Wittmann chronicles the wartime journey of a young Romanian Waffen-SS conscript, following his struggle through some of the most ferocious theaters of World War II up to the day of Germany's unconditional surrender, only to find that the young Romanian's Balkan nightmare had only begun.
A very interesting story told remarkably well, for any history or human interest buff out there. From forcible draft into the Waffen SS through Guerrilla warfare and defeat to starvation pow camps and finally post war England and Germany. Truly a history of more than its principle character.
