I actually love books like this, books that are written for a younger audience. I read another review where she was annoyed by the word play but she acknowledged that it probably wouldn't annoy a younger audience but I'm the exact opposite of that, I'm a reluctant grown up and I actually enjoy the YA writing. In this case I feel like it's maybe just below YA like really YA, middle school age or so. It reminds me of another series called Fablehaven, not in the story but in the style of writing. I really enjoyed it and I'm glad I won it in Giveaway's.

I thoroughly enjoyed this series. I thought that this book did a good job of pulling together all of the pieces that had been introduced in the first two books. The ending is pretty satisfying, though I wanted just a little more of the after part. And I was annoyed that it ended on a sort of cliffhanger as though promoting a to-come prequel. But overall, I loved the growth of the characters, the introduction of new creatures, and the development of the story.

Wonder if there will be a prequel series about the Hiding War and Darel's kulipari father. Had fun reading these to the kiddos.

This is the 3rd & final (?) volume in the Kulipari trilogy. I have to be honest: this is a flawed series, mostly but its truly awful puns & wordplay. But is is written for a younger audience that might be amused by that rather than annoyed. This final volume does have a genuinely thrilling & suspenseful ending. On the whole, the series comes off better visually than literarily, so it makes sense Netflix is releasing an animated version ("Kulipari: An Army of Frogs) in September.
