American white separatist, mostly known for his novel The Turner Diaries, which he wrote under the nom de plume Andrew MacDonald.

In 1966, he joined the American Nazi Party and was a member until 1970. One of the reasons he left was he disliked the Nazi uniform image.

The Turner Diaries
by William Luther Pierce/Andrew Macdonald
Read March 2025 in English

I read this book in marts 2025 because I oppose Goodreads banning it. That was my primary reason.

I also read it to try to understand (or at least know) the far-rights point of view.

I am not going to give it a one star review, although it is tempting, because there where many interesting insights.

“we couldn't use means which contradicted our ends. If we begin preying on the public to support ourselves, we will be viewed as a gang of common criminals, regardless of how lofty our aims are. Worse, we will eventually begin to think of ourselves the same way.”

”one can't avoid the conclusion that it is corruption, not tyranny, which leads to the overthrow of governments.”

”it has been true all through history that only small portions of a population are either good or evil. The great bulk are morally neutral-incapable of distinguishing absolute right from absolute wrong-and they take their cue from whoever is on top at the moment.”

I do not see how it should be Goodreads job to hinder people reading books. Or if they want to do it anyway at least be honest about it. Understanding how other people thing or see the world it the first point it talking to them and trying to resolves this mess in a peaceful way.
