Money Shot

Finn

When my sister moves from Chicago to Edmonton to get married, I take the opportunity to follow her. My life has become a lonely existence, only ever having time for work. The closest thing I have to a relationship is a one-sided affair with Gunner–the hottest cam boy on the app Money Shot.

This move will be good. It will allow me to slow down and sort out my priorities. Maybe I’ll even have time for a real relationship with someone in person.

The problem with that is, the only person to catch my eye in Canada is the commitment-phobe best man. There’s something familiar in the way Curtis moves. In his smile. Every interaction we have convinces me I know him from somewhere. When it clicks, it takes way too long to admit that Curtis and my favorite cam boy might be the same person. What are the actual chances my dream man is about to be my sister’s new brother-in-law?

The last thing I want is for Curtis to think I’m a creep, so I decide to unsubscribe, only it’s harder than I thought it would be. Getting to know Curtis in real life, and Gunner online, has made things murky, and the smart choice is to cut things off and pretend like it never happened.

But I never said I was smart.

Maybe I’m the problem. I expect too much of a partner, so none of them will ever live up to it.

This was pretty stinking cute! I had to read it because it's set in Alberta, Canada, and it was only mildly weird that there's a somewhat famous real-life adult content creator from Edmonton ... I'm not a big fan of his so I had to try not to accidentally imagine hot, tattooed and pierced content-creator Curtis as the real life guy (who is also heavily tattooed and pierced 🫣).
We get tall, shy and bumbling Finn who's a relationship guy through and through and Curtis, who vows he'll never be in a relationship. Opposites attract as the two have an instant, really intense physical attraction. Finn's been watching Curtis's content for years and he's basically been programmed to react when he hears his voice. The book was an easy, humorous and low-angst read.
“I’ll always be your number one fan.” I swipe my thumb over his jaw. “Have been since before we even met.”
“And if it wasn’t for you, I wouldn’t have it in me to try again.”
“What do I have to do with it?”
“You’re proof that if I put myself out there, good things happen.”

I loved the "Ewww David" Schitt's Creek reference, the way the characters slowly fell for each other, and the scene where Finn stood up for Curtis when his blind date started making creepy comments about Curtis filming porn. Curtis is a nurse, and his bonus mom Beth has Alzheimer's, and I found the portrayal of his career and her disease very realistic and moving. Part of what sets Eden's writing apart for me is how she can craft characters who feel so real and rooted in their backstories. The only unrealistic part was how often traffic was mentioned... Edmonton doesn't really have traffic issues lol. It has rush hour, sure, but nothing like the major US or international cities.
I had very few real issues with the book. It was super enjoyable overall. Curtis's friends subscribing to his channel without him knowing weirded me out a bit... I don't know how I feel about that but it feels like it's crossing a line way past being supportive 😅😅. The book also wasn't as spicy as I expected. The scenes they film together are necessarily technical because they have to mention camera angles and lighting, etc... to feel realistic. The off-camera moments also felt a bit overly descriptive in terms of prep rather than them being in the moment and enjoying themselves. Very minor things in a book I quite liked 💜

I HAVE SMUT BURN OUT SO BAD.

And before you think "Chelsea why would you pick up a book about a camboy if you have smut burn out?" I DIDN'T KNOW UNTIL I WAS LIKE 45% IN AND HAD ALREADY COMMITTED. 😭😭

I just think I've overdone it, and gorged myself on smutty nonsense lately.
Everytime a peen was making an appearance during this book, my brain goes "put that fkn thing away🙄🙄"

Also, this feels contradictory of my own personality, but parts of this book felt extraordinarily crass? or like... sexually aggressive to the point it felt kinda gross to me.......
I'm all about sex and sex positivity but like.... the "hole stretching" and "split me open on his cock" stuff just felt really over the top and unnecessary sometimes?

I think my smut burn out is to blame.
How does one cure this? 😭

Finn is 32 and a nurse. He got burned out with his job, always putting in extra hours because there was always a need for extra nurse coverage. He hasn't had much of a social life in the last few years, he's been pulling away from his friends because of work. His sister Mel is moving to Canada because her fiance wants to come back home to be there for his mother who has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's and needs care. Finn decides to move to Canada too, because he wants to be close to his sister, but also he really needs a change professionally and socially. He's trying to find a job that will make him feel fulfilled, but won't become the absolute drain on his life that his past job was. One of the few pleasures that he's had over the last year for himself has been watching the videos of his favorite camboy, Gunner, who performs solo and is really interactive, who talks to his viewers as if they are his lover, giving a real personal experience.

Curtis is a little bit younger than Finn. He is the best friend and surrogate brother to David, Mel's fiance. He's a graphic artist and aspiring artist / author. He's afraid of failing at something really important to him, afraid of being vulnerable by showing his writing/creation. He's been working as a camboy under the name Gunner to make a living well he's in this zone of running away from his greater aspirations, and he's been doing really well.

Finn is shocked when he realizes that Curtis is the camboy he's been lusting over. Half of the book is full of the tension of them both wanting each other, but not wanting to get together because if they didn't make it as a couple it would be really messy for David and Melanie and everyone. Curtis didn't want a relationship. That first 50% is brimming with longing and build up of sexual and emotional tension as there's so much chemistry between them and they want it so bad but they're fighting themselves. Top tier! Then in a vulnerable moment, they make excuses to let themselves be together but to keep it professional, to film together, have rules. And yeah, that's going to blow up in their faces, they're both feeling too deep about each other.

This was a really good book. I loved that first 50% where they were getting to know each other and fighting so hard against the sexual attraction and emotional attachment that was growing between them. It was so well written, the emotion was so natural between them, the characterization was built up so well - that time just zoomed by and we got to know them so viscerally in such a natural way. That's not to say I didn't love the rest of the book, I did love the rest of the book, I'm just giving feedback on that era of their relationship! The next era of their relationship was when they started hooking up for filming purposes, and that was good too, there was so much steam between them and emotion was always creeping in, there was always this vulnerability that they showed each other, there was trust and support between them as they dealt with Beth's Alzheimer's and the challenges of the wedding. They broke up for a couple days because they had to confront that their relationship was moving from professional to real, and Curtis wasn't ready for that. There was a satisfying coming back together.

I enjoyed the friend and family dynamics. The friend group was really supportive but also called them on their s***. There was a bunch of hilarious moments and also really deep emotional moments where you could see why they were so good for each other. These guys were both really good people and a good match for each other, Finn was the golden retriever that Curtis needed. And Curtis was really everything that Finn wanted.

Some notable moments:

"“We should probably go back in.” I nod but gesture to my groin. “I’m going to need a second.” His strangled laugh is oddly attractive. “Tell me one thing first.” Then he holds up both pointer fingers an inch apart and slowly moves them away from each other. “Tell me when.” It’s too hard to judge from here, but I humor him. “About there.” “Damn, okay.” He looks between his fingers, and his appreciation spurs me on. “That’s not the best part though.” Then I make a circle with my fingers, the size of my cock in my hand is basically muscle memory by this point. Curtis’s jaw drops. “Holy shit.”"

Poor Finn, he was spiralling. Hilarious. "“You … told the florist. About what you did.” “I didn’t tell her the whole story. Just that there is this guy I really like, and she asked how badly I’d fucked up, so I said out of ten, probably a twelve, and then she asked me what type of guy you were and whether or not you’d even appreciate flowers. Long story short, after that, I might have freaked out more, and so I decided to cover all my bases. I went to Home Depot for all your power tool needs.” He grabs the bright orange bag and pulls out an … electric drill. “And then it occurred to me that, duh, you’d probably appreciate a sex toy.” He throws me a pink, nameless bag. “But then after I bought that, I thought you might see that as your job, and maybe you didn’t want a present that reminded you of that or that I was talking to you as Gunner, so I almost kept it for myself. But in for a penny, in for a pound, right?”"

"Alfie, who’s sitting opposite me, cocks his head. “You’re not sitting with …” He tries to be subtle as he nods sideways in Finn’s direction, but he practically headbutts Angie next to him. “No.” That’s all I’m going to give him. Beside me, Dolcie passes me her red wine, and I down it like a shot as I ignore the way Alfie is looking at Finn. “Does this mean I can—” I cut Alfie off before he can finish that sentence. “Touch him and fucking die.”"

*FYI about steam: I rate steam based on a combination of quality & quantity. I note kink separate from steam because I don't want to underrate steamy reads that don't have much kink.

**Note about spoilers: I like to comment on the plot of a book in reviews, so I almost always mark my reviews as containing spoilers. But I try to avoid spoiling the big dramatic moments! As a reader, I personally like to know what I'm getting into before I read a book so I know more about the content and if it's to my taste/mood, so I try to give that information in my reviews for myself when I'm considering rereading and also for other readers.

I always rely on these author's when I'm looking for a fun, lighthearted book to read, but their standalone's are always more serious in content and tone and Money Shot is similar to the vibes of The Bastard and The Heir, and Up In Flames, which I really enjoyed.

There may be mild spoilers ahead if you haven't already read the blurb and teasers for the book.

I will admit that I did not like Curtis for the longest time. I felt so protective over Finn immediately and I was mad at Curtis for being so stupid and short sighted, but also Finn kind of made his bed so I couldn't be too mad at the situation!

They definitely have good chemistry and they know they're sexually compatible but Curtis's fear of commitment and rejection was a really huge hurdle for their relationship, no matter what stage they were at. There were times when he got his 'Gunner' set up ready where I was shouting 'WTAF dude!!!' and although he does have his epiphany about his feelings for Finn, I think I needed to see a bit more of Curtis's soul searching because he didn't strike much emotional connection from me.

The situation with Curtis's surrogate mum and Alzheimer's was so incredibly sad and brought a lot of seriousness and emotional upset to the main cast of characters. In all seriousness, if you are going to be triggered by a prominent side character who has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's, this is not the book for you.

I did enjoy the wider friendship group though and it kind of had that early 2000's sitcom feel, and the whole wedding plot was fun too - the cupcakes made me giggle because I totally did that at my wedding!

I would have liked to see more of Curtis and Finn actually officially together though, because most of the book is about the push and pull between them, and Curtis refusing to let it be anything other than a business arrangement. They don't get together as an actual couple until very late in the book, and although we get a couple of chapters of them together and an epilogue, I was left wanting a bit more of them between the end of the story and the epilogue so that I could be satisfied that Curtis was definitely in it?

A very sexy camboy and a gentle giant, a little bit of hidden identity, loads of sexual tension and flirting.
Money Shot delivered exactly what a title like that promises — smut with a side of romance.

“It blows my mind that you can’t see it.” “See what?”
“How incredible you are.”

While it did touch on a couple deeper themes, Alzheimer’s and personal insecurities, it was mostly fluffiness and sexiness.
I loved Finn and his awkwardness, his genuine care and niceness. Curtis felt a little bland to me and nothing really stood out about his personality, but I loved them together and their chemistry.

The next time I upload a video, I want you to watch it knowing I’m getting off to the images of you fucking yourself on my dick.

The sexual tension of the first half was the best part, but my investment in the romance dwindled a bit after that. Still, a fun & easy read.

“I will always need you.” He kisses the top of my head. “Good. Because I’m not going anywhere.”

• Camboy and the Fanboy •

Finn moves to Canada to be close to his sister. She’s getting married and her man’s brother-like BFF Curtis looks very familiar…. Could he be Finn’s favourite solo camboy?

The answer is yes. Finn has the guilts about watching Curtis’ jerk vids so he thinks he will unsubscribe… but he decides to dm him on the app first…

Curtis, for reasons (?) does not do relationships. Finn is a sweet cinnamon roll, a total relationship guy. They have insta-chemistry and loads of cringey flirting but despite the attraction they agree to no smex (spoiler - they end up having lots of sex).

This was a silly, easy, mindless read. Not that deep.

The truth is, I didn’t care about Curtis and his relationship hangups, mostly because it was never really explained why he was so adamant against being in a relationship; he also didn’t have the best attitude and personality. Finn definitely deserved better.

Finn and Curtis 🖤

Finn was sweet. I really liked him, and I appreciated his relationship with his sister. He was so earnest, kind, and a true teddy bear of a man.

Curtis was fine, but I wish I understood him a bit better. He was so adamant against a relationship, but I wish we got to understand the why a bit more. I appreciated how David called him out a bit on his own behavior about pushing people away because it felt all so . . . Intense maybe? Like I understand how exes might not have been ok with the cam work, or a shitty ex cheating and all of that is sucky and wouldn’t feel great. But his reaction of “love is a lie, I’ll just be alone” seemed extreme.

But Finn broke down those walls, and I just was happy these two could work things out. I loved that Finn never wanted to change Curtis. He embraced him, and he even adapted outside of his own comfort to always make sure he supported Curtis. Their gentle pressure and support of each other really showed how they just wanted the best for each other.

These author duo really never disappoints 💞

Curtis is a camb0y. He uses the app Money Shot to make photos, or short clips, to earn some money. Finn happens to be one of his long-time suscribers. When Finn's sister gets married, the paths of Curtis and him cross and it doesn’t take too long until they realize they might know each other from the Money Shot platform. That's a lot to unpack, right? Well, the fun just starts with that for these two 🤭

I loved the build up of the story here, since it's something I've never really read about before and it really hooked me good.

There are some sensible topics mentioned in this story, so please be aware of that before diving into it.

I really enjoyed this one 💗

This was so unbelievably sweet and cute and oh so spicy! Lots of fun to read.

Finn has followed his sister’s move to Canada and is in the process of setting up his new life. Overall he’s a pretty happy guy, has a career in nursing that he wants to pursue, happy family and his nights are taken up by his favorite Camboy Gunner. Life is good. Until he meets his ‘hero’ and realizes all he’s been missing.

Finn and Curtis are so sweet together and I just loved their chemistry. They have some moments that truly made me laugh out loud, and then there were moments that made me tear up. I have such a soft spot for stories with sex workers. There’s usually a sense of fierceness and confidence but usually hides insecurities and vulnerabilities that are slowly revealed. This one is no exception. It’s fast burn with emotional slow burn and growth. Loved it.

Oh that was good!

Eden & Saxon's standalone books seem to always have a bit more of an edge than some of those they write for their series long collaborations and this one is no exception.

The sex worker element isn't really what tips this into being a more serious narrative though.

It's the sympathetic way in which Alzheimer's in a relatively young person is treated as a mirror to Curtis' own self-destruct mechanism for pushing away anyone who gets close to him.

This book also manages to be both insta-lust and slow burn at the same time, which takes some clever writing and how this occurs is because of the unique situation the two men find themselves in.

Finn has been a subscriber to Gunner's Money Shot account for a year, getting off big time to a man who just does something to him, even though he's never seen his face. The videos provide him with a sense of connection in what had become a pretty lonely world because of the long hours of his job as an A&E nurse.

Moving to Canada to help his sister with her wedding and find more time for himself brings a new complication in the shape of Curtis, his sister's fiancé's best friend.

The chemistry is instant but the situation of them being the best men and family puts a holt to that. Until Finn realises that Curtis is Gunner.

No spoilers, but I liked the way the secret came out and how it was handled.

The situation with David's mum, Beth, who became Curtis' adoptive mother in everything but the legal way, is heart-breaking.

Curtis feels responsible for not noticing sooner, while David was living in America with Finn's sister Mel, and his guilt is mixed in with his sense of abandonment from his parents not giving a shit either.

He drives people away and it takes a lot of hard truths and a dawning sense of self-awareness for Curtis to realise that he's risking something really special by keeping Finn at arm's length.

It's not an easy ride to happiness for these two, even while it becomes a smoking hot one as they get on cam together while Curtis maintains his emotional distance and Finn falls more for him every time.

Everything about this story worked for me, even when Curtis was doing his best to remain an emotional void, because I could see how desperately he was trying not be vulnerable again and be left with more hurt.

Finn was just the best cinnamon roll ever, but he wasn't overly perfect either. He also behaves poorly, not telling Curtis he knows that he's Gunner once he finds out. But I understood him too.

He's moved to be near his sister, and he's also dragging his feet about finding a new job and making new friends because he's also scared.

Together they're seriously steamy, but it's when they both allow their emotions in that the romance really kicks up a notch and, while I would have loved a bit more of them once they were together officially before it skipped ahead, the Epilogue does give a lovely glimpse into their future.

A low-stakes, steamy romance between a camboy and his biggest fan. This book managed to be unique and charming, with lovable characters and fantastic plot-devices!

Finn has recently moved to Alberta to be close to his sister, who is getting married soon. Finn may be a romantic, but he’s not had time for romance. This is why he loves Gunner, a camboy whose sexy videos are the highlight of his day. When Finn gets to Canada he meets his sister’s husband to be, and his family. This includes Curtis, who Finn quickly realizes is actually his favourite camboy. A tale of hidden identities, steamy messaging, and learning to be vulnerable with others ensues.

This book has:
-camboy x gentle giant
-hidden identities (‘he doesn’t know I know’ vibes) and dramatic reveals
-loves romance x has sworn off relationships
-making p*rn as an excuse to spend time together
-vers couple
-meddling family

Eden Finley and Saxon James have written an insane amount of MM romance stories, yet somehow managed to come out with yet another with uniquely lovable characters and a storyline that will have you gagged! I ate this book up FAST! It’s fast-paced, and there’s the perfect balance of suspense, feelings, steamy content, and plot!

Absolutely pick this up on November 6!

I felt like this was the result of the Eden Finley/Saxon James MM juggernaut noticing a trend in readers wanting pornstar/camboy gay romance novels and then deciding to capitalize on it without any real substance or heart. This is SO corny to say but Money Shot felt like a cash grab.

Truly don’t know how this couple will ever stay together. Zero personal development from Gunner and I also just really really hated how Finn’s feelings were essentially used to emotionally blackmail him into doing porn.

If this is your first time reading a camboy/pornstar main character, please don’t let this push you away. There are some truly AMAZING novels out there. This is not one of them.

This book was honestly a bad idea for me to pick up. Not in a fun, dramatic Olivia Rodrigo kind of way—just genuinely a bad choice on my part.

Lately, I’ve been really tired of reading smut. I skip almost every explicit scene, and recently I’ve even started avoiding books that include a lot of it altogether. So why my brain thought it was a good idea to read a book centered around a sex worker… I truly don’t know.

Of course a book like this was going to talk a lot about sex. Of course it was going to be a major part of the story. Somehow, though, I convinced myself the book would go deeper emotionally than it actually did—and I didn’t fully realize that wasn’t happening until I was already too close to the end. At that point, I just finished it anyway.

Because of that, I’m not going to rate this book. I don’t think I was in the right headspace to read it in the first place. What I can say is that I didn’t enjoy the experience.

Easy to read, fun plot and interesting characters. I had a fantastic time reading this mid-angst, spicy book about two men who are thrust together when their sister and best friend get married. This could have been just another fluffy romcom however the depth of character back-story and addition of friends and family as side characters gave this a really well-rounded story.

The premise is a camboy and his subscriber realise that they actually know each other in real life. They have to battle with their real-life friendship and their on-screen connection.

- Camboy/subscriber
- Friends with benefits to more
- Forced proximity

This book was spicy, heartfelt and enjoyable. I really hope that we get more stories from the other characters we met!

Thanks for Foreword PR for providing and ARC copy. This review is my honest opinion.

Finn and Curtis

I really enjoy when these authors write together, the flow is seamless and there are always great characters, chemistry, and a happily ever after. Money shot was good, but I had trouble not being mad at Curtis for how he kept Finn at arms length. I loved Finn to pieces, but it hurt me so watch him settle for what Curtis was willing to give him. They definitely had sizzling chemistry and some smoking hot scenes, but everytime Curtis took out the camera I was so frustrated.
I adored the friends and family group and how they were an integral part of the story. Be careful if watching a loved one with Alzheimers is a trigger as Beth's decline was portrayed in some detail throughout the book. It was handled so well, but still so sad to read about. I also really wanted more of Finn and Curtis as a couple! It was so sweet when they finally stopped the push and pull but we didn't get enough of them officially together. Overall a good read, especially for diehard fans of these authors, but just didn't fully come together for me

Saxon James and Eden Finley used to be auto-read authors for me. No hesitation, put that in my Kindle library, please and thank you. But the last several releases have been lackluster at best. I can’t tell if it’s because I’ve matured as an MM romance reader, while their stories stayed in freshman year, or if the quality has truly done a full swan dive off a cliff.

What I can say is when you’re pumping out books faster than Starbucks pumps out seasonal drinks, I can’t imagine that you have the time to invest in making each book top tier. You’re likely not spending the time each story and character deserves. And it shows. But they have the following to coast on, so hey, why slow down? Readers will show up anyway. Good for them, I guess, but rough for the rest of us who remember when either of their books and their collabs were any good.
Okay. Enough foreplay. Let’s get to my thoughts.

My number one issue with this book was Curtis. He’s such a cowardly little ball sac with the emotional resilience of a damp tissue. I spent the entire book wanting to throw him into a brick wall just to see if it jogged loose a single molecule of self-awareness. His entire personality is I don’t want to fail or be rejected, so I’m just never going to do anything of any risk ever so those things never happen. He won’t pursue his real career ambitions, won’t try in his personal life, won’t engage in a meaningful romance. He just won’t. And when his best friend points this out? He’s full on prepared to deny it. Excuse me, your whole persona is one long avoidance spiral. You’ve basically been giving us a TED Talk titled “Fear of Failure: How I Let It Ruin My Life.”

And as for why he’s like this? Presumably some devastating backstory, right? Something that would justify the emotional constipation? Well… all we know here is he’s been “treated poorly.” Look. I don’t need a Shakespearian tragedy, but give me something more than some vague hand-wave to his past that authors use when they don’t want to actually develop a backstory. “He’s traumatized, you understand, let’s not worry about the details.” Sorry, no. I would like the details. I need them to feel anything for this man besides contempt.

Finn is, fine? He’s soft and sweet. But he’s underwritten. He’s a romantic, a nurse, he moved from Chicago for family, and he’s very into Curtis for reasons the text absolutely does not justify. That’s it. That’s his dossier. So yeah, the characterization is lacking in a major way.

The plot, total structural failure. Where to even start. Finn knowing who Curtis is and not telling him? Contrived beyond comprehension. There is no reason for him not just up and say it. Finn then anonymously communicating with Curtis’s porn persona when he realizes he knows him? Wildly unnecessary. Both of them participating in porn despite Finn being deeply uncomfortable with it and risking his future career? Unhinged. Truly. The meddling friends? Cardboard cutouts. The wedding side plot? Emotionally irrelevant. The entire narrative felt like it was trying to cram every possible trope into its pages making it full of contrived BS but nothing of real substance. It all just felt so stale and didn’t work.

Next issue: the romance, and I’m using that word the way one uses the word “moist” (lightly and with visible discomfort). We never actually see a romance, because Curtis has his head lodged so far up his own ass for over 90% of the book that there’s no room for connection, let alone emotional intimacy. Now, for the record, slow burn is my bread and butter. But even in the slowest of slow burns, I want to watch the characters settle into something. I want to live the developing relationship and ensuing tension in such a visceral way that when the characters do finally get together we believe with every ounce of our body, our marrow, our soul, they belong together and there couldn’t be anyone else in the world for them.

This? None of that. Their entire connection is physical, and not even in a fun, this is building toward something way. It’s just sex orbiting a void where emotional depth should be. The so-called “emotional payoff” wasn’t there. My reader ROI was so far in the red it became maroon folks.

And don’t even get me started on the character development that waited until the epilogue to show up. The epilogue!! Are you kidding me!!?? I want to see the growth unfold through the book. If your characters stay static until the final pages, what exactly was the point of me reading the first three hundred? The entire purpose of writing a book is to let us witness the character growth and relationship development throughout the story! The authors crammed everything that should’ve organically developed over the course of the story into a rushed finale. If I wanted all the important parts squeezed into the end, I’d read spark notes, not a novel.

By the final page, I was irritated and unsatisfied that I’d invested time in two protagonists who never actually developed, a romance that was essentially nonexistent, and a plot that collapsed under its own contrivances. If this is the direction these authors are going, I think I might be tapping out for good. My patience is not infinite, and my TBR is far too long to tolerate books like this.

So good! Finn and Curtis had me completely hooked right from the start. I love camboy books and this one was both sweet and spicy. I love everything Eden and Saxon write, but this is definitely my new favorite. I definitely recommend it!

ARC Review
4.5⭐

"I'm Canadian. If it's not about hockey, it's not worth throwing fists over."

"What first made you decide to want to be a p0rn star?"
"I have ugly feet, so photos were out."

"It's hard to self-sabotage when all I want is to hold onto you forever."

The giggles I giggled while reading this book! 🤭🤭😂
I don’t usually read camboy stories, because I honestly haven’t come across many, but when I saw these two queens were writing one? I knew I had to read it—and OMG, it did not disappoint! 🤭🤭🤭

The chemistry between Finn and Curtis was EVERYTHING. I absolutely devoured their banter. 😂😂😂

Finn moves to Canada with his sister and her fiancé, because the latter had to return home to take care of his mother. During his sister’s engagement party, he meets Curtis, who happens to be his soon-to-be brother-in-law’s best friend… and yeah, also his favorite camboy, though he doesn’t know that right away, of course. 🤭

They immediately connect and are attracted to each other, but since they’ll be in the same social circle, they decide not to act on it. 😅
Of course, things get… a little complicated when Finn finds out Curtis IS his favorite camboy. 🤭🤭🤭

I had so much fun reading this book, and I can’t recommend it enough. 💙💙💙

It's me. Great story but my tolerance level for this trope has faded.
It goes against my philosophy in life that says you take happiness where you find it, nourish it and let it go wherever it takes you.
This conscious decision to avoid potential love to preemptively avoid getting hurt does not compute with me. I'm not knocking the trope, I get it. It's just not for me.
Otherwise, this book is adorable and I had a lot of giggles.😊

I guess I’m not a fan of Curtis as much as Finn was? 💀
I feel like their relationship begins and ends with Curtis’s needs always being put ahead of Finn’s no matter how he tries to sell it to Finn or us readers.

The whole “self-sabotage” discovery for Curtis didn’t sit right with me I’m afraid. I never really understood how his past relationships scarred him so much that he became so closed off he erased the possibility of ever getting in a relationship altogether. I mean, why? What happened exactly? Are we supposed to just accept that for what it is without actually understanding? Or does it have to do with Curtis’s past and family traumas as well maybe? I guess we’ll never know.

But after sort of accepting that, what convinced me even LESS is that all it took was a conversation with David to turn Curtis magically in love with Finn. That transition was waaaay too fast man 😅 He only just realized he has this issue and he’s suddenly able to get past it and declare his love to Finn? When a few days before he couldn’t even have sex with Finn without the excuse of turning a camera on. I don’t know, this felt so off.

I feel like the book started off with the best premises and had so many exciting tropes all mixed together, but the tension kind of got lost somewhere in the process. I absolutely loved their online chats and basically anything before the Curtis-knows-Finn-knows-about-Gunner reveal. From that point on, the tension kind of evaporated and their choices became questionable (plus the whole “self-sabotage” aspect I mentioned earlier).

I still enjoyed reading it for the most part, but I do admit that I wasn’t a fan of Curtis’s behavior and I thought Finn deserved better. Maybe seeing them together as a happy couple for a longer time would’ve helped me warm up to Curtis a bit more, seeing his more tender side and maybe having him soften his edges a bit. As it often happens with many other MM romance books, though, we barely got a final chapter and an epilogue with them together.

Dare I say I have a new favorite Eden & Saxon book!?!? This was SO GOOD!!! I read it in one sitting!!!Literally could not put it down!! The way these two write together is nothing short of magical. It’s always so seamless and with so much depth to the characters!

Curtis and Finn are perfect examples of this. They feel so real and you can empathize with them. They are completely different but exactly what the other needs. The chemistry between them was palpable and undeniable. The OTT flirty banter and (semi) anonymous sexting was hot!! The cam work was spicy and fun!! There were heartfelt and emotional moments, steamy encounters and lots of sibling meddling. I just loved everything about this book!

*ARC REVIEW*

Star rating = ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Spice level = 🌶🌶🌶🌶
Releases = November 6th

"I'm promising to give him my whole heart, and all I ask is that he do the same in return."

I read this in one sitting, so that should tell you all you need to know.

David definitely described Finn perfectly, even if he was drunk (yay bachelor parties)...."He's like....cinnamon wrapped up in pastry with that gooey sauce on top." Yes, Finn is the cinnamon roll of all cinnamon rolls. You just can't help falling in love with him from the start. The way he takes care of everyone around him, just makes him the perfect man.

Curtis is extremely closed off when it comes to relationships. He decides from the beginning that relationships don't work, so why bother trying. Unfortunately, life doesn't work that way and before he even realizes it, he and Finn are breaking all the rules.

From instant attractions to having to hear hard truths and fixing things, Finn and Curtis were always inevitable. Sometimes meddling siblings do know what's best after all.

Underwhelming

I had a lot of hope for this book because the plot sounded super interesting and fun, the book was alright at best. I feel like there should’ve been more connections between the two MC’s and we also barely get any time with them actually being together in a relationship. The whole book we focus on one problem the entire time and then at 93% into the book finally the other MC “falls in love” it just felt like the book went from 0-100 without much of a buildup it was like “i have commitment issues and i don’t let myself be in relationships” for THE ENTIRE TIME and then he talks with his friend ONCE and all of a sudden he’s in love, he wants a relationship, and can see a future with the other MC. I don’t know this book just didn’t meet expectations and for being a book about a cam boy the spice was barely there 3⭐️ 1.5🌶️

Camboys are always a special read for me. I love them, and this one was no different. The way these two connected was super cute. I really loved the relationship scrooge vs. romantic aspect as well. This has all the things you expect from a cowrote and just all the good feels. I loved this so much. These two are amazing. Also, Beth had me in tears at some points. The Alzheimer rep was spot on and brought back memories.
