Will friends become lovers when a dash of danger forces the biker and the tattoo artist to admit their feelings for each other?

Shea
Owning a tattoo parlor requires a spine of steel. I’ve had more than my fair share of creeps, and I know how to handle them.

Except for this one guy I can’t shake. He gives off vibes like he stepped out of a true crime documentary.

My coworker says I’m paranoid. My gut instinct knows better.

Thank God for my best friend, Trooper. He comes to my rescue when I need him most, no questions asked—my knight in black leather, riding a Harley.

Trooper
I hate seeing Shea’s confidence rattled because of this freak who won’t leave her alone. Ever since I moved to Colorado, I’ve relied on her friendship while I settled in here. I would stop at nothing to keep her safe.

When her stalker escalates, I’m forced to face the fact that I’ve developed feelings for her.

I love Shea. And if something happens to her on my watch, if this guy hurts her...it will be the worst mistake he's ever made in his life.

Another Winner in This Series

This is another book in the Reckless Order MC series and I feel it deserved five stars. Trooper and Shea had been friends for quite some time and both had come from messed up parents. That has led them to the live they currently were living without any real commitment in their lives.

When Shea has a stalker that gets Trooper to go over and above for the woman, he is ready to admit he’s drawn to as more than a friend. The suspense in this bok was a page turner and I loved the extent that Trooper went to in order to protect Shea. This friends to lovers’ book was a great find. Now I can’t wait to read Pretty Boy’s story.

3.75⭐️ This is the second installment of The Reckless Order MC and I have to say I enjoyed this one a bit more than the first. I loved the fact that they already had a friendship established before things went to the next level. It’s a quick short fast paced read.

This story hit that perfect sweet spot between heart-pounding suspense and the kind of romance that sneaks up on you and refuses to let go.

Trooper is more than just a friends-to-lovers story—it’s about trust, safety, and finally letting someone stay when your whole life has taught you they won’t.

Shea is strong in the way that only comes from having to be. She’s built her tattoo shop from the ground up, learned how to handle herself, and convinced herself she doesn’t need anyone. And honestly, you understand why. Her past left her with walls that aren’t coming down easily.

Then there’s Trooper.

Loyal. Protective. The kind of man who shows up without being asked—and stays.

Their friendship is the heart of this story. It feels real, steady, and comfortable… until it isn’t. Until a dangerous situation forces everything into the open. And that moment? When he realizes something is wrong and storms in, claiming her with a kiss that’s anything but casual—it’s intense, protective, and completely unforgettable.

From there, everything shifts.

What I loved most is that neither of them fully saw this coming. There’s no one-sided pining dragging things out—just two people who suddenly realize that what they have might be more than friendship… and that losing it would cost them everything.

The suspense element adds just the right edge. The stalker isn’t just background noise—it raises the stakes and makes Trooper’s protectiveness feel earned, not over-the-top. And through all of it, you see who he really is—not just the biker image, but the man underneath who is gentle with her in a way that matters.

And Shea? Watching her slowly allow herself to believe that maybe—just maybe—someone will stay this time was one of the most satisfying parts of the story.

If you love:

best friends turning into something more
protective biker energy with real emotional depth
strong, independent characters learning to trust
a little suspense mixed with a lot of heart
quick reads that still deliver all the feels

this one is absolutely worth it.

❤️ It’s intense, tender, and quietly powerful—a story about the one person who was always there… finally becoming the one you can’t live without.

This contemporary small-town MC biker friends-to-lovers romance is page-turning with exceptional world-building in Colorado that is engulfed by darkness, danger, violence, and grit as the result of a stalker who is stalking Shea and Trooper is not about to let that happen, and characters who are an ex-military hero exuding power/wealth, a female heroine, who are both resilient, captivating, and realistic. Their journey is enthralling with the trooper, mature, explicit romance that is consumed by steamy, sizzling passion, lust, desire, and spice with all the feelings to leave readers breathless and begging for more, romantic suspense that will leave readers on the edge of their seats, no OW drama/chaos, heartfelt emotions/emotional depth, mutual pining, action, adventure, and more. I recommend reading this book by an extraordinary author who knows how to captivate her readers' hearts and attention with Trooper and a small-town MC biker friends-to-lovers romance that is sure to transport readers into a world that is wildly lustful, dangerous, intriguing, and unforgettable.

A Protective, Slow‑Burn MC Romance With Heart, Heat, and Real Stakes

Trooper is exactly the kind of friends‑to‑lovers story I adore—quietly emotional, a little gritty, and full of that “oh no, I’ve been in love with my best friend this whole time” energy that hits in all the right ways. Shea and Trooper already have this easy, lived‑in bond when the novella begins, and watching that friendship shift into something deeper is incredibly satisfying.

Shea is such a great heroine. She’s tough in the way tattoo artists often have to be—sharp instincts, steady hands, and a backbone built from dealing with more than her share of creeps. But the situation she’s facing here is different, and Audrey Bell does a great job showing how even the strongest people can get rattled when someone crosses a line. Shea’s vulnerability never makes her feel weak; it makes her human.

And Trooper… he’s the kind of MC hero who wins you over without trying. Protective, steady, and quietly devoted long before he realizes it himself. His frustration, his fear for Shea, and the moment he finally admits what she means to him all feel incredibly real. He’s not just a biker with a tough exterior—he’s a man who found a home in a new town and didn’t realize the best part of it was standing right beside him.

The suspense thread adds just enough tension to keep the story moving without overshadowing the romance. When things escalate, the shift from “best friend” to “I will burn the world down before I let anything happen to you” is handled with a perfect mix of emotion and restraint.

What really makes this novella shine is the mutual pining. Both of them are so convinced the other doesn’t feel the same, and watching that wall finally crack is deeply satisfying. Their chemistry feels earned, not rushed, and the ending lands exactly where it should.

If you love protective heroes, small‑town MC vibes, and friends‑to‑lovers stories with a touch of danger, Trooper is a fast, addictive read that delivers heart, heat, and a hero worth swooning over.

Audrey Bell’s “Trooper” is a gripping short romance novella that masterfully blends suspense and heartfelt emotion. As the second book in The Reckless Order MC series, it stands strong as a standalone, introducing readers to a compelling world where danger brings people closer. The chemistry between Shea, a resilient tattoo parlor owner, and Trooper, her loyal biker best friend, is palpable. When Shea faces a persistent stalker, Trooper steps up as her protector, and their friendship is tested and transformed by the escalating threat.

The novella excels in character development, giving readers authentic insight into Shea’s strength and vulnerability, as well as Trooper’s fierce loyalty and growing affection. Bell’s writing is vivid and engaging, painting a realistic picture of Shea’s daily challenges and Trooper’s determination to keep her safe. The tension from the stalker storyline is balanced perfectly with moments of tenderness and humor, making the characters’ feelings and motivations feel genuine and relatable.

“Trooper” delivers a satisfying romantic arc in less than two hours of reading, showcasing Bell’s talent for concise yet powerful storytelling. The novella’s strong chemistry, authentic emotions, and well-crafted plot make it a standout in the contemporary and MC romance genre. Whether you’re already a fan of The Reckless Order MC series or new to Bell’s work, this book is highly recommended for anyone seeking a fast-paced, emotionally honest love story with memorable characters.

Shea worked hard to get her tattoo parlor up and running. She does a lot of work for the Reckless Order MC, and one of the members, Trooper (aka Teddy or Theo) is her best friend. Her father left without warning or explanation when she was a kid, so it’s safe to say she has abandonment issues. She doesn’t do relationships, because she’s convinced herself they’ll always end.

Hoo, boy, Trooper has his work cut out for him.

It takes a creepy guy hanging around the tattoo shop for Trooper to really take action. The turn happens when she calls him, saying that she’s waiting for him, can’t wait to see him, etc. That’s when he knows something is wrong, because she’d never talk to him that way in real life. So, he goes in guns blazing, and by guns, I mean lips, because he walks into her shop and kisses the hell out of her right in front of the creeper.

Obviously the story doesn’t end there, but you’ll have to read the book to find out what happens.

I do love a friends to lovers romance; more than likely, those romances usually have one person who’s been yearning, while the other has been completely oblivious. This story doesn’t fully follow that pattern, which I actually liked. It made sense that both of them were blindsided by the strength of their attraction.

As with all of this author’s books, there is a happy ending, and don’t worry, the creeper gets his. I really enjoyed this story, and look forward to the next installment in this series.

The Trooper and his Dragonfly

This is the second installment in The Reckless Order MC books - an MC light series that still lays out the rules of the brotherhood but is filled with some drama, emotional depth and a sweet serving of HEA.

Trooper/Theo is kinda happy with his hit it and quit it lifestyle and enjoys being a part of the MC brotherhood. His older blood-brother Tarzan is blissfully ensconced with his wife and child with another on the way and this is what brings the vague unhappiness to Trooper’s life. He has his MC and is a good bestie to his friend Shea, but in his mind, he’s reaching for more.
Quietly confident but solitary, Shea has taken some time to settle into her life. She runs her tattoo parlor and seems to be happy with her life, but thoughts of home and family still trickle through, even though she feels as if no one will value her or find her worthy enough to stay.
When Shea finds herself on the wrong side of a twisted stalker, drama and angst ensues and this is the basis for the story of the two’s relationship and eventual transition to their happy life together.

Though short (and I wish for a longer story!), this is a suspenseful and emotional read that is descriptive and well written, with few typos or grammatical errors. I have thoroughly enjoyed the hours of respite this reading has gifted me and thank the author for giving me the opportunity to enjoy the arc and provide my voluntary review.

Trooper by Audrey Bell is the second title in The Reckless Order MC series and as a quick read it is ideal for an afternoon escape or distraction.
As a small town, friends to lovers, biker romance, the storyline was well paced with some sweetness, steam, suspense and action as well as engaging main characters, Trooper and Shea.
Trooper/Theo has been friends with Shea for years and secretly in love with her as well but has never crossed the line to endanger their friendship. Trooper has also never seen himself as the long term relationship type but when a stalker threatens Shea he doesn't hesitate stepping in to help and protect her.
Shea, confident but fiercely independent, knows Trooper can be relied on and trusts him more than anyone so doesn't hesitate to call on him for help.
A public display of claiming sparks their hidden desires for one another and circumstances ensue that give rise to the opportunity for their longstanding simmering chemistry to ignite. Danger circles and close proximity leads to some steamy and spicy moments which inevitably leads to feelings they can no longer deny. Trooper needs to rethink avoiding relationships and Shea needs to take a chance on someone wanting to stay for her, so with heat, heart and a little danger, this short read will keep you turning the pages to get to their satisfying HEA.

Another quick steamy read from this author featuring 2 friends who both came from broken homes.

Shea’s father left and her mother’s rotating boyfriends over the years has her feeling that no one will stay for her. She throws all her energy into her business in an effort to avoid what she believes will be inevitable.

Trooper (akaTheo) had similar issues in his childhood and they have become friends.

I really enjoyed the juxtaposition of these 2 characters. Shea has been forced to be strong by the events in her life. However she recognizes danger in a client who seems to be stalking her. Theo rides to her rescue and very publicly claims her with a seering kiss. With Theo she can let go and believe he will stay. In Theo’s case, his tenderness with Shea is not what one would expect based upon his appearance.

These characters are well developed for such a short read and very relatable investing the reader in the outcome. I enjoyed the supporting cast, some from earlier books and others promised a future story.

I recommend this for fans of the friends to lovers trope as everything changes with a kiss.

I picked up Trooper: The Reckless Order by Audrey Bell for the drama — and it did not disappoint.

Trooper is chaos personified: reckless, intense, and yet rock solid. The kind of man who definitely won’t ruin your life… only rearrange it a little.

He’s intense, sure — but in that “I’ve got you, no matter what” way. Protective without being overbearing, unpredictable in a way that keeps things interesting, and somehow always five steps ahead. There’s a quiet depth to him too, beneath all the confidence and edge, that makes you believe every choice he makes has a reason.

Not toxic — just… dangerously devoted… which obviously made him impossible to resist.

The chemistry hits hard, the tension keeps climbing, and suddenly it’s 2am and you’re still reading.

The story itself is fast-paced and addictive, with enough twists and emotional moments to keep things interesting. That said, there were a couple of parts where I wanted just a bit more development — especially in the side characters and some of the emotional transitions.

If you like your romance intense, and wildly entertaining — this one delivers. Solid 4⭐️ and I’d 100% go back for more.

She runs her own tattoo shop, and is generally pretty comfortable with what she built for herself. She has good friends, but hasn’t found the guy yet. He is one of her friends, and a member of the local MC. Sure he’s attractive but she’s never crossed the line into considering him that way, but when a creep from work starts stalking her, he’s the one that stepped in. She is awesome and he knows that, but she is also definitely a girlfriend girl, and he hasn’t been a girlfriend guy, not until the creep starts stalking her and then there’s no way he’s gonna let anything happen to her. When they are suddenly spending time together in close quarters, they both realize that their friendship has been a great foundation for something more. This one has a slow burn as they travel the road from friends to lovers. He is a hot hunky biker who cares about the people in his life and has a protective streak a mile wide. She is a strong, independent woman, with the soul of an artist and the determination of someone who hasn’t always had things easy. There is spice, there is sweetness nd there is a happily ever after.

TROOPER is the second novella in The Reckless Order MC series, and you don't need to have read book one to enjoy this one. Trooper takes place a couple of years after Tarzan.

Shea is happy being alone, convinced no one will stay. She has her tattoo shop, and that's good enough. Plus, she has her best friend, Trooper/Teddy/Theo. But that's all it is, right? Trooper has been happy with his love 'em and leave 'em life up until now, but he's getting older and is maybe just the tiniest bit envious of what his brother has with Keely. He's just glad he's got Shea as his best friend. After all, it will never be anything else, right? Their relationship pootles along until Shea is on the receiving end of a stalker. Trooper doesn't take kindly to this and does everything in his power to protect her.

Once again, this was WAY too short for my liking. I am in love with the writing style and the characters, so the ending always comes way too soon. This was a great addition to the series, and I also loved catching up with Tarzan and Keely. Definitely recommended by me.

This is a great edition to the Reckless Order MC series. Trooper is a commitment phobe. He likes to keep his relationships short. He and his brother Tarzan grew up with parents who hated each other and he never wanted to be like them. When his friend Shea is threatened he begins to notice her in a different way.
She’s is a tattoo artist. She was abandoned by her father and ignored by her mother. She was afraid of relationships because everyone leaves. She is tired of being alone but also scared to put her heart at risk. When one of her clients starts to get creepy, she calls Trooper for help.
These two start to fall for each other but can trust that they are not like their parents.
I love how protective Trooper is over Shea. When he tells her she is worth staying for….swoon.
If you love a protective, touch her and die hero, a friends to lovers, independent heroine and found family, then this is the right book for you.

MC romance.
Shea is a young woman who owns her own tattoo parlor. Having grown up without a father and with a mother who went from one relationship to another, the closest thing she had to a family was the local MC. So, naturally, her best friend is Trooper, a biker in the MC and a former soldier. When a creepy guy starts hanging around her shop, it's only natural that she calls him for help. She didn't expect, however, that this forced proximity would change their relationship.
Trooper is a former soldier who became a member of an MC upon his return. His friendship with Shea helped him cope after his time in the army, but beneath their friendship, he always hid his true feelings for her. But when a stalker starts circling her, he knows he's ready to do anything for her.
Will Shea and Trooper have a beautiful love story, or will the danger surrounding Shea and their age difference ultimately destroy their relationship….

This book in the Reckless Order MC series easily earned five stars for me. Trooper and Shea have been friends for years, both shaped by rough pasts that left them guarded and commitment-shy. Their connection always felt solid—but it takes a dangerous situation to push everything into the open.
When Shea ends up with a stalker, Trooper steps up in a way that makes it impossible to ignore what’s really between them. His protectiveness isn’t over-the-top—it feels earned, and it shows just how much he cares. The suspense kept me turning pages, but it’s their shift from friendship to something deeper that really pulled me in.
Trooper is loyal, steady, and the kind of man who shows up and stays. And Shea? She’s strong, independent, and not quick to let her walls down—but watching her slowly start to trust him was so satisfying.
This isn’t just a friends-to-lovers romance—it’s about trust, safety, and letting someone in when you’ve spent your whole life believing they won’t stay. Such a great read, and now I’m definitely ready for Pretty Boy’s story.

OMG! From just friends to forever in a heartbeat. Shea, the feisty, independent owner/proprietor of Hotline Tattoo and Trooper’s Best Friend. Trooper AKA Theodore (to his parents), Teddy (to his brother), and Theo (to only Shea) is Shea’s best male friend and self-professed commitment-phobe. Both had crummy childhoods, Shea’s dad left when she was young and she grew up watching the revolving door of her mom’s boyfriends. Trooper’s parents divorced and their hatred for one another put him off marriage. Neither of them wanted a commitment for similar reasons but when Shea is threatened and calls Trooper for help, their dynamic changes for the better. I couldn’t put this one down. Audrey had me hooked, I can’t wait to read Pretty Boy and Lila’s love story next.

Short, Steamy Romance
Trooper and Shea insist they’re just friends, even though the connection between them has always felt like something more. But when a creepy customer begins showing up regularly at Shea’s tattoo shop, pretending to be in a relationship suddenly seems like the perfect solution. The only problem? Pretending starts to feel a little too real.
When Shea calls Trooper and claims he’s her boyfriend, he immediately knows something is wrong. He doesn’t hesitate to show up for her, and one heated kiss changes everything between them. Sparks fly, feelings rise to the surface, and Trooper becomes determined to protect Shea from the man who refuses to leave her alone.
If you enjoy friends-to-lovers romances with protective bikers, steamy chemistry, and a touch of suspense, this entertaining story is worth picking up. It’s also short enough to finish in a single sitting.

Shea owns her own tattoo shop.
Trooper is a member of the Reckless Order MC and has been a friend of Shea's for a while now.
One day Trooper gets a phone call from Shea that is totally out of her scope that he knows something isn't right. So he gets to her sees some guy looking over her tattoo equipment. He walks in says something flippant and kisses her.
That starts thinking between the two. Then the idiot who caused her to call him starts again by leaving a gift that gives off danger vibes. Now the club is protecting her and Trooper is getting ideas of permanent.
Will he be able to keep her safe? Will he be brave enough to reach for who he wants?!?
A fantastic story in this MC universe.

Since her father left when she was eight years old, Shea is used to men leaving her. Trooper never thought a relationship could last, thanks to his parents' divorce.

Shea and Trooper built a solid friendship over the years, but could it be more?

Shea wants more with Trooper, but is afraid that he will not stick around and leave just like all the other men in her life.

When Shea calls Trooper because a creep keeps showing up, Trooper's protective instincts kick in, and he realizes just how much he cares for her and that he'll do anything he can to protect and keep her.

This is book two of The Reckless Order MC series, and you don't want to miss it.

4.5 stars ⭐️ Shea and Trooper have been friends and nothing more, but when someone starts to threaten her he begins to realize how important she is to him. He gives her protection to help keep her safe which also means staying with her when the threat increases. After their kiss, Shea can’t stop thinking about him and once he is in her house the sparks fly and their friendship gives way to a strong attraction. Their chemistry and steam are fabulous and he treats her as if she is special and worth be there for. Both have past family relationship issues and are tentative to give in to having a long term relationship with each other. Will their past keep them from being together? Will they find the threat before she’s at more risk?

Trooper was a quick friends to lovers read. Trooper/Theo has been friends with Shea for a few years when the feelings morph into something more and they give in to the sexual tension. Both have hang ups about being in a relationship. Trooper’s never been in one and Shea has abandonment issues. Thankfully they overcome that and Trooper embraces the thought of trying to make a go of it with Shea eventually getting married and having kids (he is great with Tarzans toddler son)

I’m looking forward to Lila and Play Boy next.

Book 2 of The Reckless Order MC series. Can be read as a standalone but for maximum enjoyment read the books in series order.

'When her stalker escalates, I’m forced to face the fact that I’ve developed feelings for her.'

The characters were very appealing and complex and perfectly steamy together. Plot was intriguing and intense and well paced. World building was solidly drawn and impressive. All in all a great addition to the series. Enjoyed immensely and highly recommend.

Firstly, I would like to say thank you for my ARC of this book. It definitely packed a lot into a little book. It was a very easy and quick read. It didn't waste time with unwanted narrative. Got right to the point and was well written that despite its shortness this book said and did everything it needed to. I got a great feel for all the tattoos that were described. I could seen in my mind the biker characters and almost could smell that tattoo shop. The main couple were great. I loved the way their interactions and conversations were written. Now I am looking forward to the third installment of this series.

Shea owns the local tattoo shop, many of her customers are members of the Reckless Order MC. Theo/Trooper has become friends with Shea, never thought he would want a wife and family. Now that his brother is married with a kid, he is feeling a little jealous of what his brother has. When Shea has a threat against her, it has Theo understanding that she means more than a friend. Shea keeps herself closed off to hurts from people who could hurt her. Theo will need to convince Shea that what they could have is worth the risk.

Trooper is a veteran and an MC member; his best friend Shea is a tattoo artist. I enjoyed this friends-to-lovers story. I liked watching them give in to their attraction and build a relationship. Shea was fun because she is an artist, drawing fake tattoos on a little boy and on her big boy, Trooper. Trooper captivated me, and I think it was the dog tags. There was a suspense plot, but the love story was the focus here.

This biker romance starts with a friends-to-lovers setup, where a threat pushes the characters closer together, leading from a kiss to something more. Unfortunately, the progression didn’t feel very believable to me, and the relationship developed a bit too quickly to fully connect.
I also found the male main character somewhat inconsistent—at times he fits the typical biker role, and at others he doesn’t, which made his character feel a bit unclear. Overall, it’s an okay read, but it didn’t fully work for me.

This story of a former soldier turned motorcycle club member and a self made tattoo artist had all the feels. Trooper and Shea are friends. They tease each other, even flirt occasionally, but they never crossed that line. When they both identify their own personal feelings for the other they let their childhood traumas get in the way of acting on them. But when someone threatens Shea, and she turns to Trooper for help, she finds more than safety and protection. Thedy both find everything they never knew they could have.
