Anyone who has ever experienced physical or emotional fatigue as a result of our frantic modern world will welcome this practical and hopeful book. Dr. Gregory L. Jantz shows readers how to change the debilitating patterns of the past, leaving the road clear for a healthy and revitalized future. How to De-Stress Your Life is filled with exercises, checklists, and potential situations designed to guide readers into a probing self-examination to pave the way to renewed physical, emotional, and spiritual health.
While there are some worthwhile takeaways from this book, such as diverting attention away from that which stresses/drains you to what drives your passions... or recognizing and accepting your emotions yet not allowing them to rule your life... the issue I had with this book was how contrived it was. It was a call to God more than it was a focus on achieving accountability for our actions and choosing the right path toward “enlightenment.” The anecdotes were well-scripted to justify his points. Those are just a couple to start with.
So, if you pick this book up, take what you need and leave the rest. I would also consider using it as a “workbook” over a longer period of time, which is subtly implied throughout the book; however it is not marketed or presented as such explicitly.
