For someone preparing for competitive exams, the NCERT books are beyond beneficial. The authors are the experts from various fields. The India as we know it today was much different from its "pasts". Apt and precise writing style.
Yes this is me marking my school textbooks as read. Because of these exams, I’m not able to read and am way behind on my reading goal 😑😑 so yes, I’m gonna mark my textbooks as ‘read’ to cover up my reading goal because why the hell not?
Since all pretentious fucks could never reach class ten. Hence no review on this book while tons of them are there on class sixth. NCERT history books are really good books despite of their serious drawbacks but the philistines who have written useless reviews are just regular size trolls.
A welcome relief from the first part. The discussion on Rise of Nationalism in Europe and its effect on Indian Independence movement, is very refreshing. Industrial revolutions impact on World economy and globalization also very illuminating. I agree with many historians that one of the most turning point in the history of humanity is the invention of printing machine. It is heartening to see that 'Print Culture and Modern World' gets a complete to chapter.
I really wish that we had the fortitude as a nation to look at history more honestly and to abandon some of the propagandist instinct. It is a disservice to the intellect of the students who deserve a more nuanced view of our history and the world.
Touching so many topics ranging from history, economy, trade, polity and geography. They way they intertwined and created history, feels wonderful now.
