The last woman he wanted becomes the only one he needs.
A wounded warrior. A forge-maiden. A love strong enough to remake them both. Greig Maclean fought for Scottish freedom and returned home with wounds that nearly claimed his life. He survived—but now he is badly lamed, and bitterness eats at him. As the clan-chief’s firstborn son, he should stand tall. Instead, anger is all that remains.
Then his younger brother is killed in a clan skirmish … leaving behind a note that will change Greig’s life forever.
A list of things Alistair Maclean dreamed of doing before his time ran out.
He never got the chance. Now Greig must do them in his stead.
And one item stands above the win the forge-maiden’s heart.
Brighde never meant to inherit a blacksmith’s life. But her father is blind, her brother too young to take the hammer, and the forge is all that keeps her family fed. Nicknamed ‘the forge-maiden’, she is respected for her skill—and quietly scorned for not conforming.
Greig cannot imagine a fate worse than wooing such a woman. Yet love for his dead brother drives him forward.
But steel reveals its strength only in fire … and Brighde is nothing like he expects.
As resentment gives way to reluctant admiration, and admiration to something far more volatile, a fragile bond forms between them.
As clan tensions explode and enemies close in, Greig must decide what matters the legacy he was born to uphold … or the woman who has helped him emerge from the darkness.
Because winning Brighde’s heart may be the one battle he cannot afford to lose.
Full of suspense, emotion, and delicious spice, SONS OF MULL is a spin-off series from ROGUES OF MULL and HIGHLAND SCANDAL. The trilogy follows three warriors—Craeg, Ailean, and Greig—and the fierce women who make them question everything they thought they knew about duty, honor, and love.
Multi-award-winning author Jayne Castel writes epic Historical and Fantasy Romance. Her vibrant characters, richly researched historical settings and action-packed adventure romance transport readers to forgotten times and imaginary worlds.
Jayne is the author of a number of best-selling series. In love with all things Scottish, she writes romances set in both Dark Ages and Medieval Scotland.
When she's not writing, Jayne is reading (and re-reading) her favorite authors, cooking Italian feasts, and going on long walks with her husband. She's from New Zealand, but now lives in Edinburgh, Scotland.
This book confirms once again why Jayne Castel is my favorite author of Scottish medieval romance novels. Yet again, she perfectly weaves together a bittersweet story with endearing protagonists, emotional depth, vivid imagery, historical and geographical tidbits, drama, action, danger, violence, and a dash of spice that hooked me, brought tears to my eyes, and made me smile. You can tell that the author loves the landscape and has done her research very well. This time, the story centers on Creig Maclean, who has become bitter and grumpy since his serious leg injury and has lost his self-esteem. Brìghde is a strong, talented and caring heroine who, while proud of her work, still suffers from the taunts of the villagers due to her appearance. Their romance develops slowly but is all the sweeter for it, as their initial hostility transforms into friendship and then love. I loved how Brìghde challenged, supported, and stood by Creig, and how, with her help, Creig regained his courage to face life and a sense of purpose. The emotions, inner conflicts, and growing chemistry between them were palpable from the very beginning.
Before his grievous injury in the battle against the English a year ago, Creig—the firstborn son of the clan chief of the Macleans of Duart—was destined to one day rule over the clan and this side of the isle of Mull, but now, as a cripple, he feels useless. Lost in bitterness and self-pity, he withdraws from everyone. When his younger brother Alistair tells him about the list of challenges he’s set for himself and asks him to complete them on his behalf in case he dies, Creig agrees, unaware that Alistair will soon indeed lose his life during a raid by the MacDonalds. Despite his pain and disability, Creig is determined to fulfill his brother’s wish and embark on the adventures- with the exception of winning the heart of the Forge Maiden, Brìghde Boyd, with whom his brother was secretly in love. As her father gradually lost his sight in recent years, Brìghde took over her father’s smithy to support her family. Because of her height and muscular build, she is often mocked and ignored. Brìghde finds Creig Maclean dismissive and arrogant, even though she feels sympathy for him. However, when he tells her about the challenges he must overcome for Alistair, she agrees to train with him and support him. Slowly, they become friends, and Creig begins to admire the kind, practical, hard-working woman for her strength and wisdom. Bridget, too, feels increasingly drawn to Creig, but she knows it can never work out. She isn’t pretty enough, and the heir to the clan can’t marry a simple female blacksmith…
If you enjoy gripping Scottish medieval romance novels, wounded heroes, strong heroines, emotional roller coasters, great character development, drama, action, and steam, then this book is just right for you.
I received a free ARC of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own and left voluntarily.
This concluding book in the Sons of Mull series did not disappoint. I have loved this series following the next generation of the Mull families from both the Highland Scandal and the Rogues of Mull series. Greig MacLean is the firstborn son of Loch MacLean of Duart Castle and expected to rule upon his father's death. However, his service in the war against the English left him with a maimed leg and a bitter attitude. His family tries to reach him but he is withdrawn and moody, as we see in the earlier books in the series. My heart really went out to him as he watched his two best friends found true love in their own books, leaving him knowing no woman would look twice at his disfiguring injury and crippled leg.
Brìghde Boyd is running her father's forge in the village since he lost his sight. Her younger brother Eòghan will inherit the business when he comes of age, but for now she is all that is keeping her family fed. A gifted metalworker, she is nonetheless looked down upon by the villagers as a woman trying to do a man's job. She feels that no man will ever look past her large sturdy body and plain looks and her leather apron and soot to see her as a woman worth pursuing. The one notable exception is her childhood friend who is determined to woo her, even though she has no interest in him.
When Greig's brother Alistair shows him the list he made of challenges he wishes to conquer in his lifetime, he extracts a promise from Greig that he will complete if for him if he dies. The last and most incomprehensible item is to win the forge maiden's heart. Greig cannot fathom why his brother is enamoured of Brìghde but agrees, thinking it will never come to pass. However, his brother is killed defending the castle from attackers, and Greig feels honor bound to finish the list, even though he is crippled.
From this start, the story really takes off. After rescuing Brìghde from an attacker, he mentions the list, omitting the last item. She sees the value in it and is touched by him wishing to honor his brother, so she volunteers to train him to climb Ben More, the largest mountain on the island. I loved the interplay between the characters, with Brìghde being quick to call him out when he is being an arse. Their love story grows quietly and sweetly as Greig begins to overcome his injury and the crippling depression that has plagued him.
There are so many obstacles to overcome to get these two to a HEA, and Jayne Castel, as always, had me laughing and crying as they each grew up a little, gained confidence, and decided what was worth fighting for. I absolutely loved how the ending played out and how perfectly these two unlikely main characters fit together perfectly by the end. I can't wait for the next series, which has a small set up in this book with three of the girls in the allied families. I just hated to see this book and the series end!!!
I read an advance copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Greig Maclean was severely wounded as he fought for Scotland's freedom. The wounds were so bad they nearly took his life, but somehow he survived, but he's not the happy young man he was before being wounded. He thinks of himself as a cripple, and bitterness eats at his heart day by day. As the clan chief's first born son he should stand tall and not have to use a walking stick to do it.
Then his younger brother is killed during a clan skirmish, leaving behind a note, that will change Greig's life forever. It's a list of things (a kind of bucket list if you will) that his brother (Alistair Maclean) dreamed of doing before he was so cruelly taken before his time. Since Alistair couldn't fulfill his bucket list he wants Greig to do it in his stead. But there is one item that jumps out at him and that is to win the forge maiden's heart. Something he doesn't think he can do.
Brighde Boyd never wanted to inherit a blacksmith's life. But it was inevitable since her father went blind, and her brother was too young to take up the hammer. Now the forge is all that keeps her family fed. She had earned the nickname 'the forge maiden', and she is well respected for her skill. Yet she is still scorned for it as well.
Greig can't imagine a fate worse than wooing Brighde, but since it was his brother's dying wish he gives it a go. But as time goes on he finds out the Bri is not what he expected at all, and a fragile bond starts to ramp up between them.
As clan tensions flare up and enemies close in Greg must decide what matters most the legacy he was born to uphold? Or the woman who has helped him out of the darkness he was adrift in?
Wow! What a fabulous story. Jayne Castel has outdone herself with this book. I ran the gauntlet of emotions while reading this book. These two characters were some of the best I have ever read about. Greig has been through so much. First almost dying, then his brother dies in a clan battle. Bri was one tough cookie. This lady could make you a sword then turn around and make you the most feminine piece of jewelry. She never wanted to be a blacksmith, but she really had no choice in the matter. Their love story was like watching a beautiful ballet. I was rooting for them the whole time. I can't say more or I will spoil the book, but I can say this: If you enjoy books with brawny Scottish warriors, and their amazing women, then you need to read this book because it will not disappoint. All in all this was an incredible read and worth way more than the 5 stars I'm allowed to give it.
Steel & Surrender, the latest book in Jayne Castel’s Sons of Mull series, delivers a deeply emotional, masterfully paced historical romance that flawlessly concludes her medieval trilogy. This third installment centers on Greig Maclean, a bitter, lamed warrior, and a fiercely independent forge-maiden. Castel succeeds in blending raw angst, a poignant redemption arc, and a highly satisfying forced-proximity dynamic. The heart of this novel lies in its beautifully damaged protagonists. Greig returns from the wars for Scottish freedom bearing physical and emotional scars that have left him deeply cynical. Castel avoids a quick fix for his trauma, making his evolution feel earned. The heroine—a strong-willed blacksmith—serves as the perfect foil, challenging his bitterness with her quiet strength. Their initial reluctant attraction burns with a sharp, slow-building intensity that satisfies long-time romance . The tight, domestic confines of the forge and castle ground the explosive emotional stakes. The physical and emotional rebuilding of a broken hero avoids clichéd tropes. The romantic progression matches the intense, high-stakes medieval setting. The windswept backdrop of the Isle of Mull acts as its own entity in the story. Castel leverages her signature meticulous historical research to bring medieval Scotland vividly to life. From the heat of the iron forge to the cold northern coastal winds, the sensory details completely immerse the reader. Steel & Surrender is a stellar conclusion for fans following the broader Rogues of Mull universe. It balances genuine heartbreak with triumphant healing, cementing Jayne Castel as a must-read voice in medieval Scottish romance.
Outstanding! Loved this story This is book 3 of the Sons of Mull series and one I was anxiously awaiting. Greig was the injured friend mentioned in the last two stories and the one I was most wanting to read about. His journey through life has been tough, due to the horrible injury he sustained fighting in the war. Lucky to be alive but seeing himself as lame he is frequently in pain, has turned sour and very grumpy, not able to rise above what has happened. Until a tragedy befalls the family and he fulfils a promise, setting him on a path he never expected and into the vicinity of Brighde the forge-maiden. Their interactions are at first stilted and gruff but the more time they spend together has them becoming friends of sorts, then much more. This is a slow burn, at times steamy story which beautifully showed both characters slowly opening up to each other. Greig was learning to overcome his grief, conquer his fears and work on healing his body so that he could push it to its limits, to achieve everything on the list he needs to work through. Brighde knows that she is not at all what a woman should be like as she works in a man’s world and that no good man could possibly be attracted to her. However she knows her station in life and the feelings she is having for Greig can’t be reciprocated, no matter how much she wants to be with him. I loved their journey to happiness, not all was smooth sailing but it was so worth reading. My eyes misted up a few times whilst reading this but mostly I was smiling away, happy with how their journey evolved. I loved every minute of this fantastic story and its loveable characters. Thank you Jayne Castel and BookSirens for the opportunity to read this gorgeous story.
Steel and Surrender by Jayne Castel is the third book in the Sons of Mull Series.
Greig Maclean is a bitter and broken man suffering and not accepting his physical damages and limitations from a war. He is totally engulfed in self pity when his brother, Alistair, shares his wish list and gets a promise from Greig that he will complete the list if he dies. The last item on the list, “Win the Forge Maiden’s heart” is something Grieg hopes he will never have to do. After a brutal assault from the enemy, Alistair dies. Grieg must accept his brother’s challenge or consider the possibility that he is a coward and continue the path of self destruction.
Brighde Boyd is the forge maiden who runs her father’s forge and is considered to be mannish. She is a strong intelligent woman who works hard providing for the family since her father became blind. She has many layers that are gradually revealed through an incredibly well written story.
Theirs is a relationship that slowly develops with so many ups and downs. She helps Grieg with common sense suggestions and support. I loved reading about this unusual woman and this broken, grieving man. Together he finds his strength and purpose. She reveals her integrity and her ability to support a man who wants to conquer his disabilities and make his brother proud.
Jayne Castel has once again proven she is a great writer.

⚔️ There's something so satisfying about a historical romance that blends adventure, emotion, and unforgettable characters, and Steel & Surrender delivered exactly that.
From the very first chapter, I was drawn into Jayne Castel's richly crafted world. The historical setting felt vivid and immersive, and I loved watching the story unfold through moments of courage, loyalty, and growing trust. Every chapter kept me eager to see what would happen next. 📖✨
One of my favorite parts of the book was the relationship between the main characters. 💕 Their connection developed naturally, and I appreciated how their individual strengths and vulnerabilities shaped their journey together. The emotional moments felt heartfelt, while the tension and romance kept me completely invested.
The pacing was engaging throughout, and the balance between action, history, and romance made for a thoroughly enjoyable read. While there were a few scenes where I would have loved a little more time to explore the emotions or historical details, it never took away from my enjoyment of the story as a whole.
By the final page, I was left smiling and wishing I could spend just a little longer with these characters. 🥹
💌 A huge thank you to Jayne Castel for the opportunity to read an advance copy of Steel & Surrender. I'm so grateful to have been trusted with an ARC and to experience this story before its release. As always, these thoughts and opinions are entirely my own. 🤍
Gripping Story That Ends a Terrific Series This story is the final book of the series, and it captured my heart completely and took me through an emotional roller coaster ride of two wonderful characters that made this story an outstanding deeply moving love story. Greig has been wounded and is quite bitter about life in general.. He has a list of accomplishments he promised to complete that his deceased brother left him, and he is bound to finish that list no matter how difficult it seems to be. One of the challenges on that list brings him in contact with Brighde the blacksmith. A very stalwart lass who tries hard not to like Greig. After Greg gets off of his pity pot attitude Brighde decides to help him with some of his goals Their coming together made this quite an emotional story of two intriguing people coming together and discovering they have a very deep connection that turns this tory into a passionate love that eventually leads to a very happy ending. Mature Advisory:3/5
This book far exceeded my expectations and has left a lasting impression. I have read all of Jayne Castel's "Medieval Scotland " books and have enjoyed every one of them. I, by far, consider "Steel & Surrender " one of her best of that series.
I knew this book was going to be hard to read for a couple of reasons. Greig had been dealt a lousy hand when he had been wounded fighting for Scotland in the war. The wounds left him physically scared, which was hard enough to deal with, but also left him emotionally and mentally scared. You could feel the bitterness rolling off of him. The second reason was I knew the death of his brother would be a tear jerker from the perspective of his parents, Loch and Mairi, who had been through their own battles.
Brighe had her own baggage that she carried but became exactly who Greig didn't know he needed. Brighe was a large/tall built woman, not a fat woman, but definitely not average size. Not what most of society has ever considered a beautiful woman. She also has had to take on a physically demanding man's job because of life situations. She deep down wants what a lot of women want, respect, love, marriage, and children. She is not sure those will ever happen for her.
Jayne has woven a beautiful love story that hits you hard a few times. It was nice to see again a few old favorites from previous books and meet a few new friends in this story. I can not recommend this book and this author enough. I have downloaded six of her "Dark Ages Scotland " book series to start reading while we wait for her next book in this series in January. I can't wait to read about Arabella!
This book was hard to put down. I was excited to read this book. This book was a great addition to the series. My only disappointment was that it ended. Even though the reason behind it was sad, I was relieved that Greig finally had a reason to start living again. He has been such a stubborn arse and refused to heal, both physically and emotionally. I love when the heroine is unusal. Brìghde was definitely unique. I loved her outlook and how much she helped Greig, despite not liking his rudeness. I hated she thought herself less because of her manly profession. Together they made a beautiful couple. Each showed the other what they felt as a flaw was a strength. This book, like all of Jayne Castel's was absolutely amazing. I was glad to see she has more books coming. She is an extremely talented author that has quickly moved to my must read list.

We have a rollercoaster emotional journey between two very stubborn individuals! Greig is the Chieftan’s first born son who was wounded and almost lost his left leg! Stubborn and bitter he remembers a list from his younger brother Alistair. He is resolved to complete every task but the one involving winning Brighde Boyd’s heart. She is a Forge Maiden she very good and very strong, constantly made fun of for not being feminine but her family has to eat! Brighde assists Greig one day and offers to help him get stronger to climb Ben Mull. They form a friendship of sorts each challenging the other! But a Lairds son and a commoner this should be impossible! Greig has put his foot down far in his mouth but Davy suggests a grand gesture to atone for his mistakes. But can two very stubborn people realize that forever is right here on front of them if they dare! I read the ending twice! Get a tissue ready! Bravo I received an ARC copy for my unbiased opinion from Booksprout!
The main characters (Brighde & Greig) are strong yet passionate people. They have doubts & fears (mostly justified by the way their lives have gone) but are both strengthened by growing love & respect.
As in the previous books, the humour - especially some of the snarky responses - is good throughout however I found that this book, in particular, had a number of deeper, emotional moments:
"He'd waited too long. Like all young men, he'd secretly believed death was something that happened to someone else."
There is some truly beautiful writing - especially a vow made late in the book - and it really touched me at times.
Although I'd recommend reading the previous books (this is the completion of a trilogy), this one is a "must-read".
(I was fortunate to receive an ARC however the above is, as ever, my own opinion.)
I so lucky to have been able to sign up to get this ARC from Book Sirens after seeing Jayne Castel’s social media post about releasing this early!
I was hooked from the first chapter! I loved the whole character arc for both Brighde and Greig. The loss of Alistair really took its toll on Greig and took him to a dark place, so I’m glad Alistair had his unfinished list for him to focus on as it eventually gave him a sense of purpose and with Brighde’s help, he realised he was worthy of living and deserved true love and happiness.
I loved both of these characters and their families, the story was engaging and very well rounded.
There was just enough spice in here sprinkled throughout but it was never overwhelming and didn’t overpower the love story or the rest of the plot!
I can’t wait for you all to be able to read this on release day!
This is book three in this 3 book in the series. Although mentioning events and characters from previous books this can be read and enjoyed without having read the previous books. Although the previous books are also excellent.
Greig Maclean is the clan chief’s son. He was badly injured by an English sword. He is now lamed and bitter.
Brighde Boyd became a blacksmith when her father became blind. She is known as The Forge Maiden
Wow what an emotional journey. This book held be captive from the first page. Had trouble putting it down. The plot, the characters and the descriptions are all excellent. This is a slow burn love story together with action, suspense and lessons to learn.
I received a free copy of this book and freely and honestly leave my review.
This is book three in the series and is a fantastic read. It hooks you from he start and is very hard to put down till done.. This story follows Greig Maclean and Brighde Boyd. Both are very strong and a bit stubborn and have faced distractions that has made big changes in their lives. There is no love lost between them but they end up coming together and both not only realize more things about themselves but also of each other. The story has the great humour, clan clashes , family love and challenges but it has a lot more deeper emotional moments that hold a much deeper meaning. I really enjoyed this book and highly recommend it.

I absolutely loved this book! Brighde is such a novel FMC in her work as a blacksmith and that really shapes her into such a strong character, bith inside and out. Greig is hurt and jaded by his past, and desperately needs someone who can see through that hard exterior to the sensitive soul underneath. I loved seeing them challenge each other- this definitely wasn't an easy love story and they had to work hard to make it work. I think they truly learned to love each other for who they really are, and it showed in such an endearing story and a perfect ending to this trilogy. I can't wait to continue on to the next series!.

Well written, full of drama, emotions, chemistry, danger, adventure, spice, friendship, family, love, PTSD, history, and twists. Grieg is a warrior who lost a lot of himself in a battle. Brighde is a woman who has had a very hard time. She has to take on the blacksmith work for her father as her brother is too young to do the job. Greig's brother tells him of a list he has that he wants to do before he dies. Yet the worst happens Alistair dies in a battle to protect the castle. Greig and Brighde meet up and after talking, they forge a friendship. They agree to work on the list and their love grows. Great way to end this series. Would strongly recommend this book and the rest of the series.
I received this story and leave this unbiased, honest review.
There was a time when I only read historical romance and primarily Scottish stories. Reading Castel's stories is like coming home. The language, the wilds of the land and the Scottish traditions. I've always loved the beauty of her book covers, they're unique in a time when so many are repeats of each other. Greig and Brighde don't really like each other but a growing respect ensures that over the course of time, they both end up with feelings that aren't convenient. He's the first son of the clan leader and she's a blacksmith to support her family, well below his station. Solidly written and full of enough excitement that I didn't want to put it down. 4 to 4.5 stars.
This may be the best of the series. I have been anticipating this book to see how Ms. Castel brought this wounded warrior to a happy end, and she did well indeed! I am partial to slow burn romance and wise, thoughtful women. This story has both as well as an insightful and moving portrayal of a wounded soldier fighting and finding his way back from injury, disappointment and despair. it is emotional, wrenching, and ultimately, uplifting. I would certainly recommend reading the previous books in the series for context and character depth, but it is a bang-up book on its own! I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
A tale of personal growth. I loved this story: Brighde is a strong woman with image issues, and feels no man will want her, and Greig is angry at the world after a life changing injury. An unlikely pair for sure. The story flows well and their relationship travels as a realistic pace. There is trouble brewing throughout that keeps intrigue building. I absolutely loved this story and the series so far, and can easily, highly recommend this book. I voluntarily received and reviewed an ARC copy of the book.
An emotional journey for a man who must discover who he after a life-altering injury and a woman who becomes his rock. Two unlikely souls; both with lessons to learn in a world that tries to define each of them in ways neither wants. A beautiful story of what one can be with the right motivations. Thank you for such an inspiring love story.

Jayne Castel has become one of my favorite, go-to authors, and Steel & Surrender did not disappoint. Brighde and Greig were amazing. I love that they both had issues to work through, and this book felt very emotional to me. The spice wasn’t quite as spicy in this book, but the story itself more than made up for that. I can’t wait to read the spinoff trilogy!
I received a copy of Steel & Surrender from BookSirens and I am voluntarily sharing this review.
This was a powerful story about grief and learning to continue on. Greig and Brighde seemed to be made for each other. I found it fascinating that Brighde was a blacksmith as it's an unusual skill and occupation for a female in any historical age, but it works. Steel & Surrender is a fantastic read and if you love romantic love stories that surprise everyone, this is one for you.

This is the final instalment of the Sons of Mull trilogy, and it is definitely my favourite of the 3 books. Greig Maclean is suffering not only from a physical disability but an emotional one as well. Fortunately, he takes up his late brother's list of challenges which leads him to Brighde, the forge-maiden who has obstacles of her own to overcome. This was a well-written, moving story with characters that you can't help but cheer for.
Steel & Surrender (Sons of Mull Book 3), my tenth Scottish Highlanders Historical Romance from author Jayne Castel and the concluding book of the Sons of Mull trilogy. With more than 80 books published and my wife as a fan, I look forward to reading more from this author. “I received a complimentary Kindle copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review." The gifting of this book did not affect my opinion of it. (RIP Marley, January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).
This was an extraordinary lovely story featuring a broken bitter man and a strong resilient woman. Greig and Brighde’s initial reluctance soon turns a slowburn journey to love.I loved watching them find what they really needed in each other becoming strong together. As always, the writing is superb and kept me engaged to the end with emotion, plot and heart. Look forward to where Jayne takes me next.

I so loved this book. Loved all the emotions flowing through the pages. The interactions between Greig and Brighde are riveting you won’t be able to put this book down. I loved everything they accomplished, it’s so amazing how they met the challenges and obstacles. The riveting scenes and unique details will not let you stop turning the pages, these characters will stay with you long after the end.
I love reading Jayne's books, it's almost like being there, back in time on the Isle of Mull. I liked Greig's character progression throughout the book, his stubbornness kept him going and helped overcome his injury. While Brighde, taller and stronger than most 'feminine' women in their time, feels like an outsider, but makes an unlikely friend in the grumpy Grieg, and helps him with his challenges. A lovely heartfelt story of overcoming the odds
I really enjoyed this story. The interaction between the FMC and the MMC was wonderful. Great character development and plot. Which it moves at a good pace. Not giving a summary of the story since the publisher does a good job on that. I definitely recommend reading this book and the series. I received an advance copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
If you like Scottish medieval romance, this is the one for you. Book three in the series, takes you on an adventure filled with imagery, depth and an emotional roller-coaster. The characters are grumpy, strong, powerful and oh so heartwarming.
