She wants a one-night stand. He wants forever.

Gracie Smith has a plan for St. Patrick’s Day.
Find a bar. Find a stranger. Have a reckless, forgettable one-night stand.
No feelings. No promises. No complications.

There’s just one problem.
A man.
Her lifelong friend, Beck.

Best friends since kindergarten, they grew up in each other’s backyards, scraped knees and whispered secrets. A first kiss they promised meant nothing.

He’s her safe place. Her comfort. The one person she can truly be herself with.

But this St. Patrick’s Day, with green lights flashing and beer cups overflowing, Beck is done standing by while Gracie gives herself to men who don’t deserve her. Done pretending friendship is enough. Done watching her break her own heart.

Tonight, he’ll make her see him.
Make her see herself.
Tonight, he'll ruin the friendship.

A spicy, emotional friends-to-lovers novella about crossing the line, choosing forever, and realizing the most dangerous thing isn’t losing your best friend, it’s never taking the chance at all.

Friend to lovers 👫
St. Patrick's day themed 🍀
He falls first 💙
Holiday novella 🍀♥️
soft quiet boy, popular girl 👫

This was such a cute and fast read! I loved the plot, the character growth, the banter and the flash backs in each chapter. It made the story so full and rounded given it being a novella. I loved the ending and how the characters evolved and of course the HEA, it was perfect! Each time I read a new Lexis Davis book, I say its my favorite, well this is my new favorite - I loved it! 🍀💕

I got approved for this ARC tonight and no joke… I devoured it in just over an hour 🍀

This little novella had me fully believing in true love again. It’s honestly the sweetest thing. Gracie and Beck being childhood best friends just hits differently. Watching them grow up side by side, sharing history, sharing moments, and slowly realising those feelings were never just “friendly” 🥹

The mutual pining? Painful in the best way.
The tension? Delicious.
The payoff? Worth it.

There’s something about a friends-to-lovers story with real history that just sinks its claws in and refuses to let go.

And I’m not even kidding… I need more of them. I’m not ready to leave their world yet 😭

Five stars. No hesitation. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This was such a cute St. Patrick’s Day themed novella!! A short, sweet, childhood friends to lovers story with a slow burn, banter, and some added spice!

I had such a fun time with this one! I loved the backstory into their history & the present day unfolding before our eyes. Gracie & Beck are friends from a young age, meant to me, but never crossing the line. This one had me rooting for them & loving their friendship so much!!

If you’re looking for a cute, easy, holiday themed read that you will devour in one sitting, this is the perfect one!!

I absolutely loved this one!
I love both Gracie and Beck. I love a good childhood friends to lovers more than anything and this one did not disappoint in any way.
And something about a guy referred to Clark Kent just drives me insane, I can’t even lie.
Becks gift to Gracie? Ugh so adorable!
I love the back and forth between past and present, those snippets of them growing up and experiencing life with each other was done so well.
Over all I love Lexi Davis and I’m so honored to have the chance to read and review Gracie gets lucky.

Thank you to NetGalley and Lexi Davis for this eARC in exchange for my honest opinions!

This was a really fun, surprisingly emotional and kind of spicy novella about two childhood best friends who decide to give in to their mutual desires and hook up on St. Patrick’s Day!

I felt the flashbacks provided a lot of context that’s usually missing with a shorter page count. I enjoyed getting to know these characters!

*I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review*

Oh my goodness, this novella was so wholesome, and the St Patrick's Day atmosphere was on point!

I'm fairly new to this author (I've only read Cupid Is A Liar and Paging Dr Hart in the last couple weeks) but so far every book has been fantastic, the writing has always flowed and all these moments you expect in a romance book (the meeting, first kisses, banter and scenes showing chemistry) are immaculately done. This novella is no different, each flashback shows so perfectly the bond Gracie and Beck share.

I really loved the romance between Gracie and Beck, friends to lovers is always such a fun trope to read about as the characters usually already have a strong foundation, and I can definitely say I felt it in this novella. The yearning was so well done, Beck was such a sweetheart for Gracie, and vice versa. The spice at the end was short and brief, but was a heated bonus that felt long overdue for these two.

The plot was obviously very straightforward since this is a novella, but somehow still had such a strong focus on luck and being brave enough to confess. The whole lack of communication thing I'm not usually a fan of, but in this case it felt like the end of a classic romance movie, when you cheer and fist bump the air on behalf of the characters.

Honestly, I really enjoyed this book, it was cute, amusing and just so playful and romantic, perfect for a one sitting feel good read!

4/5 🌟

This is my 4th ARC from author Lexi Davis and there is a reason I keep seeking out her stories……

This was a solid yes for me—exactly what it promises: a quick, cozy friends-to-lovers romance with past timelines that actually make the bond feel earned. I don’t usually gravitate toward friends-to-lovers or lighter romance, but Lexi’s books are perfect palate cleansers between heavier reads for me. Think comfort food for your brain.

Her dialogue is always a standout—natural, playful, and full of genuine banter. She even sneaks in a touch of tension with the drama outside the bar, which kept things from feeling too soft.

Gracie and Beck were adorable, the chemistry worked, and the pining landed without dragging. A sweet, warm, angsty, feel-good story about two best friends (MF) finding each other at the right time.

If you want something short, cozy, and guaranteed to give you butterflies without emotional devastation, this one delivers.

Mmm man. Ya we had me in the first half. A short, sweet, steamy book? How could you not love that? But then writing, in a heart felt moment by the way, that he took her hand and placed it on his d*ck.? Ya. No. Out of character and ruined it for me.
I’m looking at this as two separate halves. The first half had a lot of build up and I loved that. It’s short and to the point but you have a bit of a slow burn. But then it twists like 180 out of random and it was just odd. The best friend to lovers but the best friend changes his personality when he gets with her the first time - not for me.

Thank you NetGalley for the arc.

Thank you NegGalley and the author for the ARC

This is my third holiday novella by Lexi Davis and this may be my favorite of the three. Her writing is always sharp, and she puts so much into her characters and story you get the emotional impact of a full length novel. My only problem is that I want more, and would happily read a full length book about Gracie and Beck. I can’t wait for her next one.

This is the book everyone should read and be able to relate to .It’s so much more than a fun story . It’s the real power of love in all its splendour and glory. The storytelling is superb ,every noun ,pronoun and verb . I’m not kidding! It’s compelling and has you eager to finish reading.

It’s bliss ,you don’t want to miss one line ,it’s divine. All the feelings reading this, like a love’s first kiss reminisce. An innocence lost and then founded in a compounded moment that holds you close.

A picture perfect best friends to more tale that I’d implore everyone to read what’s more. And at speed without fail. It’s dizzy height .It’s both a delight and intense it’s swell.

One ordinary St Patrick’s Day night that started like any that have gone afore, when the world turned green and bright ,as stars collide and ignite like never before..
It’s not just the colour of the drink in Gracie’s glass or the ex boyfriend and friends who have no class and are rather crass..

She’s wanting to get lucky tonight and her friend is on hand to help her find a fine specimen with whom she can have a good time before the midnight bell has chance to chime.. Oh no that was Cinderella and some other fella …

But fate has other things on the menu , so thus, time for a change of venue maybe … Time will indeed see what the mystery will be…

From out of the trees blew in a gentle breeze that showed two people the light and the future they might never have known… was it not for this night.

To her he’s Oliver but to everyone else Beck . One in a million best friend to her and she loves him too, by heck.

How does this transpire, their friendship turning to desire? Their love burning like fire.

Well you might well ask ,but I’m not revealing how their friendship turned to more was suddenly appealing and her there staring at his fine abs.

Read through all its beautiful pages ,it won’t take ages but you’ll be sated and fulfilled .

This is why Lexi Davis is top billed and has always thrilled us and doesn’t half wow.. She’s one of us now. She thinks like us ,has fantasies and dreams like we do . There ain’t nothing of the romance genre that she cannot put a pen to.

Her voice, her imagination and her spirit to always be in tune with it ,is exquisite .Finger on the pulse and showing us something else , what to indulge in next. At her Beck ( yup I went there) we’ll all happily imbibe ,knowing what we get is gonna be sublime and as described….

We’re always more than happy to be fed these beauties as if it’s our duties to devour . Which we certainly do! Such is her power. Long may we feel the stirring and the whirring pulse of greatness ,that is Lexi Davis

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (And honestly? I’d give it 6 if I could.)

First, a BIG thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for providing me with an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I absolutely LOVED this book. Like, full-blown, kick-your-feet, can’t-stop-thinking-about-it love. I only meant to read a few paragraphs to get a feel for the story… and two hours later I had finished the entire novella because I physically could NOT put it down.

Yes, this is technically a novella, but it never once felt like one. The characters, the shared history, the emotional depth, the storyline… everything was so beautifully fleshed out that it read like a full-length novel. Nothing felt rushed or shallow. It was complete.

The flashbacks of Gracie and Beck growing up together and becoming best friends over the years absolutely wrecked me in the best way. Watching their bond form slowly and naturally made the present-day emotional tension hit that much harder. The way past and present intertwined? Perfection.

And the romance? Oh. My. Word.

The friend-to-lovers trope was executed flawlessly. This was my first friend-to-lovers read, and I think it might officially be my new favorite trope. The longing. The history. The emotional vulnerability. The “it’s always been you” energy. I was gone. Completely gone.

I am OBSESSED with Gracie and Beck.

This story balanced heartfelt emotion with deliciously spicy moments so well, all leading to a deeply satisfying, swoony HEA. And I’m not even ashamed to admit there were parts that made me cry. Maybe I’m hormonal…or maybe it was just that beautifully written. Either way, I was fully in my feelings.

Lexi Davis, if you ever decide to write a full-length novel about these two, I will absolutely devour it. No hesitation.

Highly, highly recommend. 💕

If there’s Lexi’s novella to request on NetGalley, I’m RUNNING so damn FAST to grab it and ignoring everything else (even current 5 star reads) cause:
-they are always so good (I’ve read 3 so far and I’m starting to regret not requesting the Halloween one)
-they are literally a one sitting reads. You only need 1-1,5h and you’re done with another book on your “read” list so it’s not inconvenient to pause any current full length novel for this little novella
-they are novellas but somehow not feeling like they are too short. EXPLAIN THIS TO ME PLS, Lexi is just simply a queen of novellas, no other explanation makes sense

I loved the story and how the kind of dual timeline was mixed in here. The characters are in their 20s but because of the chapters from their childhood and teenage years you can feel the typical high school angst for a minute. LOVED IT!!!

It’s not exactly a second chance but more like “it’s always been you” and it’s simply DELICIOUS to witness how these two idiots finally admit their feelings to themselves and each other.

Run to NetGalley to request it and then add whole Lexi’s backlog to your TBR. I highly recommend her other novellas if you want something quick (literally a one sitting 1 to 1,5h reads)

Check the trigger warnings tho. There’s a SA attempt and on page fight so heads up if that’s triggering for you. If you’re unsure, I think you can just skip it, it’s just couple of pages, but be mindful.

One more thing I wanted to start with it but oh well guess I’m ending with it:
THE AUTHOR’S NOTE - why is it always so funny, lol, I love it.

It’s 100 pages novella but I have over 20 highlights.

gracie gets lucky is a short, st. patrick's day-themed spicy novella that follows the alternating perspectives of gracie and beck, told both in present and occasionally at times when the two were growing up. because i don’t want to spoil the plot (it is a 100-page novella, after all), i won’t divulge any details. i will say, however, that this novella is essentially the summer i turned pretty (prose-wise) meets if he had been with me, (plot-wise) but with less angst.

i loved how the author wasted no time with the plot, but i will say that i enjoyed her valentine’s novella ( cupid is a liar ) a bit more than this one. for starters, the spicier parts of this book seemed a little forced and awkward, and the two main characters didn’t seem very intimate or compatible together. just my opinion, though!

overall, if you’d like a no-nonsense romance that’s short enough to finish in one setting, read gracie gets lucky !

Gracie Gets Lucky by Lexi Davis
5⭐️ 2🌶️

Lexi Davis is quickly becoming one of my auto-read authors, and this novella is exactly why.

Yes, it’s a novella. And novellas play by different rules—they’re short, usually quick, and sometimes can feel rushed. But this one? Not even a little. The pacing was smooth, sharp, and completely addictive. I read it in one sitting (just like Lexi suggested in the book brief), and honestly there was no other way to read it.

The banter hooked me immediately. Beck knows Gracie so well that they don’t pull punches, and I loved that about them. Their dynamic felt natural and lived-in. The chemistry was there from the start, but it never overshadowed the emotional depth.

And can we talk about how romantic this story was? Because wow. In such a short read, I completely fell in love with both of them. The flashbacks to their childhood added so much heart and showed the foundation of their relationship. You could feel the history between them, which made every present-day moment hit harder.

I laughed. I cried. I had all the good feelings. Lexi somehow packed so much emotion into such a tight page count without it ever feeling rushed or overwhelming. That is not easy to do.

At 2🌶️, the spice was present but didn’t overpower the story — it fit the vibe perfectly and let the connection shine just as much as the heat.

This was romantic, heartfelt, and completely satisfying. 5⭐️ without hesitation.

Lexi Davis does it again. 💛

Shout out to the author for really nailing the emotional beats in this novella. It's perfectly sized, with flashbacks helping to really sell the inevitability of the present. It's no small feat to be able to do split POVs while bouncing around timeline-wise in such few pages but Davis makes it look easy and it's impossible not to fall in love with the tender way Gracie and Beck treat each other. If you're a fan of friends to lovers at all, you should enjoy this book as the pair are a wonderful mix of ride-or-die energy and dorky awkwardness as their dynamic shifts.

That being said, I think the emotional and romantic side of things is so solid that it's a bit of a disappointment when the third act comes around and the book shifts in tone. It can be a bit whiplashy as the mood dips up down up down up down in quick succession without the room for what happened to really breather due to the novella's length.

While I appreciate the book's willingness to address toxic masculinity, what it was trying to say didn't really land for me and Beck ended up having a "not like other guys" energy to him that I could've done without. But that's just my opinion, and I can definitely see how he can appeal to readers that probably fit this book's target audience more than me.

If you like a dash of violence, spice with a little bit of endearing goofiness, and a lovable pair of orbiting stars finally colliding with each other then I expect you'll very much enjoy this book.

Me and a seasonal romance really are a match made in Heaven.

I recently read this authors Valentine’s day story, “Cupid is a Liar” , and I enjoyed it. So, I was pretty excited to see that she has written one for St. Patrick’s day as well. (Bonus points for creativity! The St.Patrick’s day theme is a first for me!)
It is SUPER quick, at only 100 pages. and I was able to read it in only about an hour.
Good for some light reading.

This has the friends-to-lovers is a trope, which I sort of think is foolproof and pretty much always brings a lot of sweetness and good vibes.
No exception here, because I thought that Gracie a Beck were a super cute match.
I especially enjoyed the flashbacks to their childhood. I felt like I got to watch them grow up together, and that was pretty adorable.
AND watching them finally get their chance in adulthood was even better.

I don’t really have anything negative to say about this story, other than the fact that I didn’t love the fight scene. (It wasn’t bad, it just felt somewhat random and out of place I think.)
Overall though, it’s cute, sweet, quick and fun. and most importantly… seasonally appropriate!

Thank you to NetGalley and Lexi Davis for providing me with an ARC of this novella in return for a willing and honest review!

Honestly, I think it's just time to admit that Lexi Davis needs to become an auto-read author for me... This is now my third novella I have read from her and every single one gets better and better! Perfectly for anyone looking for a quick fun read that they can read in one sitting or to help get out of a slump. The writing style is so addictive and even though theyre only 100-130ish pages long you really cant help but fall in love with the story and the mcs - this has been consistent throughout all novellas ive read by her!!

In this 100 page pure masterpiece we meet Beck and Gracie - they've been close in each others orbits the entire lives - always there for each other even as they make a few questionable decisions growing up. Following a breakup, Gracie is on a night out with friends looking to 'get lucky' with a one-night stand to help get over her ex where they also meet up with Beck and things move from there.

Never in my life have i read so much yearning in such a small timeframe before this book and this did it PERFECTLY - not too much, not too little! My genuine only complaint is that i wish it was longer! I truly cant get enough of these characters and can genuinely say i kinda got sad after it was over

This is my first Lexi Davis book and it most certainly will NOT be my last. Sprinting over to Cupid is a Liar, actually 👀BUT I also don’t really read novellas, and this was a super pleasant surprise. I won’t be using the same rating scales I have for full-length novels (because I don’t think that’s a fair comparison) but this story was FANTASTIC. Even though I’m not really a flashback girlie, I really enjoyed the flashbacks. I think it provided perfect insight into their relationship arc, which is much needed for this trope. Gracie was girlboss genius STEM nerd x cheerleader, and Beck was the sweetest MMC in the world. I was rooting for them from page one, and was so glad that everything played out as it did. IMO, this gave the final few scenes of People We Meet On Vacation. Chase after her/him! Confess your feelings! Go to BEDDDD!

Bottom line, this was a super fun read that I thoroughly enjoyed, and I expect to find myself devouring these mini novellas for the foreseeable future 🫡

5 stars. What a lovely novella!

Sleep comes for me then, soft and dark, and the last thing I think is that we didn’t cross a line tonight. Beck and me. We came home.

Oh what a lovely novella this was! It was the first thing I've read from Lexi Davis but certainly not the last. I liked the writing style (it was easy to read and the story progressed well), I loved the characters (very likable!) and I loved how the story was told.

Romance novellas are sometimes tricky: so little time to get the main characters believably together. And that's why I really liked how this was written: glimpses of the past where we got to know Gracie and Beck and learned about their relationship and deep connection, and the present where we see how their relationship shifts from friends to lovers.

This was a sweet and a bit spicy read. It made me smile.

WHAT TO EXPECT:

Pov: dual, 1st person
Heat: open doors
Pacing: slowburn
Communication: healthy communication
Third act:
Ending:

Main characters:
* Cinnamon roll hero
* Friends to lovers

Other vibes:
* It has always been you
* ”We’re just friends”

"It was you, It's always been you"

Gracie wants to get lucky, she has broken up with her boyfriend and is now looking for a guy to share one night with. But when her best friend Beck shows up things might not quite go as planned.

To me this was a nice feel good romance book with a touch of drama sprinkled in. Friends to lovers can sometimes be a hit or miss for me. But I liked this one and if you are a fan of the trope I would definitely recommend this book.

The characters were lovable although it did take me a minute to warm up to Beck, I'm not really sure why because he was great.  He loved Gracie and wasn't afraid to speak his mind. Gracie was easy to like, she was more out spoken and not afraid to stand up for herself or those around either.

I liked her friends and the side characters all added something, even the less and savoury ones. Nothing felt added for the sake of it.

Overall this was a fun read, not too short and didn't feel rushed. Good for a day/afternoon to just cosy up and read. I think it can be easy for short stories to feel lacking but this is not one of those.

(I received an ARC of this book with thanks to the author. Though all reviews/opinions are my own)

☘️YEARNING MMCs
☘️best friends to lovers
☘️”I can’t be your friend”
☘️protective MMCs
☘️STEM FMCs
☘️popular/nerd
☘️dual timelines

“Our mommas are best friends and so are we, the whole town’s rootin’ for us like the home team” vibes to like, the nth degree (just, ya know, with a HEA instead of refusing to leave your hometown for the love of your life?). Pls let someone understand that reference 🫠

This short and sweet (and spicy) novella will certainly get you in the St. Patty’s day spirit with childhood best friends Gracie and Beck as they tackle what might be their last chance at ruining the friendship before graduating college.

We’re taken through not only present day, but also blasts from the pasts with both duel POV and a duel timeline.

My only hang up is I feel like we spent so much time leading up to the moment, once we finally get there, the novella is essentially over. I would’ve loved a slightly different pacing so we could’ve seen more of them actually together.

Bonus points for the Taylor Swift nods. I’ll forever (and always) be a sucker for a TS reference.

This was incredible! I absolutely loved it.

My third novella by Lexi Davis and this is my favourite by far. I loved everything about it. Unlike her others, this has no dark romance elements to it, it’s just a straight up friends to lovers romance novella.

Gracie and Beck are such great characters. The best of friends since they were 5. Gracie is just out of a relationship which didn’t end amicably, and on St Patrick’s night, she decides she wants to get lucky and have a one night stand - which really isn’t her, but you only live once right? Well best friend Beck is there to scowl, and be all protective and brooding and perfect? Wonderful news!

I loved the split timeline we get as we see how their friendship has grown and evolved. It means that when things start to change in present day, I was kicking my feet.

This worked perfectly as a novella, it gives you everything you need to be bought into them and their happiness. Selfishly I could say I wished it was a full length book, but that’s because I want more of them, not because there was anything missing from this.

I rarely give 5* to novellas because they usually can’t give me that 5* feeling in the pages available, but this one truly can’t be given anything less. I really loved it.

I really liked this one!! it was fun, festive and creative!

Gracie and Beck grew up together, since they were 5 years old best friends forever, literally. Since kindergarten Beck has stuck with Gracie and now as Gracie is graduating college with her masters she wants... more. Tired of relationships going nowhere she decides to get drunk in a bar on saint patricks day and have a one night stand with a stranger. but.. as the night goes on, things are said.. mistakes are made, hearts break and two people confess that they've always loved each other.

I emailed briefly with Lexi Davis and am in awe of what a sweet person she is, so excited for her next novella she's working on, she'll make amazing stories in her writing career!

Thank you so much NetGalley and Lexi Davis for allowing me to have this Arc copy!

I recently loved Lexi Davis' Valentine's Day novella, Cupid is A Liar, and I could probably copy and paste that review for Gracie Gets Lucky (just switching out the holiday!) because I think she has these pacy holiday novellas down to a fine art!

As with Cupid is a Liar, there's a really insightful Author's Note with Trigger Warnings that explains exactly what you're getting into, and specifically states what the novella isn't. I was definitely in the mood for a short, speedy novella set on one night where the friends become lovers, so this novella was exactly what I was looking for. That's why I binged it as soon as my ARC approval email came through!

Gracie Gets Lucky is actually a really sweet novella and focuses on the relationship between Gracie and Beck, from meeting as children to being at college. It culminates in a spicy scene but it definitely isn't a smut-heavy novella. I thought it was really sweet, and I binged it in one go!

Disclaimer: I received an Advance Reader Copy from NetGalley but this is my voluntary and honest review.
