I made it about 56% of the way through this book before I put it down in a DNF. I didn't like the MC, and I didn't enjoy the world building.
The MC is the head of security to a nightclub/stripclub in some city somewhere. Something happens and some crazed people break in and start attacking. During the fight, he's killed and then some demon in hell purchases his soul and now he's back alive and able to combat the "Wrecked" that attacked him. Makes sense, huh? Now he's got some decent abilities to work with. And he's given a trainer, a hot woman he's instantly interested in.
And she's interested back. From heavy flirting to having sex after the first combat scene. The sex scenes are pretty bland, and while the first woman was just ok. By the time I quit the book, there was a second potential LI around who may end up being more interesting, but I didn't stick around to find out.
The world building is pretty subpar. It's starting to sound like both a base builder and LitRPG with skills and weapons. But it isn't well fleshed out, and the MC and the reader ends up with way more questions than there are answers.
For self-insert readers, fair warning: The MC smokes cigarettes periodically. If that will bother your immersion, you may want to avoid it. I don't self insert as a reader, but I loathe smoking, so I was not liking the MC from the very first chapter of the book. The smoking adds nothing to the story, so it was a curious choice for the author to make.
The story starts and it doesn't let off on the action and suspense. It's full of unique characters and you'll find yourself thinking differently about Santa and wanting to cuddle Blinky
