The quick and easy way to learn the basic Japanese kanji!
Learning Japanese Kanji Practice Book is intended for beginning students or experienced speakers who need to practice their written Japanese. Kanji are an essential part of the Japanese language and together with kana ( hiragana and katakana ) comprise written Japanese.
This book presents the most commonly used kanji characters. All the kanji and related vocabulary words in this book are those that students are expected to know for Level 5 of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test. (JLPT). Characters that appear in the AP Japanese Language and Culture Exam are flagged. Readings, meanings, and common compounds are presented. The correct method of writing each character is indicated and practice boxes with strokes that can be traced are provided, along with empty boxes for freehand writing practice.
Lots of exercises are included to give students the opportunity to practice writing sentences containing the Kanji. Indexes at the back allow you to look up the characters by their readings and English meanings.

This textbook can genuinely be useful to help mastering basic Japanese kanji- especially when it comes to handwriting. Tailored for N5 level JLPT and AP Japanese Language and Culture exam preparation, this book has a straightforward approach to learning kanji that you’d mostly find useful if you’re completely new to it.
With clear explanations and practical examples, each character is presented with its meaning, readings, stroke order, and a few example words, allowing for quick comprehension and retention. Emphasising commonly used kanji, this book ensures practicality in real-life communication and will be useful for reference alongside the other resources you use to practice grammar and vocabulary.
A book that spans the east and west with a primer of the development of “ Kanji” and how to familiarize yourself with the stokes needed to artistically duplicative the written Japanese language. Practice words with each stroke one by one with plenty of practice grids, to get you going. And definitions to help you to remember. As you acquire words their is a second section to help put words together, to make phrases. ( and more grids to practice) I loved this.... I also recommend the pen set with 12 pens in 4 different nib thicknesses by Boaker made in China. Both of these are available from Amazon.
Won't really teach you the Kanji, but the extra writing practice space is great and the note cards associated with this book are great for on-the-go study.
looked at the necessary kanji for my course. 1-10,1000,10,000, yen, river and a few others. Also helpful with the technique and order of writing each of the characters.
