Shnelle Jackson is a devoted school teacher with a soft heart, a guarded past, and a life built on routine. When she agrees to a medical procedure meant to secure her future, she never expects it to turn her entire world upside down. But after a shocking mistake at a fertility clinic, Shnelle ends up pregnant with a child that was never supposed to be hers.
The father is Shakeer, a hood-raised billionaire with power in the streets and influence in the boardroom. Still grieving the love he lost, becoming a father was never part of his plan. But when Shnelle enters his life, something shifts, and what starts as a situation he wants to control quickly becomes something he can’t let go of.
As their lives collide, Shnelle learns that Shakeer can protect her in ways no one ever has. But the deeper she gets, the more she realizes his world comes with secrets, danger, and consequences she may not be ready for.
Now Shnelle must decide if love is worth the risk, while Shakeer must face the truth about who he is and what he’s willing to become for the woman carrying his child.
In this first installment of Surrogate to a Hood Billionaire by Mistake, love is complicated, loyalty is tested, and fate proves that some mistakes are written long before we ever make them.
JK Rowlings, JRR Tolkien, Suzanne Collins, Stephanie Meyers, Alice Walker, Terry McMillan Gloria Naylor, just to name a few… are all authors I have read and enjoyed. They have all needed sequels, prequels or to carry the story on in some way. This book DID NOT! Less than 200 pages on the Kindle, and even most of that could have been chopped down to eliminate at least 50 pages. If your book is filled with filler then you may need to work on your craft a bit more before you decide to publish it. I don’t care what happens next, and I won’t be back to find out.
Quick review for those interested in the actual story:
The book had too many POV’s that felt incomplete most times. The ghost of Nicole and bringing her back to create suspense and anticipation fell completely flat. The characters rushed into relationships just because seemed so unrealistic. The way “fate” tied all the main characters together seemed like lazy writing. None of these characters were mature enough to convince me they were calculated, intelligent, above it all, selfless, powerful or anything else the author implied about their personalities. They were all juvenile delinquents one bad decision away from being jailed, homeless, or dead. The way one of the MMC walked around with his hand on his gun that was holstered was comical, I kept picturing him like an old western tv character ready to draw, so I could not take him serious at all. The way he carried would instantly draw suspicion from anyone making him an easier target, while looking like a ridiculous nervous wreck. No one conceal carries like that lol and this is a series? The brother started off as a playboy turned family man in less than two-three chapters, that was so believable. I finished it because I wanted to see how the unplanned pregnancy resolved itself, but towards the end the way they instantly started coupling up made me not even care anymore about the book. I don’t like easy, weak minded, bird brained FMC and they both are. I thought maybe Say-Say would be different since she was more headstrong and assertive, but she caved instantly willing to settle for another man not claiming her, which was stupid because that was the same issue she had with her last situationship. I predict the MMC will chose Shnelle over Nicole, but Shnelle will “resist” him due to the connection to her cousins murder. Nicole is going to be a hater, maybe plot against Shnelle in some way to get her man back. Say-Say and the brother will end up engaged and/or pregnant. Same recycled story that doesn’t need a part 2,3 or 4.
Sometime we have to do things that we least expect. Those that’s closest to will do you the worst. Never judge a book by its cover. Mistakes can be a blessing or a mistake, either way make sure you learn from them.
Shnelle is just a woman trying to live in her soft girl era but life has other plans🫣. Her mama is the worst. I honestly would have to love my mom from a distance cause ain’t no way. Having to deal with her mother choices cause Shnelle life to change in a way she least expected😔. That changed now has her on the forefront of someone she thought she would never see again - Shakeer🥰. The way they both were placed in each other’s life is unamerican and uncommon. Oh but it’s the slight attraction that has me tickled🤭. They need to quit playing with each other.
Shakeer aka Hood, he that guy and he gives B.D energy but my guy been hurt like no other😔. A man willing to change for his person and the man to me. However, some men take too long and it becomes too late🫣. I honestly think this is what happened with Hood love of his life Nicole. Babygirl vanished without a trace. Now what he wasn’t expecting was to be intrigued by another woman - Shnelle. After learning what was suppose to be something him & Nicole experienced together was happening with someone else, ya boy mind is everywhere. One thing I can say, he is a momma boy and I love it. When things got heavy, my guy went straight home to mama. It was the immediate protectiveness of Shnelle for me. As much as he wants to fight them feels, he can’t. My worry is Nicole resurfacing. Something not right, just don’t know what.
Now Selma & Shakille 🤭. These two are something else but I love their relationship. The love & passion Selma has for her students in the fiction world, need to how teachers are today🤔. My girl paid attention and took action. I wasn’t expecting them actions to turn into her being a major factor in her student Janiya life but Shakille had other plans🤭. Now I knew the contractual agreement wasn’t going to work 🤭. Both were already attracted to each other. However, what I loved the most was thought behind it before the lines were blurred - Janiya.🥰.
This is a read that deals with depression, addiction, heartbreak, neglect and second chance love and I enjoyed every bit of it. That ending though, yeah I have a feeling I know who it is and if it’s who I think something ain’t right. Headed over to book 2 to see if my assumption is right.
I actually like surrogate books. Shnelle was trying to get money up through a test study. Only to end up being pregnant by a billionaire. Her friend Selma ended up making an arrangement with the billionaire brother to help raise his daughter. This book was really good but it had some errors in it. Only suggestion I want the cover to match the characters. He got a fade on there but the author said he had dreads in the book. May I add there is a part 2 which I kind of suspected
I feel like she's been sending all that money she's been asking for to her raggedy daughter who up and left because she didn't want to be with Shakeer anymore. I dont understand, someone set Selma's apartment on fire? Is Nicole back because she feels like she's about to be replaced 🤔 I need answers?! I dont think Shnelle is going to be too happy about her cousin being unalived by Shakeer thats definitely going to cause tension 😬.
Girl you didn’t have to do us like that so ma’am you need to get to the front office right now lol please don’t tell me Nicole is back from the dead I believe shock is dirty and him and Nicole are in cahoots but I’ll wait to see if I’m right and who burned down say-say apartment and where is that bm at lurking I can’t wait to see what happens next see you soon you are still in trouble lol
Pinch me to see if it's real 'Cause my mind can't decide
Shakeer was drawn to Shnelle went he first laid eyes on her. A “freak” accident lands them in each other’s lives for the long haul. Will the 2 strangers be able to survive?
Selma hated Shakille at first sight. An unexpected encounter has them in close proximity for a few months. Will they be able to coexist?
The way they are all connected is crazy. The way Shakeer and Shnelle get together is so one in a million. So many connections, twists, turns, and secrets I’m clutching my invisible pearls. The cliffhanger and last text got me shook. Is Pooh man Shawn? What’s going on with Nicole and her mother? Is it the end before the beginning? Hood and Shnelle are you over before you started? Say-Say are you and Shakille gone make it work?
Looking at the cover and reading the synopsis, I thought it was just two main characters but there are 4 and I’m not sure how I feel about that. He’s stuck on a girl who left him 3 years ago without a word 😒 I didn’t connect to the characters and the girl came back at the end leaving a cliffhanger so I’m sure she’s going to act like she didn’t leave in the the 2nd book
Mannnnnn my spirit knew the ending was gonna have me shook and here we are…still sitting stunned and baffled because if there’s one thing Jazz gon do…it’s have a chaotic to be continued moment *cries in wait.* already wondering when the next drop happens because as usual I’m invested!
Four couples who met by fate and whose stories are just beginning. Selma and Shah have finally revealed that there's more to their arrangement, while Shnelle and Hood's problems are just starting. I'm curious to see how it unfolds in book 2, especially with Nicole likely returning. Great first book.
Jazz E. ma’am! I couldn’t put this down. Fate brought everyone together, even when they didn’t want to be. Even if the situations were a little messy. Selma is great with Janiya and Shnelle just needed some reprieve. Also, Shnelle’s momma is trifling. I’m glad Selma let her use her apartment. This book was so good and I can’t wait to find out what happens next.
Whew chileeee, I know that’s her at the end smh. She got some explaining to do, walking in there looking like his money lol. Anywho, lol, chillleeeeee, this messy!!!!! Idk if it’s Shah’s BM, Swa’vae, or Bentley mad self that set that fire smh. Book 1 definitely set the tone; I need book 2 asap lol.
I love the title of this book and it definitely describes the story within. This story has started off with so many things going on. From the beginning I have gotten into the characters and their stories. From heart break to secrets, to truths. I can't wait for more, especially with that cliffhanger.
I was laughing throughout the book. They were even funny while killing folks. I figured the long lost girlfriend was gonna come back trying to claim. It's always the plot twist. I enjoyed the book from beginning to cliffhanger. Even tho I hate cliffhangers.
I can't wait to read part 2 I bet this.is the Nicole chic.now how this going to work. I know I know Shells should sue this clinic it's a mess. I love how here friend Say Say is she don't play bout her friend. I love me some Shakir an shakiille is the man. I can't wait to see what the future hold.
Wow, I feel so bad for Shnell because her life is in chaos and the cliffhanger isn’t going to be a good thing. She’s dragging her feet when it comes to that clinic though. I really want to see how hood proceed from here with that ghost. Because ain’t no way.
The groundwork for good story is being laid. Chemistry between the main characters is just now heating up, so I consider this a slow burn. It feels like more info is needed but maybe that's apart of the day the author wants this storyline to go. Hopefully things pick up in part 2.
Of course when everything starts to go right, everything goes bad! I just know dang well that ain’t who I think it is at the end, if so she can crawl back under whatever rock she was hiding under 🙄. I just hope in the end my girls get their HEA with the men they deserve to have it with.
Thank you for your work, u are new to me and I live for a good surprise/ opps baby story. I hate it hand to end on a cliff hanger and I know this damm Nicole ain’t came back. Better not get back with her either
See I started reading this HOPING it wouldn’t end like this…but Miss JazzE….Whyyyyyy…sooo much was SAID IN THOSE LAST 3 CHAPTERS…..this wasn’t no regular CLIFFHANGER….this was a NERVE WRECKER….cuz how you came up with this 🤔🤔🤔
Jazz you did the darn thing with this book. My mouth is wide open at that ending. I'm loving the guys and the girls. I know that ain't who I think it is at that house. I can't wait to read part 2. This is most definitely a must read. You deserve more than 5 stars.
This story is already crazy. I'm just looking forward to the rest of drama. Why am I thinking the witness going to be Nicole. Jazz E you always coming through
We’ll MISS JAZE done roped me in once again. I been wondering about Nicole. Something ain’t right with her disappearing? Whew I just know this is about to get messy. Carry on, heading to part 2
Good storyline but the author can truly work on bringing the story together. It feels like so much is missing from all the characters as well as the pace of the story just moved to fast. No character development.
