*Highlander of Stone is a steamy Scottish historical romance novel of 80,000 words (around 400 pages) written by Eloise Madigan and published by Cobalt Fairy.
No cheating, no cliffhangers, lots of steam and a happy ending.
Highlander of Stone by Eloise Madigan is an engaging and romantic Highland tale that hooked me from the start. Brave Leona defies her ruthless cousin and enters a temporary betrothal with Laird Murdock, a man rescued from a dungeon who must protect both his clan and his daughter. Their slow‑burn connection, filled with tender moments (including a charming cat and delightful conversations), builds toward a dramatic fight for the bride. Eloise Madigan brings her characters vividly to life, balancing tension, romance, and family loyalty. The extended epilogue is a perfect, satisfying finish to a story of courage, love, and happily‑ever‑after. Intriguing, heartfelt, and beautifully told; I really loved this one.
I can’t recommend this book and series enough. What a touching storyline for all three books. This book made my heart ache then smile as the book concluded this series. This book is filled with adventure, suspense, sadness, laughter, joy and tears; from prologue to extended epilogue. It’s definitely one I’ll be reading again after I finish reading all of the books written by this author. I started with furthest publication date and am working my way to most recent. I can’t recommend this author enough. Just start reading. I guarantee you won’t be disappointed.
It was a lovely read with all the feels for a Scottish Highlander love story. It had the brutality, anguish, kidnapping and the ‘I canna luv ye!’ It brought a tear to my eyes. I also chuckled a bit too. Skye was cute and funny in some of her outbursts.
CONS.
The daughter’s wise words for a 5-6 year old were a bit much. I could see a little bit of it but not to the extent it happened. My other was Leona. 🤦♀️ 🙄 I just wanted to slap her several times. I tried to just keep it as a love story but there were times I skipped a little. I also didn’t understand about his wife (Moira) and what happened to her.
Leona is being forced to marry her cousin so that he can become the Laird of their clan and get her dowry. He is mean and ruthless and she overhears that there is a man being tortured in the dungeon. She decides to help him and she gets him free, treats his wounds, and begs him to take her away. Her cousin sees them in the garden during escape and tries to kill Murdock and loses. Leona grabs her brother, his little cat, and she follows Murdock to his home. That's when a lonely little girl really starts their problems, but eventually loves solves them. The characters are believable and fun!
Murdoch and Leona's story was one of tentativeness and wrongly withheld feelings on Murdoch's part . Leona had helped Murdoch escape captivity and begged him to take her with him, but for his own reasons he left her there , but not before killing her cousin who intended to marry her and claim the lairdship which was rightfully her young brothers. Knowing she was no longer safe she fled with her brother and went to the only place she thought she'd be safe, Ainsley Castle, the home of Murdoch.. I love Eloise's work, but this left me breathless.
Awesome Highland story that is going to keep you turning the pages.
Eloise Madigan has brought her characters to life in her new book "Highlander of Stone". A Laird rescued from a dungeon by a Lady needing protection. Their story will pull you into their lives and keep you intrigued.
Escaping a dungeon & horrid men! Where tale to keep reading! Daughters Skye adds so much. Murdoch is so worth it! Leorna is a good to not wait for him but head out to the unknown seeking a love she already had. Pays to use your head. She was fortunate tho illogical. Cat was a cat!!
This was a fabulous book. It was fast paced and easy to read. Laird Anilsey was a fierce warrior and protector of those he loved. He had a hard time expressing himself Leona was a stubborn but loving woman they made a perfect couple. You need to give this a read you won’t be disappointed.
If you like strong heroines and protective heroes then this is a great choice! Their strength is shown throughout this whole story. His is muscular and hers is personal but both are to be reckoned with! You are pulled into this tale through the author’s telling and descriptive words used to become part of it all.
. . . the writing is good, the premise of the story is not strong enough to support the length. An edit to tighten would have strengthen and been would have been beneficial. The characters were engaging, although Leona's selfishness at the most crucial moment was disturbing. A worthwhile read regardless.
The Laid Ansley carried traumas that dictated his behavior and life. Leona was fighting for her clan and her freedom when they crossed paths.saving his life turned out to be the best decision of her life, Highly recommend this book ,
OMG what a beautiful and awesome love adventure!!! The characters were amazing and incredibly brave. Having cousins like she had sent chills down my spine. The adventure was incredible. Thanks for sharing your adventure!!!
