hook for a hand?

Even after being told they were in some sort of a crypto-zoological vortex where hornless unicorns and goblins are considered normal, Ian wanders off into the woods after a fight with one of his sisters. Lost, sweaty, and shoeless Ian comes face-to-face with another legend: the Florida Skunk Ape.

Will Ian find his way back or will the swamp become his new home?

Within Emerald Forests is book one of a crypto-zoology series, and it's a great start. Heather Hamel does an excellent job of drawing you into the story from the very first page. Her descriptions are great, her characters are likable, and her storytelling is magnificent. You'll find yourself lost in the story as you picture yourself in this world Heather's created. I look forward to reading the rest of the books in this series as well as other books from this author.

I absolutely loved this book! The author, Heather Hamel, has created a fantastic book for young people. When Ian and his sisters are left with an unfamiliar aunt and uncle, they have no idea what types of adventures await them. This book is full of magic, mystery and suspense. It captivated me and I couldn't put it down. This is a fabulous book for young people that will really inspire them to invest more time in reading which will help them in all aspects of their schooling. It will show the reader what a magical journey you can take while reading a book! This is the first book in the Cryptozoology series. I look forward to additional books in this series! I highly recommend this book and future books in this series to all young people, especially those who don't enjoy reading. It could turn their life around.

I absolutely adored this book! This book brought me right back to my childhood when I would read such a good book that I felt could imagine that I was physically there with the characters. That element of a book is so rare! Please don't hesitate to buy this book. Anyone that enjoys a fascinating take on getting lost in a forest with all kind of enchanting creatures will love this book. I guarantee any tween that reads this book would think that. Any child would enjoy this book as because it is so descriptive and they could let their imagination run wild. Any adult would love this book, but let me warn you, prepare yourself to be whisked away to a world that you wish was real. "Within Emerald Forests" is an insanely quick read because of how nicely everything flows together. I honestly can't say enough praise for this book in it's entirety.

I loved this book! I bought it for my nieces, ages 8 and 11, and read the book before I sent it to them. The author is so creative. She pulls you into the magical world she has created and makes you want to stay. I will be buying all four in the series. Great for kids!

OK, here is the thing. its not very good... BUT its also not the whole story. there are four books, but they are actually four parts of ONE story. soooo I likely will read at least one more, maybe all four, just to finish the darn story .....
