Between the Testaments: A Quick-But-Comprehensive Guide to What's Really On that Middle Page

Rate this book
Who were the Pharisees? Why did the Sadducees not believe in the resurrection? How did Israel become a territory of Rome? Have you ever wondered about these questions? I have, and I would be willing to bet that the majority of Christians have too. But for the most part, we’ve just come to accept these facts as history without giving any thought to their impact on the New Testament. It can’t be overstated enough that Jesus and the Apostles lived in a drastically different time than us, culturally speaking. They wore different clothes, spoke a different language, and the history that they knew of didn’t include a World War 1 or 2. Yet they were still humans, and as such, were impacted by what their predecessors did or did not do, just as our history as Americans is founded on the actions of men such as George Washington, Abraham Lincoln and Mickey Mantle (or Carl Yastrzemski if you’re of the true flock). If we are to understand the world in which the New Testament was written, that blank page separating it from the Old must be more understood as well. This study will seek to achieve that purpose, and while not nearly fully exhaustive in it’s approach to the subject, should provide an introductory course of it’s most basic concepts.
