Great ending and new beginnings. Wally is still out there, and his Dad is a much better man than I would have believed. I like the Rogues here. They are just bad enough to be great.
A very satisfying conclusion to the first year. The battle felt epic due to all the full page art panels. The sacrifice made by Wally's dad was well executed and that Grodd epilogue! Excited for what is next.
Yeah that was disappointing, I know it’s about the flash but that doesn’t mean the fight scenes need to take place in a flash of a second outside of our view. They literally pulled the SpongeBob “wanna see me do it again” meme by not showing us anything. The issue picks up right from the end of the last one (which was already speeding this storyline along) as Wally clashes heads with the giant monster that is the reverse flash, while speed force energy is bellowing out of the cavity in Eobard’s chest. Wally truly believed this is how it will end. As these two beings of the speed force clash, Grodd is off accomplishing a mission of his own…using his powers to take control of a scientist to let him inside the facility where his father is being held! At least one father/son duo is reunited for real this issue. As things are much bleaker on the human side. Luckily Trickster was able to shield everyone from the blasts of the speed force fight, but as the dust settles, Wally’s dad fins him underneath the rubble battered and bruised. But the amazing fight everyone but else comments on seeing is far from over, Reverse flash creeps out from the rubble…once again helping out about how there can be only one. Reverse flash takes off, carving a path of destruction in his path, as Wally chases after him and Wally’s dad calls to the rogues to help him help Wally. Wally is able to catch up to Eobard, slamming down on his big head to get him to come to a haul…only for Eobard to flip right back around and choke slam Wally. Eobard claims that he saw god (darkseid?) and god said there can only be one, Eobard is the alpha and omega and before he can kill Wally…a blast from a freeze gun stop him. Suddenly captain boomerang sends his giant boomerang over top with trickster and the device which opened the portal to the still point in the first place attached. Jesse hits the switch and the portal opens, dragging Eobard inside. He resists and captain cold blasts him back, but it’s Wally’s dad who runs in and takes Reverse flash by the horns and forces him inside the portal, sacrificing himself to make sure Reverse flash stays in the other side. WHAT?! WHY?! Why didn’t they just close the portal on him half way and slice him in half? Why didn’t they use anyone else’s abilities to push him in…Weather wizard is right there!! Absolutely ridiculous sacrifice for no reason whatsoever, and of course they can’t open the portal back up. Wally refuses to accept it, but they can’t even leverage Elenore as she slipped away. Vowing that he will get his father back, Wally takes off and runs away, finally stopping when it all comes back to him and he just breaks down. He finds a change of clothes and goes back to the one place where he may be able to stay…the Dibney mission. As the issue comes to a close, the rogues decide to stay together and become free agents…I guess who cares about the other rogues that escaped and we all forgot about. Additionally, Grodd and his dad are going full planet of the apes as Grodd’s dad now believes that all men are evil and they must all pay. Hopefully Grodd’s time with Wally can disprove that immediately. Thus puts an end on year one of the flash, what a meh way to end it.

This book remains one of the coolest, most stylish of the Absolute line…but just not a lot of substance. Wally losing his dad would be huge, but I don’t think much was done in the first 11 issues to really make that a bigger thing. I’m honesty much more intrigued by the two epilogues, with Grodd and the Rogues, as those characters are all super interesting.

Lemire sigue explorando en este comic la relación padre-hijo, con una secuencia trágica,. que cómo era de esperar acaba teniendo consecuencias en el estado de ansiedad de Wally. Preciosas las escenas de padre-hijo. Y el epílogo molón
all these issues feel too short, too surface level, too fast. I'm upset at Wally's dad. again. very excited about seeing what will happen to Grodd. I hope he'll reconnect with Wally.
Que desfecho mais fraquejado foi esse? Totalmente artificial, uma redução da grande ameaça construída desde os primeiros capítulos, a vontade de parar a série aqui é grande.
