This book was incredible to me when I first read it. It's set in a rural community with focus on a ranch and life involved with it. The characters are wonderfully well-fleshed out, REAL instead of paper plate characters thrown in to advance a plot. The details and descriptions are such that it was obvious that the writer KNEW what she was talking about, had lived in that setting.
Later, I met the author, and discovered that she DID in fact live on a farm/ranch and had family still doing so. We became good "author friends" and I frequently jabbed her to get moving on the sequel (jabs she returned LOL). Sadly, Life happened: her husband passed away, financial difficulties followed, and then her own health took a downturn. So, I'll never know what happens next, as she passed away as well.
But no reason not to enjoy it!
