[Siren Everlasting Classic ManLove: Erotic Alternative Romance, M/M, HEA]
Top tracker Rock Morrison travels from Alaska to interview with Rescue for Hire. Short and wiry, sporting long dreadlocks, tattoos, and piercings, Rock knows what he wants, and now, after meeting Brad Hayward, who he wants.
Brad Hayward may be tall, muscled, and an all-American blond. But losing his children in a tragic event, and an overbearing mother, has left him a shell of a man. Rock takes him away to heal and discover the joys of two men being together. Life starts looking up for Brad until his mother shows up with vile threats and brain-numbing demands.
Rock has his hands full on his first mission finding a missing dementia-afflicted old man, confronting Brad’s mother, and tracking down an on-the-run Brad. Not all take-charge bad boys are tall and muscled. Not all battered souls are twinks. But with the Rescue for Hire men, it’s always a fun ride as their love conquers all.
Bellann Summer lives in the middle of nowhere with her husband and children surrounded by lakes and woods. In the summer Bellann enjoys fishing, camping, gardening and growing flowers. Autumn is spent out in the woods exploring the beautiful colors and nature at its finest. In the winter there is ice fishing, snowmobiling and sitting in front of the wood fireplace. She has always loved to read and any free time is spent with a book in her hand. When major life changes occurred, she decided to try writing what she liked to read. And it worked.
If you've been reading this series, then the surname Hayward shouldn't come as a surprise. It belongs to Pip, Jack's husband, and Tyler, the pro baseball player who had Tony as his dirty little secret for a year, and then there's Mother, and she's a doozy. 'Brad's Rock' is book seven in the series and I was eagerly anticipating the Rescue for Hire family dealing with her once and for all.
Brad listened to his mother when she said they were having the neighbors over for dinner and they had a lovely daughter. Brad and Tracy ended up in a sham marriage, for thirteen years with three kids. Tracy had finally gotten the courage to file for divorce with Brad in full agreement, when a freak accident caused by utility workers ended Tracy and the children's lives. Brad has spent the last year living in a hotel drinking. When his mother calls with an invitation to dinner with the neighbors and their lovely daughter who just moved home after a divorce with her three boys, Brad is terrified and runs straight to his brother Pip and the opportunity to live again.
Rock is five foot eight and one quarter, has piercings, full tattoo sleeves, and dreadlocks. He's also an excellent tracker whom Cade has called to interview as Alex's hip has gotten more unstable over the years and he's going to need to switch positions within the company. Unfortunately, a couple of days before Rock arrives, Alex is shot in the upper thigh, the team almost loses him, and as is the way with the "family" the entire team is at the hospital and will stay there until Alex can be brought home. This leaves Rock staying at Cade's house with Brad.
Brad can’t stay at Jack and Pip's home. Their three-year-old girls bring back way too many memories, so Cade asks if he can stay at their house with the new potential recruit coming in. Brad has no idea his life is going to change so exquisitely. Brad is Rock's nightly dream. Rock may be small in stature but he's got a dominating personality and while Brad is bigger, physically, he's also a touch submissive. Rock is determined to see where this leads.
Another excellent addition to the series. I enjoyed watching Rock and Brad fall in love. I'm thrilled that Brad's siblings and his dad, along with Rescue for Hire, took care of his mother although I would have really enjoyed seeing that drama. However, Brad finally got the happiness he's always deserved with Rock. Can't wait for more!

Book 7), and I think there is more in this "Rescue for Hire" series. Next is "Rescue for Hire West". Here we have Brad, veterinarian and Rock, newly hired tracker with his dog, Lily, who will replace injured Alex.
Deep thought-filled richly woven characters are in every story, so I recommend reading them in order, but they could stand alone. A lot happens in this short story, so be ready for rescues, understanding, secrets revealed, acceptance, closure, the brotherhood against the evil mother who wants to ruin lives, and new found true love.
Brad's mom has ruined his life enough, then had to deal with losing his family, and trying to pull himself together to move forward. Rock is offbeat and amazing for Brad. Together they hope to forge on.
There is an interesting search for an elderly man with dementia. This series is full of action and excitement, the stories are short, maybe 1 1/2 hours each. I liked Rock and Brad, plus seeing the other guys and the progress they've made.
Jeez, it sucks when you are reading a series only to realize that parts of it continue in spin-off series that you should have veered into before picking up the next in line.
Anyway. It was a story. Or actually two of them in one. This author just loves to put her characters through physical hell. ^^; No one is safe, especially not previous protagonists. On one hand it’s good that injuries in this series do have serious consequences; on the other hand it does get a bit depressing after a while. Still, everything ends well, as always.
I started by stating this was a story. This is semi-important to note because the first five or so books of this series felt more like a summary with a few scenes, most of them sex-related or heroic or delivering on the caretaking fetish. We still do get all of that to an extent, but cleaning up viewpoints and possibly added writing experience has definitely improved the overall storytelling.
That being said, this still isn’t brilliant or anything. I wasn’t too happy here with the dual storylines and would have preferred to focus on the titular pairing. Also, Alaska seems quite far away (not to mention harsh) to provincial little me to just go there for quick, unprepared trips.
Perhaps the biggest issue, though, is how everyone seems to be ignoring the elephant in the room. Brad’s kids died. And he was not just a weekend or holiday father, he spent time with them every day, clearly was deeply involved in their lives. And then they’re suddenly, tragically, horrifically gone. And not only does no one talk to him about them, maybe help him remember the good or something (I know that is easier said than done but entirely skirting the issue is doing more harm than good), but apparently his family also let him stew all by himself for a whole year in a hotel room. That’s not how you treat someone who lost everything. Someone who lost three children in a horrible accident. This is the kind of situation that warrants a suicide watch, not taking off and leaving him to fall victim to his depression. Seriously. And we’re expected to believe that Brian and Tyler specifically are caring people. Not seeing it in this regard.
Oh well, this ends the Hayward brothers saga (the second instalment of which I haven’t read yet because of the silliness of spin-off series; I am really beginning to hate how difficult they make it to keep track of an overall chronology) with the wicked witch being defeated. Um, yay? She only ever appeared briefly or in retrospect so I never built her up that much into a threat. We also get to meet a clear future protagonist who will likely be Haunted by Memories of the Bad Things he Had To Do. Maybe his story will even begin with him having to be rescued after being horribly maimed. With this author? That’s a distinct possibility.
I’ll probably pick up one of the spin-off series next. Don’t know. This has now become something completely safe and simple and badly edited I can snack on when my emotional state is frail. An improvement from my reaction to book one!

He decide to go to Granite City. when he arrives he is told that a team mate was injury and they were at the hospital. When Rock meets Brad he see someone that is hiding and hurting, and he knows he is the one to help Brad. Rock ask Brad to go with him back to Alaska to pack up and to pick up Lily his bloodhound. there their relationship takes a turn while on the way back. While Rock is away on a mission Brad Mother tracks him done at his job and threaten him. Rock knows that he must make a stand against Brad mother or their will be no way Brad can escape her. We see what Alex must decide for his future after his injury. There is no time like the present to pick it up, If you are new to the series. This is a must read book and awesome series.
OVERALL IMPRESSION OF THE BOOK: A must read series, the books just keep getting better. A MUST READ
So the last brother of Brian and Tyler in the family with the crazy mom finally got his happy ending. Brad is an alcoholic who lost his wife and 3 children to a terrible accident. He has spent the last year drunk And miserable. Rock is a tracker and a new hire for Rescue for Hire. They hit it off immediately and the rest we already know. What I didn't like was the fact that Brad is an alcoholic but he is able to give it up in one day without any relapses. Not even any near relapses. It felt unrealistic to me. I also wish Rock had been even more Dominant with Brad. He said he was The Dominant type but it didn't really come off that way. I think Brad needed a stronger hand.
Brad’s pain was palpable. Rock’s dominance spoke to Brad in a way that made me want my own Rock :) Again loved this installment. it was nice seeing the mother being put in her place finally by the family. i wonder if that is the last we hear from her. I can't imagine her giving up that easy. I liked that the author had Brad deal with his loss in a way that people can relate and you could feel the pain. Definiyely enjoyed the updates of the entire family and seeing how they were growing.
Approx 88 pages of story. Brad and Rock story. Good read. Can I just say oh I LOATHE the Hayward Children's Mother, what a horrible, horrible woman. Crazy Angle Ranch, Rescue for Hire, Granite County and Rescue for Hire West are all connected.
I know I read this, but I never left a review for it. I'm going to throw a 3 up there, because I remember somewhat liking it. I just don't remember details. :(
