omg I was not prepared for this book!! I was not prepared for Henri and I was definitely not prepared to love Cort so much after the first book.

Cort has grown, while I missed a part of his journey since this book takes place about a year and some months after the end of book 1 I in no way missed the hard work and discipline and the humility that Cort now operates from. And it sort of tugged at my heart strings. He felt dampened hesitant from the loud full of life boy in book 1 and that made me a bit sad. But he’s coming into his own and his growing pains while far more acute than the norm are his own and he definitely owns them. It gives him a grounded place as we see the story progress he finds himself and learns to accept himself. I loved and appreciated his turmoil around his faith and family and I think Holland handles that exceptionally well.

Henri also needed to grow and th author did not make it easy for him. But his character at it’s core is one with integrity and compassion and that serves him well in his journey.

These two are absolutely fantastic together, resistant of naming thier connection yet drawn closer and closer. Holland has a lovely way of writing sweet love, swoony love in a very realistic way. I wanted to spend more time with them

There are multiple plot lines, some suspense and mystery, a very satisfying comeuppance for LG and lovely found family.

If you’re craving a hockey romance with stellar character development and swoony romance read this book

Cort’s story arrived early on my Kindle, and I dropped EVERYTHING to read it.

You might know I love it when a character has some personal growth to do. When we got introduced to Cort in Beauty and the Basher, I just knew I wanted to know more about him and his backstory. I did miss a little more information about what happened between the situation in book one and this book, but apart from that, it was incredible to read how much he grows as a person.

And Henri… at first glance, I wasn’t sold on him. He feels like the kind of person who would do everything for his career, and I was proven right, until a certain point. Because deep down, he’s just a guy who wants to please the people around him and make sure everyone is happy and safe, to the point that he doesn’t realize he’s being used for his empathy.

What I love so much about this author is that the “drama” never involves the couple or their connection. It’s always the outside world that disturbs the peace and makes it hard for them to be together. And that’s exactly how I like my books. It makes you want to devour them until the very end and all the mystery and problems get solved

I can’t wait to see who’s next in line to get a story!

Thank you @kenthollandwrites for the digital copy to review!

Full disclosure, as soon as I finished Beauty and the Basher, I slid into Kent’s DMs saying how much I loved Cort and I hoped he’d get a redemption story. He told me to stay tuned and reader… he delivered.

This was *everything* I wanted for Cort. Being tested. Learning from his mistakes. Growth. A beautiful journey of discovery for his sexuality. Realizing he pushed it down due to faith? Been there bb.

And Henri! That sweet boy. Just trying his best to not ruffle any feathers and he fell for Cort just as hard as Cort fell for him. Y’all. That locker room scene? 👀👀👀Their first kiss 😮‍💨😮‍💨😮‍💨 I was dyingggg inside. So cute and hot!! And they were so good together and for each other. And the spice didn’t let me down!!!

Their relationship growth was so good. I loved seeing Cort and Henri work on themselves individually and by the end I was squealing. Also loved seeing Bash!

My love for this book can be summed up in one quote: “You are learning about love, and if you have really found someone that you love, then that is nothing to be ashamed of. Love him, and let him love you, and it is up to them to see that love or not. If they see it, that is good for them. I pity the people who look at two people in love and cannot see it for the beauty that it is.”

So yeah… read this!!! So good.

A great redemption/comeback story. If you’re looking for something light hearted but still spicy, this is for you. There’s a perfect amount of drama in the story outside of the main relationship and watching Cort & Henri navigate that was endearing. I’m a big fan of how Kent Holland writes love confessions.
