Frosted Fakes

Fake it till you bake it.

Being the daughter of a celebrity chef is one thing. Being a catastrophe in the kitchen is quite another. So when Julia Richardson’s mother gives her an ultimatum, and a bakery in the village of Oakhaven, Julia knows she's doomed.

Elliott Sinclair is a tattooed, self-taught baking prodigy with trust issues and zero patience for privileged amateurs. When Julia crashes into her life, literally, it's hatred at first sight.

Until, during a surprise visit from her mother, Julia panics and calls Elliott her girlfriend. Now they've come to an Elliott bakes, Julia pretends she can, and they both fake being madly in love. Simple, right?

Except Julia's finding it’s harder to fake feelings than fondants. And Elliott's icy walls are developing some very inconvenient cracks. Throw in a scheming rival baker, a meddling celebrity mother, and an employee whose courage is making them both rethink their own lies, and this fake relationship is a recipe for disaster. Or is it?

Frosted Fakes is a grumpy-sunshine, fake-dating, opposites-attract sapphic romcom with a very happy ending from bestselling Sapphic writer Sienna Waters, author of The Reluctant Romantic, For My Finale, and The Farmer Has a Wife.

Loved it! I found the start amusing and remained amused for the whole book, apart from the bits that touched me!

(rounded down from 4.25)

Wholesome, funny, and with a cast of fun side characters, as expected. The humour is very dry (i.e. British), and the grumpy/sunshine dynamic is very good, as usual. I always know I can rely on Sienna for a light romance (very low on angst) and mostly just a good time with a bunch of fun characters and a cute romance at the centre to root for.

being honest is hard..

Your mother is a famous chef, your brother and sister are as well and you can set ice sculptures on fire. Your mother’s decided you’ve coasted long enough and bought you a bakery. So far you’ve set the smoke detector off 4-5 times a day burnt everything you’ve tried to make and the apartment above the bakery where you were supposed to live already had a tenant. A grumpy tenant.

Sienna has done it again created lovable, realistic characters a story that is completely enjoyable.

Good characters and enjoyable fun read. I do think it’s a bit loose on some detail. You can’t sell or buy a building with a sitting tenant without realising. Also the whole fake dating thing was odd because everyone important already knew and I wasn’t sure why there was a big dramatic reveal along the lines of I can’t lie any more when there hadn’t actually been any lying. I don’t recall them ever saying Julia was baking.
Anyway all still enjoyable just not my favourite by this author who has after all set themselves a very high bar.

OK so I might be crying through my tears, this is just that good.

How can someone be so good with words? Sienna Waters has a gift that keeps on giving. Her style is gentle, at times it twists your insides then suddenly everything is just right! This tale covers so much ground emotionally, you just have to take the time to devour every word like you do your favorite pastry!

Heart melting

Fake dating is absolutely one of my favourite tropes, so I was destined to love this book for that alone...

The characters are so well rounded, and every single name that appears on the page comes to life.

The only downside is that now I really want a croissant (or 6).

Very enjoyable read.

Very enjoyable read! Great story with equally great characters, main and supporting cast. I thought I wrote a pretty good review but I was told the review needed seven more words. Love Amazon

something fresh

Sienna Waters wrote a lovely heartfelt love story. She included some very serious parts of being a human that are terrifying to admit to the people you love. Hopefully we learn the lessons she has written so eloquently about.

DELICIOUS!

Excellent build. The story unfolds like a perfectly kneaded pastry. The character development proves like a fine yeast dough rises.

So good, had me in tears at one point, Sienna knows how to bring characters to life and put yourself in their shoes.
