Samantha and Andreas had known each other as children, but serious family drama and betrayal had separated them for 15 years. Samantha was best friends with Kaitlyn from the previous book series, and they each played a big part in each other's stories. Andreas was a loner, mostly because his family was evil. This was a very hard-won happy ending!
