Behn Wilson is a former professional hockey player. Drafted sixth overall in the first round, Behn played with the Philadelphia Flyers for five years. He was later traded to the Chicago Blackhawks, with whom he played for an additional five years. During the 1979 NHL season, Behn competed in the Stanley Cup Finals with the Flyers and, in 1980, participated in the NHL All-Star Game. A native of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, Behn retired in 1988 and enjoys traveling the world with his wife, Rita. They live in Wyoming and Florida, enjoying time with their children and grandchildren.
What a fun read. It suprised me how entertaining this book was. I usually find nonfiction a bit slow, but burned through this in a day. It basically leaves out all the dull parts of a typical pro athlete book and just gives the people what they want--a bunch of short, funny, and engaging stories about players you know and fights you'll probably remember if you watched hockey back then.
This was actually really funny and entertaining. It has a ton of short stories. There are some good ones about his fights and other interactions with other NHL players.
This isn’t just a history of a storied career — it’s the story of a life given over entirely to hockey, and the choices that shaped it. Behn Wilson was a force of nature, playing at the highest level of the NHL for a decade. Written by the man who lived it, this is a vivid, honest and fun account from someone who was always at the center of the action. If you love the game, you’ll love this book.
