I loved the idea of the book but didn’t like how it was executed.
*This is going to be all over the place since I just finished it. I was not given an ARC. Just good timing I guess.*
Everything was resolved in the last chapter. Then it jumps to Ten Years Later.
The spicy daydreams lasted longer than the actual relationship buildup.
I felt like the connect between Harper and Brooks could have been better. It was glossed over. They finally got together and it was like “the last few weeks have been great” but the focus was more on PR nightmare than really getting to know their connection.
I LOVED that when they took the trip to the hospital. You really got to know how great Brooks really is. Then the accident! Yes! I was rooting for him!
Harper knew her sister could have lied about Brooks and she gave him a chance to show that. I loved it!
Overall it was a great story. It could have focused more on the couple together than the couple apart. Also too many characters not enough story. Also what happened with her sister. Haha
Also I’m a little mad that the last chapter in one paragraph said “Harper, I love you……will you marry me!” Then she says “I’d love to! Oh I’m kinda pregnant” then EPILOGUE Ten years later. What!!??

I could NEVER ever be with somebody who was with my sister. Yuck (possible spoilers ahead)
Sorry, but the yuck factor of h banging H, who had previously banged her sister, was just a nope. 🤢 I already suspected the sister was lying about H cheating on her, and she was. She was the one cheating on him.
Anyway, the *sound effects* in this book made me laugh. Wut? Some were from hockey, some were from sex 🥴🥴😂
FWEEEEEET!
BRAAAWWWWNNKK!
“Uh, uh, uh, uh,”
“Huh, huh, huh,

SMACK! FWEEET! “YESSS!” BRAAAWWWNK!
“Oh yeah. That's it, Maddox. Spill for me. Let me see you blow your load. Go on. Yes, yes. That's it.”
“UUUHHNN!”
FWEEET. The whistle cuts clean through the noise. BRAAAWNK.
Harper Lane is on a midnight shopping mission to buy a can of elusive chickpeas. She finally tracks down the last can on the top shelf and stands tiptoe reaching for her reward... which falls from the shelf onto her toe and rolls away. She takes off after it and runs into what she thought was a wall. Hands reach out to steady her until both of them recognize each other. Brooks Maddox is her sister Kim's ex-boyfriend and her family detests him. When she orders him to go away, he turns and bumps into a man rummaging through the lower shelves. He apologizes, but the man is absolutely furious and shoves Brooks needlessly into a display that collapses all over him. The man raises his fists and threatens to continue the violence as everyone in the store and a security guard converge on them. The man punches Brooks just as the security guard arrives and Brooks' elbow accidentally bumps the guard's now bloody nose as the "audience" whips out their cameras, falsely whispering that Brooks deliberately assaulted a customer and the guard. With Harper being the PR specialist for the Las Vegas Aces, and Brooks being a recognized NHL star, she just may be seeing lots more of him when he is involved in a PR disaster.
Being stuck together over this PR disaster, they eventually recognize an attraction for each other. Why would a PR specialist dare risk worsening the scandal by falling for her client, continuing that relationship, and apparently unaware of birth control?!!! Oh, yes, and don't forget her entire family's animosity toward her client who supposedly cheated on her sister. Harper does notice that Brooks is very different from the "demon cheater" her sister had described, so perhaps it was all a lie? But even so, Harper is going to have a great deal of decisions to make (if only to repair the disaster her own behavior is creating)... and she probably shouldn't have risked her professional integrity by taking his PR case to begin with!
The story was written well and was intriguing in general. But then throwing out the rules and breaking them blatantly is something that is so incredibly stupid that I was no longer able to cheer for them. There are some lines that should never be crossed, especially while still in the midst of defending a client! It was too big a risk to take.
I hate my sister’s cheating, heartless ex, my family’s longtime villain. But that didn’t stop me from warming his bed, and now I’m pregnant.
Brooks is the NHL star I’m forced to clean up after when his life goes viral.
We’re trapped together by PR disasters, late nights, and stolen heated glances.
Every piercing look is a challenge that I swear I won’t accept.
Until I do.
He touches me like he’s been holding back his entire life, and I let him.
Once becomes twice. Twice becomes a secret I crave.
I fall before I admit it, and feel like I’m betraying my family.
And the most unforgivable truth hits my family the hardest.
I’m pregnant with my sister’s ex.
But the man I’ve come to know isn’t the demon my sister describes.
Who’s lying about their past?
The truth may save us, or blow up everything.

Although it does not appear to be listed as a series, there is not a book in this set that I have not enjoyed. Lexi Dove takes the cake when it comes to hot hockey romance.
Harper and Brooks have history, although not the usual kind. He dated her sister and things ended badly. Her version painted. him as someone not worth associating with. His version was kept quiet. So when Harper runs into him, literally, during late night trip to the grocery store the last thing she wants to be is polite. So of course, they end up in each others direct path.
Harper is a public relations specialist for the Aces hockey team and Brooks is their star forward. He is also their biggest problem child. So when he gets in trouble, yet again, Harper is put in charge of cleaning up his image. Along the way she finds the story her sister told has a lot of holes in it, because who she portrayed him as is not at all the Brooks that Harper is working with. And the man she is working with is one she is falling in love with.
This book, and all of the Pucking stories are worth the read. If you like hockey, heat, romance, and excitement these are books for you!.

This is fast paced, ice hockey romance by Lexi Dove. I loved reading about Harper and Brooks, it is a surprise pregnancy and sister’s ex story . I found that I couldn’t put it down as it had a great, well written storyline with some steamy scenes.
Brooks is known for getting in to fights but I find him a loveable character and when he sees Harper,( who works for his team’s PR) he thinks how beautiful she is. The problem, he dated her sister and it ended on bad terms so now all her family hates him.
After an altercation at a supermarket, Brooks hits the headlines and it is Harpers job to do damage control. She helps him to control the narrative so the media shine a better light on him. This leads them to spending more time together and the sparks fly. Harper finds out she is pregnant amongst the chaos.. What will her family think? Is the fact that her family hates him based on lies?
I enjoyed this book and will definitely recommend if you love ice hockey romance. I definitely can’t wait to read more from Lexi Dove.

Harper went to Megamart ,she was trying to find a can of chikpeas after she found it , she was running after it because it fell down from the shelf ,she bumped with a guy he was Brooks Maddox her enemy her sister’s ex she sent him off , he bumped into a man and in minutes it was a disaster. Brooks was accused of starting a fight in a Megamart, the day after the Nevada police department called him to make his statement, when he finished, the Aces director Pr called to meet at 11 am. After practice he went to her office and with her was Harper he couldn’t believe ,that she was there and when he asked she tells him that she’s the aces pr specialist. The Director also tells him that he need to do some community outreach and there needs to be media coordination. A carefully structured reset of a public image. And Harper’s part of it, so you two will be working closely together. He couldn’t resist working with her because she grew into a nice woman and if her sister knew that they were together for sure she would do something to separate them.
Woow an amazing book that I loved reading I will recommend it to read.
I loved how the author handled Harper and Brooks’s story. Harper is in PR for the Las Vegas Aces NHL team, and a few months after she starts, Brooks Maddox joins the roster. The chemistry between them is undeniable—and the added history that Brooks once dated Harper’s sister, who insists he cheated on her, gives their dynamic an extra layer of tension. I really enjoyed how the author lets their relationship slowly rebuild. They reconnect, push back against their attraction, and then—when they finally give in—we really feel the intensity between them. The work on Brooks’s PR image, the team dynamics, and Harper’s family issues all add depth without ever overshadowing the main couple. I also appreciated that the “break-up” angst stayed minimal, so when the HEA arrives it feels natural and well-earned. And the epilogue ties everything together beautifully, giving their relationship a sense of longevity that made the ending even more satisfying.

Though it is well-written, I have mixed emotions regarding this book. On the one hand: it is well written; characters are well developed; descriptions of hockey games, tensions, and commraderie are well-done; great, detailed, steamy spicy scenes; emotional highs and lows; plenty of angst; family drama with secrets and lies. On the other hand I rolled my eyes over the characters exhibiting: questionable career decisions; questionable personal decisions; questionable family drama; has no one ever heard of birth control? And I'm not a huge fan of "fantasy" spice - imaginings or dreams. Even though they add steam to the story I really want the charscters to experience the real thing. Maybe I'm just too logical! I'd still rate this a 4 star because it is well written. I was given a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving my honest review. All thoughts and opinions expressed are strictly my own.
This is one of my favorite series… while it can be read alone, I’ve loved reading all the previous books. I know the teammate characters from her previous books, when they interact with one another or are referred to. Brooks and Harper are electric, their chemistry is irresistible. Harper is smart and fun to read. Her sister,Kim, is a grade A Seawitch. Harper is strong and confident. Brooks is smart, funny, sexy and a hockey player with a misunderstood rep. Oh and Kim’s ex. 🤦🏽♀️ Their paths are constantly intertwined, from the first time they run into each other again in Vegas. And after that they are kind of stuck with each other, thanks to PR needs to save Brooks’ career. This book, was amazing. I was waiting to find out why Harper’s family hated Brooks so badly. I love Lexi’s hockey stories! 5/5 story 5/5 chemistry and spice.

I loved that this book was a sport romance that was about hockey. I have been reading a lot of different romance books. I think hockey might need to go under my love for football romance novels because of the possessiveness of the men. For me, the spice in the books was top tier. It was placed in the right sport. I loved how all the misconceptions were fixed in the end of the book. But while reading it, I was thinking that maybe the misconceptions were right but maybe he changed and grew. But it was such a great read that I could have read this book in 1 day but I needed got busy with other things in life. It's one of the books that I will definitely reread again in the future!
Hockey romance. Harper is a young woman who came to Las Vegas after breaking up with her ex-boyfriend. Now she's in charge of public relations for a hockey team, a team where her sister's ex-boyfriend plays. Brooks is a hockey player. After his last breakup with a lying and manipulative woman who was a media nightmare, he changed teams and is trying to rebuild his life. He didn't expect, however, that after a fight he would end up having to work with his ex-girlfriend's sister. But their forced proximity eventually makes him fall for her. Will Harper and Brooks have a beautiful love story, or will Harper's past and her secret keep them apart….

He dated her sister years ago and it ended badly with her painting him as the bad guy, he never told his side of the story. She is PR with hockey team that he gets traded to. He has a bad reputation and she is in charge of cleaning it up. They work together and start to fall for each other but he is not what her sister portrayed him. Is her sister not telling the truth? Family drama, great characters, steamy chemistry, thoroughly enjoyed reading this story.

This a a spicy hockey romance. Brooks was her sister Kim's ex. Kim hated it and made it well known. However, Harper doesn't see him being like her sister said. The sparks that fly between them are hard to hide. As they dance around the issues, Harper has to decide. Does she let her sister rule her life, or does she follow her heart?

This is an off limits romance between Harper and her sister's ex, Brooks. These flawed but likeable characters and the unique plot make for an interesting read. It is a love story with drama and steam, sexual tension and chemistry, and twists and turns, plus appealing secondary characters. A page turner.
