“You really want me to keep your affair a secret?” It was a question Emma thought she would never have to ask her husband.
Pediatric surgeon Emma Reeves thought she had it all... until a sudden car crash shattered both her hand and her marriage in one day.
Now healing in her hometown of Fernandina Beach, Emma gets roped into planning her 25th high school reunion alongside her widowed best friend Rose. It's the perfect distraction, until she's forced to work with the one person guaranteed to get under her skin.
Eliot Tate. The boy who went from childhood friend to enemy #1. The man whose mere presence still makes her blood boil.
But when a mysterious photograph surfaces from their past, Emma begins to question everything she thought she knew about him, and about herself.
Some secrets are hidden for a reason. Some wounds take twenty-five years to heal. And some second chances arrive when you least expect them.

I'm writing about Book 3 and I'm already in the middle of Book 6. But . . . I'm disturbed. First of all the story about planning a high school reunion is a super idea - very clever and a great idea for lots of backstory and memories between characters, especially Emma (protagonist) and Rose her sidekick and two men (former students), Joshua and Eliot. Without giving much away Emma has a lot of personal problems (marriage/divorce, grown children, injury that prevents her from doing her job as a surgeon). I'm not crazy about her parents - mom Jillian is a bit bossy and nosey, dad is kind of duh. As I said, I love the story and the way it progresses almost organically.
BUT, it's obvious it's the author's first attempt at self-publishing. (I wonder if she even tried to send to bonefide publishers - even small press ones. The story context is so good.) The negative is: this is the most horrible editing I've ever seen. Examples: "kne -w" I know using "I" is accepted now, but as a former English major it's awkward when it should be "X and me" instead of "X and I" in the context. So much more awful editing but a good reader can skip and still understand.
Finally, but not everything, (I'm getting tired and want to get back to reading Book 6), when I was ordering that book I happened to see the beginning of the BCC where Emma (protag) is described as a pediatric surgeon. NO! She is a brain surgeon who in Book 4, I think, becomes involved in a pediatric situation when she is a volunteer. This is probably the longest review I've ever written. I write them often. But I have genuine concerns about this author and this story. I truly hope the entire story is hers because it's so clever and compelling. And definitely worth reading for content if readers can get past the horrible editing flaws. I wish I knew her personally so I could offer to edit for her. The only blatant offense I found was her one-time use (I hope) of the Lord's name as an exclamation. It was so not necessary.
Good luck, patient readers. I believe you will really enjoy the story if you can get past the editing errors. I gave it a 4 star because of the editing. The story deserves a 5 star.
