The Baddest Witch: A Cozy Witchy Romance

Rate this book
I have always been perfectly capable.

I pay my bills, I have my life together, and I occasionally remember I have a gym membership. Just do not ask me to light a candle with magic, because when it comes to being a witch, I am a dud.

So when my grandmother leaves me a crumbling Victorian mansion and a dusty curiosity shop in Ruby Springs, I arrive with a fix it, sell it, and go back to my very normal, very non-magical life.

Ruby Springs has other ideas.

The water runs red. The town is full of supernatural gossips. Even the cat in my shop has opinions. The longer I stay, the less my magic misfires and the more it feels like it is waking up.

As if my life needed a plot twist, three men step in and are hell-bent on convincing me to stay.
A wolf who steadies me.
A warlock who insists on helping me understand my magic.
A fae historian who looks at me like he already knows the ending to our story.
They do not see a failed witch.
They see something inevitable.

I came to Ruby Springs believing I was the weakest in my family line. Now I am starting to suspect someone worked very hard to make sure I believed that.

Ruby Springs was supposed to be temporary, but it feels like home, and home is not something you walk away from.
It is time to find out exactly what kind of witch I am.
Not the worst, but the baddest.

The Baddest Witch is a Cozy Paranormal Why-Choose Romance featuring one heroine, three love interests, magical mystery, low angst, lots of steam, and a guaranteed happily ever after.

Thank you Dreia for the early copy

After inheriting a mansion and shop, Keisha returns to a hometown she’s never known. As a magic-less witch she doesn’t think the town can offer her much, but she soon sees herself falling in love with the town and people and discovering more about herself

🩷Why choose
🌹Opinionated familiar
🩷Magical house
🌹Supernatural small town
🩷Suppressed magic
🌹Unwitting savior

‘My Wizard. My Fae. My Wolf. Three men standing in my shop because they have decided to be and I’m truly grateful for the places they’ve claimed in my heart.’

That house yall 🙌🏾 what I would give for a house that keeps unwanted visitors at bay 🙅🏾‍♀️

Listen sometimes you just need a book that will make you feel good and not take you through the wringer lol 😅 this gave fall, curl up next to the fireplace vibes and I loved it 💕Keisha and her men were so good and supportive to each other

But small towns are funny to me because not yall beefing over pastries 🥐 😂

As cozy as this is though my heart went out to Keisha as she battled with pressure and feelings of inadequacy

If found family and a chosen one theme sounds like a good time then check this one out

‘ he leans in and claims my mouth with a kiss that feels like coming home and falling apart all at once. ‘

I absolutely loved this book! Ruby Springs is the kind of magical small town that immediately draws you in, and I found myself just as invested in the town and its quirky residents as I was in the story itself. Keisha was a wonderful heroine to follow. Her struggles with feeling like a failed witch made her relatable, and it was so satisfying to watch her slowly uncover the truth about her magic and herself. The mystery surrounding her family kept me turning the pages, and I loved seeing her confidence grow. The romance was equally enjoyable. Maceo, Ezra, and Lucien each brought something different to the story, and I appreciated how supportive they were of Keisha throughout her journey. With magic, mystery, found family, and plenty of steam, this was a fun and cozy read that left me excited for more from Ruby Springs!

Welcome to ruby springs where everything is protected......or is it?

This book builds comfortably, its not rushed or lacking and is in a single POV, the fmc's. It is very different from dreia's usual writing and she has done amazing. I really enjoyed this story and following keisha's journey.

Keisha is strong, funny, self-aware and comes with her own insecurities. She is very likable and relatable.
The guys are so nice and supportive, something we all wish we could have. They are patient, loving and understanding, perfect for this cosy read.

I must say thorne manor is brilliant, i want a house like that. Plus a talking cat! Sir is everything you would think a cat would be ....sassy, judgemental and totally the boss!

I would love to see more in this world, it has so much potential and I cant wait to see what more ruby springs has to offer.

Ruby Springs is more complicated than it seems, this comfy PNR is outstanding. Keisha has always known of the supernatural but been on the outside looking in. From the very beginning you can tell that Keisha is a strong FMC because she battles a literal storm just to get to Ruby Springs. Thankfully she is rewarded by being rescued by three steamy worth men. I love when we met Keisha's familiar Sir and get introduced to Thorne Manor. Gives Charmed vibes but we also quickly learn about Keisha's aunt Lenora who is so green with envy she's been sabotaging more than we can imagine. I love that this was standalone, so we got Keisha's complete story and all of our questions get answered.

What a great read this was! Keisha was such a strong woman, thoughtful and caring too, she may not have had her rightful powers but that never stopped her from being the best she could be. I loved the way the guys all stepped up for her, doing everything they could to help her step into her birthright.

This was a really fun cosy read and a fab palate cleanser if you’re looking for a low low angst romance. Keisha is really likeable and I love the sounds of ruby springs too. The men are all fab in their on way and as a group. Loved it.

This was such a sweet and cozy read. All the characters are stellar. I adore them all. And A talking cat, a house with a WHOLE LOT OF PERSONALITY, and men who would do anything for our heroine make things perfect sweet and cozy read.

This story was everything I love in a cozy paranormal romance and more. From the very beginning, I was drawn into the world filled with magic, heart, and characters who felt incredibly real. I mean, a town with a magical, almost sentient spring that’s literally a different color, because; magic? What more could put you in awe of the town. However, What stood out most was the character development, particularly for Keisha. watching her grow into her power, learn to trust herself, and discover her place in the world was both inspiring and deeply satisfying. I also loved how genuinely relatable she was. The self doubt, worrying she wasn’t good enough/imposter syndrome, and always feeling like she had to do everything on her own, even when help is offered.
This story perfectly captures that rare feeling of finally finding where you belong. The friendships, relationships, and sense of community created a warm, welcoming atmosphere that made me never want to leave. Every interaction felt meaningful, and the found-family elements gave the book so much emotional depth. Especially with the little additions of Maceos pack essentially adopting Keisha in from the start. The immediate acceptance just because of who she was to Maceo was heartwarming.
Don’t even get me started on a certain Fae who dropped a truth bomb that all but makes your heart explode. Forever is a long time, and he was a patient man. I’m not crying, you are!
It’s also due to her friends though. Toni and Lin, and then Bea and even Zane, they all rallied around Keisha with no expectations or motives. They just accepted her from the very beginning, and folded her into their lives as if she had always been there. As if she belonged.
The cozy vibes were *checs kiss*. Whether it was the magical setting, the charming cast of characters, or the gentle moments of connection woven throughout the story, this book felt like wrapping up in a soft blanket with a cup of tea(or coffee, if you’re me). Even with the magic and adventure, the heart of the story was about acceptance, growth, and finding your people.

I loved everything about this story

Dreia Wells continues to be one of the best world building storytellers there is(in my opinion). Her strength is not just in creating characters who feel real and relatable in what should be an un relatable realm (A magic town with a literal ruby spring running through it??), but in creating a world that feels less like you’re reading words on a page, and more like you’re watching a film unfold in your mind.
I loved the strength, humility, humor, and vulnerability of Keisha. Her admission of never feeling like she was enough, being uncomfortable in her body due to feeling defective, and making herself small to fit in spaces was so incredibly real. Her resilience and finding strength through genuine love & community being an aid in her accepting herself and fully being able to walk confidently in her power made my heart smile. I love the reassurance, admiration, and adoration she receives from Lucien, Maceo, and Ezra. Them loving her for simply being herself and reminding her that she is and has always been enough.
The sex scenes were… Whew! 🥵 Dreia NEVER disappoints with those!
Ruby Springs is a town full of stories I look forward to reading more about. I can’t wait to read more about Bea, “The Realest Witch” and I absolutely subscribed to read Sir’s book(he was hilarious from start to finish).
Read this book if you’re into romantasy - you will NOT be disappointed.

Cozy and Hilarious

Even though this story sweet it still has plenty of issues to sink your teeth into. Keisha is a joy to read and instantly likeable. So are the other characters we meet. I'm also glad that the author gave us pretty good physical descriptions of everyone. It's always been a small issue I've had with many of their stories. The setting and bits of lore are digestible without being overwhelming. Keisha learning about this side of herself doubles well for some instances of exposition for the reader.

The love interests are sweet and well defined. It's not super spicy, as must focus on Keisha coming into her powers and struggling with self worth, but what's there is quite nice. I was a little disappointed there wasn't much action on page between the guys, but I was heartened by the obvious casual affection and more that we don't see. The foursome fit quite nicely together within the larger family of Ruby Springs.

I instantly guessed which character might get a follow-up early on in the story and feel pretty vindicated. 😂 I wonder where the antagonists ended up. I also wonder how Keisha talked about what happened with her parents...

I hope to see more in this universe. It was so funny and Sir was my favorite character, second to Keisha! 🖤🙌🏾

This is my first book from Dreia Wells. I really like it. It such a warm, funny, and well written book.

Spoiler.....

I love our FMC and our 3 MMCs. Major plus for me is our FMC Keisha is in her mid-30s. We don't get alot of book with a mature fmc so this refreshing. Our MMCs are also a delicious bunch and the fit well with Keisha. Keisha has always thought she had no magic until she inherited her grandmother's property in a secretly hidden town where she discovered her magic isn't as hidden as she was to believe.

I like the pace of the story. It's a medium pace and the story just seems to flow. It give time for Keisha and her men to develop their relationship and find the mystery of her magic. It does get spicy, which is a major plus. ;)

I think my favorite is Sir, the cat aka Keisha's familiar. He's sarcastic and smart. There's only thing that saddens me is it's only in Keisha's pov. It's not bad but im used to reading multiple POVs that it feels different that I don't get everyone's perspective.

The Baddest! 🔮

It’s not even summer yet, and this book has me ready to light candles and decorate for fall!

This was such a cozy, magical read with plenty of charm and just the right amount of heat. When Keisha travels to the enchanted town of Ruby Springs to claim a mysterious inheritance, she embarks on a journey to reclaim her power, both literally and figuratively, while uncovering long-buried family secrets.

And my sis so bad that she has a wizard, a fae, and a wolf who cant get enough of her. But we don't choose over here, we accept them all! If you enjoy witches and the why choose trope then this low angst, high vibes, magical small-town, cozy paranormal romance is for you.

This was such an enjoyable story to read and I loved how i felt like I was really in Ruby Springs. It was well written and i could see my self living in a place like this. With lovey characters Toni, Lin and Bea who just make you feel at home. Sir the Thorne Familiar who can be very opinionated but you'll just fall in love with him anyway. And i loved how Keisha confidence grew as she learnt about the town and discovered she's not alown and she'll meet Lucien, Ezra and Maceo who'll help her face everything that's thrown in her way especially when she has a not so nice aunt Sophia to deal with. There's going to be pleanty for drama, spice and definitely a lot of danger towards the end but i loved how this story ended and hope we get to read more.

This was a fun magical PNR story. Keisha was raised knowing about magic but not feeling like she had any, despite her magical family. Upon her grandmother’s death, Keisha inherited her house and shop in the small town of Ruby Springs. After some car trouble on the way, she’s picked up my Maceo, Ezra, and Lucien. What she finds when they finally arrive in town is her magical house and her family’s familiar, a cat named Sir. She discovers why she’s never had any magic, and, together, they all work to unlock Keisha’s magic. A bit of a slow burn, but the spice is yummy. Keisha thought she would just fix things up and sell, but she found herself and her “home.” Loved it!!!

This book was absolutely the break that I needed in my reading history. It’s been a lot of dark romance for me lately and this was the breath of fresh air that I needed. I love quirky small-town romance and throw it aside of why choose and paranormal and this book was right up my alley. I’ll tell you what, that house seems like it would be right up my alley too. This book had me cackling and giggling, the perfect cozy romance…and Sir is perfection. I could not get enough of this world but the author wrapped up everything nicely without leaving me feeling like it was rushed. Can’t wait to see what the author gives us next.

Destiny will find you

Keisha's journey of self discovery was not easy, but there was never a dull moment. Between Sir, random magically occurrences and the eye candy that was eyeing her there is much fun to be had.
The Author, Dreia Wells, is descriptive in painting a picture of this unique town in beauty and personality. Magic weaves itself easily through the pages. I thoroughly enjoy uncovering the mystery of Keisha's journey and appreciate the various magical elements that brought it together.
Her love interests were a delight to unravel.
I would definitely recommend this book.

The story is about Keisha and her inheritance of a house and shop that was her grandmother’s. The story is a fun read. It has a lot of fun moments with Keisha and the guys as she navigates through learning about her grandmother’s legacy. The story has a bit of drama and mystery. I would have loved to see the guys point of view at times but is definitely not a turn off to have only the one point of view. The story is extremely well written and developed. I loved the side characters and their interactions with Keisha. The story is definitely a fantastic read that doesn’t disappoint.

Magical

I love a small town romance. Add in magic, with a slow burn storyline, and a why choose bonus, and I'm there. The Best Baddest Witch has all those things and more.

Keisha (the FMC) showcases that feeling of not being enough. It takes a trip back to Ruby Spring, where she might discover more than just her inheritance. A wolf, a fae, and a wizard are more than willing to help her in her journey and protecting their town.

Cute, charming, and that cozy feel that makes you want to drive in. I enjoyed getting to know this world and characters from this author.

I absolutely adored The Baddest Witch! This was such a cute and entertaining read from beginning to end. I loved the fantasy elements and the magical atmosphere the author created. The house was one of my favorite parts—it had so much charm—and the little familiar completely stole the show with its hilarious personality.

The story kept me engaged the whole way through, and there were a couple of twists that caught me by surprise, which made it even more enjoyable. It was fun, cozy, magical, and full of heart. If you’re looking for a light fantasy with lovable characters and plenty of charm, I definitely recommend giving this one a read!

Loved this cozy witchy romance story. It’s why choose as well which is my top favorite. Love how she’s a witch but bad at it. She inherited a shop. She’s planning on fixing it up and selling it. That is until 3 love interest show up. A wolf, wizard and a fae historian. The wizard is going to help her with her magic. The wolf steadies her in a way she didn’t think possible. Her fae historian seems to know the ending to their story already. Will they uncover the mystery of her not so stellar powers? Will she stay in Ruby Springs?

This was such a good read. It was exactly what I needed to read without realizing it! A cozy read with a unique FMC, A RH with diverse love interests with plenty of spice and steam, a very unique town with very unique individuals and a HEA! This was well written, well paced and really enjoyable. The world building was done quite well and the characters were phenomenal. I read this in one sitting and while I enjoyed every single page, I was sad to be done! I always look forward to more amazing reads by this authour!

You can really feel how special this book is to the author. Like she poured a little more of herself into it than normal.
Keisha is incredible relatable, kind and funny—but with plenty of insecurities. I saw a lot of myself in her, and it really helped me connect to the story!
The entire cast of characters was stellar. A talking cat, a house with a WHOLE LOT OF PERSONALITY, and men who would do anything for our heroine!
This is just the perfect cozy read, so sweet and heartfelt!

This story pulled me in immediately. This book starts with some unfortunate events that lead to the FMC meeting 3 ridiculously handsome men. Men who seem to know more about her situation than she does. I loved how the author described Ruby springs I could visualize it all so beautifully. The quaint town, the people, the men who are there without asking for anything in return. This was such a cozy read and I wish I could go back and re-read it like the first time again.

Keisha returns home to inherit a business and a mansion. Although she is hesitant at first I enjoyed watching her fall for the magical town and its wonderful inhabitants.

The plot kept me intrigued throughout and I loved seeing Keisha discover her families secrets and grow throughout the story.

If you like any of the following, I'd recommend giving this a go...

- found family
- magic
- mystery & intrigue
- why choose
- talking familiar
- small town

This was a good slow burn paranormal why choose romance. I really enjoyed the story, it had plenty to keep me interested with the storyline of the suppressed magic and the scheming Aunt and I enjoyed how well the characters were written both the main characters and the rest of the town. Special shout out to Sir the cat familiar who was comedy gold with his sarcasm throughout, a real favourite for me.
Great for fans of paranormal romance and witchy romance.

cozy is the right word for this!

Oh my gosh I loved this book. I was tired of the insta love falling all over each other immediately… you’re half way through the book, a true relationship building between the main characters. As Kiki (love that nickname) claims her inheritance and learns of old deceptions, her romantic relationships develop and well I just swooned through the entire book!!!

After her powers were locked down unbeknownst to her parents FMC returned to Ruby Springs to her inheritance. The town was welcoming and she begins to learn more about her heritage with the help of her familiar, a wolf shifter, warlock and a Fae. This is a wonderful slow burn RH. Major plus - no cliffhanger.

I enjoyed reading this cozy book about Keisha a witch who believes she has no magic, but things are not as she believes. She has a sassy kitty familiar who can talk and is very opinionated and she has an amazing manor. I need a house like that. She also has one or three gentlemen that want to help her in more ways than one. I can’t wait to read another book by Daria Wells.
