Kayli Winchester is still recovering from her last adventure and is out hunting for her missing brother, Wil, when Ethan Murdock calls, asking for help. Billions of dollars have gone missing and Kayli is the perfect person to find them – as one of the few people Ethan trusts.

Only one problem: The team is led by Blake Coaltar.

Kayli negotiates her way into a co-lead position, but for the Academy guys, that might not be good enough. The Academy doesn’t trust Blake and the last thing they want is for her to get mixed up with him.

The guys can't persuade the willful Kayli to abandon the cause. They give her five days to convince them they should stay in this job. If she can’t, the boys want her to walk away.

Kayli goes undercover and becomes the hot topic around some of the most wealthy and powerful CEOs in Charleston. Now she has to prove she’s a secret investor for old Mr. Murdock from before he disappeared, and convince them all she’s the real deal. She dives into her assignment head-first, but one uncovered complication after another threatens the mission.

No matter how close to the chest Kayli plays her hand, secrets have a way of being discovered, and Axel, Corey, Brandon, Marc and Raven aren't going to like the truth she’s keeping from them. Being forced to work together for a week with an enemy may tear them all apart, leaving Kayli with nothing.

It might be up to Blake Coaltar to save them from each other.

I know I have a problem. A big problem.

I'm a fangirl for these books. I wait in anticipation for them to come out and when they do, I read them in a few hours and then sit there for a few hours a little ticked off.

The thing that makes me so mad is that all of these characters, while they are incredibly smart and talented are all a bunch of fucking dumbasses. Kayli, if you're having such problems with all of these attractive men wanting to get with you, then at least attempt to reject them. She gets so upset when she thinks about the conflict that SHE IS CAUSING but then does nothing about it for the most part.

But let's back up a bit here.

Kayli has been enlisted by Ethan to try to squirrel out some of the problem causing trustees. A ton of money has gone missing and since she did such a stellar job before helping, he has decided that she is one of the few people that he can trust. Also along for the ride are Avery, Future (who goes by Fancy now) and the ever attractive, popular and snobbish Blake. Ethan and Blake have decided that it would be best if the Academy boys came along and helped out but basically blackmail/coerce Kayli into doing it by offering a shit ton of money and a sob story.

So she's on a boat. With her team. And Blake. And Avery. And Ethan. What could possibly go wrong?

Unlike some other books by C.L. Stone, this series has a great plot and the story lines actually move fairly well. I like the spy stuff. I like that Kayli plays a major role in figuring things out and isn't just some helpless heroine (I'm looking at you Sang) that stands on the sidelines and lets the boys do her dirty work. She's fun to read since she is sassy, playful, and knows that she can contribute. And she isn't afraid to pull the trigger and fight back.

Kayli is fun and the boys are entertaining. While I enjoy the conflict, these guys desperately need to have a sit down talk about things. Especially with Kevin. I mean, is Kevin really part of the team? What does he contribute? He's been noticeably absent for most of four books. I'm dying to know where that little arc goes.

But above all, above Kayli and Raven and Axel, my favorite character is Fancy. She is so incredibly strong and confident and I think she's a good influence, in a weird way, on Kayli. She encourages her to stand up for herself and respect herself as a woman. And she isn't above strutting into a room, knowing she's the hottest shit there.

So there are definitely good things about this series if you want to sell your soul as you start reading them. There are also those moments where you want to throw things.

For example, the ending. Not only does it end in a cliffhanger but it ends with that?

I say this at the end of all of these reviews though for C.L. Stone books. I don't care if the book made me mad. I don't care if I want to throw things and rage and get mad. I want the next one now and I want it so bad!

I’ve had several days to cool down and change my mind, but it’s not happening. I need to get it out of my system.

And, at the end, this is just one more opinion.

So here it goes.

**LOTS OF SPOILERS AHEAD**
**LOTS OF GIFS**
**REALLY LONG BITCH FIT**

This book was doomed with me from the moment I found out it was going to be Blake's book. I've never liked Blake and Kayli was in no better place. They're mostly the main reason why I hated this but not entirely.

So, why would I read it?

Because I do like Corey, Raven, Axel, Brandon and Marc. Even Kevin. He finally showed up more and looks like he has a nice life plan. Good thing he's not drooling over Kayli as well ¬¬.

Talking about Kayli...

- Family first?
Where are your priorities Kayli?

I know she's is not Academy (yet, never, whatever, I don't care), but she's involved with The Academy somehow. Where is "Family first" here? Kayli has a brother who is missing and looks like the only time she gives a fuck about finding him is in the first chapter, where by the way, is a giant ass pretext to justify her decisions:

"I didn't want to admit it to any of them, but I felt if Wil really wanted to talk to me, he would have found me by now. Maybe he was in danger and avoiding me, but how much danger could he be in to not even let me know he was safe? No, I was starting to believe I'd done something wrong. Maybe he thought I was neglectful or didn't care.

Secretly, I was afraid to face him and find out"

IT DOESN'T MATTER!!! You have only one brother with whom you've been through abuse, hunger and having no place to live, and suddenly you're the martir telling yourself that maybe he doesn't want you to find him? You've been "looking" for him for what? Like two months! If you love and care about him, IT. DOESN'T. MATTER. Wether he want's it or not, if you are scared of finding out the truth or not, you don't stop looking. You have no other family, Kayli Winchester. What would you do without The Academy? Or if you had never met Blake? You'd have no one.

-Kayli is brilliant

The only reason why Ethan Murdock asks for Kayli's help, is because she has a connection with The Academy. That's it. Her spy skills are awful. She can't stick to a plan and acts without thinking, and I remember Nathan saying to Sang "Fuck thinking. Thinking hurts the team", but not always honey! Specially when you're dealing with people committing fraud.

"I was in too deep and I needed a break. What had I been thinking? Investor or broker or whatever? Working closely with Mr. Murdock? I didn't know what to say. I hadn't prepared anything. That was crazy. [...] And I was talking to someone with a gun in his pants. I was going to get shot at again at this rate"

"I was going to die.
Regret filled me immediately after. How stupid, how crazy but mostly, how wrong I'd been. I should have stayed near Axel. I should have kept my promise to him to stay with someone at all times."

*rolls eyes* Tell me something I don't know.

The glasses doesn't turn you into Clark Kent. Use your brain.

Oh, but that's not the end of Kayli's brilliance. Apparently wrists and penises feel the same:

"It was then I noticed I was holding on to Raven with my hand. At first, I'd thought it part of his hand or wrist or something.

My hand encircled to figure out exactly what it was, and discovered to be cylindrical, thick and pierced...and hard."

Anyone who tries to tell me "she was just waking up":

I mean...Since when penises and wrists feel the same? Plus, can you imagine Raven's wrist size? o_O I'm not saying the russian is not well equiped, but a wrist?

I'd believe this from Sang. From Kayli? No way.

-The cramps
Okay, this was a weird thing in the book. What I really want to figure out is how a 19 year old woman who's not a virgin, doesn't know what her body is trying to tell her? How come a man knows best what's wrong with you? You've been turned on before, like...¬¬. Even if it was the first time it happened, she could have guessed. She's brilliant.

And she could have done something about it, too.

-The sex
The cramps were the giant excuse for Kayli to have sex with Blake at the end of the book. Because, are Academy guys seriously such douchebags that don't know how to work in tandem or returning the favor?

I don't buy it. Let's say you have:

✔A warm bed, a very, very hot, very naked, tattooed, pierced russian wholikestowatchSpongeBobhowcuteisthat

✔A handsome-exotic looking man who's crazy about you. In a playroom. Just the two of you. And you're already sans panties.

✔Warm, relaxing water. You're butt naked. A pair of gorgeous eyes in the body of a very delicious looking specimen. Who's also naked. And wants to touch you.

But no. You wait. You get cramps. Someone throws you overboard. You think you're going to die. Another man who also pines for you goes to the rescue. And you end up having sex with that wet and salty man on the cold sand of a beach.

He is the hero...

The gentleman...

THE ORGASM GIVER SLASH CRAMP RELIEVER

AKA Blake Coaltar.

I've stated at the beginning of this essay review that I've never been a fan of Blake. Everything about him annoys me. I couldn't care less if he died disappeared taking Kayli with him.

All his freakin pet names: Pumpkin spice, sugar, sugar dumpling, sugar doll, brownie twinkie cinamon roll sweetheart, darling... DUDE! SHE HAS A NAME!!

He's a shady hypocrite. "I'm going to poison a well to get back to those drug dealers but don't trust the Academy guys because blah, blah, blah"...ugh.

He also reminds me of someone:

"Blake had spilled the beans. That was pretty bad. The boys had told me they kept their Academy a secret for many reasons, and it was better not to tell anyone"

Blake likes to spill the beans a lot, either to Kayli or whomever.

Absolutely everything about him annoys me. Enough said.

-Academy boys

What the hell did just happen with all of you?!

✖Raven and Marc were like two horny 15 year olds with no experience or manners.

✖Axel: Why do you listen to Kayli?

✖Brandon and his psychotic fits.

✖Corey...Mmmm, no, he didn't do anything wrong. He's too cute❤. But 4 books and not even one kiss for Corey? That's unacceptable.

✖LIAM, OH. MY. GOD. Aren't these guys supposed to be secretive?
Why in the world would you tell a complete stranger to you that you're in a polygamous relationship? WHY?! And of all people, to gossip girl Blake Coaltar? He's not Academy. You've known him for five minutes. Tomorrow the whole ship is going to know there's polygamy in Charleston. IT MAKES NO SENSE.

Lots of things didn't make sense to me.

I don't read these books for the depth or meaningful situations, I read them to entertain myself. But there were too many inconsistencies and oddities in this one to the point it pissed me off and I simply couldn't enjoy it.

Add to that my strong dislike for the MC, for Blake, the Academy guys' behavior, the plot...¯\_(ツ)_/¯ meh, shit happens.

- Kayli was less annoying
- but damn, she's a walking disaster
- the bathroom scene is the best of the series so far
- you go girl, own it
- everybody's lying and having secrets, it's hard to keep track
- Kayli is either damn stupid or fucking smart, no in between
- and i totally love her in her smart moments
- and when she's in charge and orders everyone around
- future/fancy is bloody annoying but her confidence is amazing
- Kevin who?
- hmmm omg what the fuck happened?
- hmmm please stop pressuring her
- hmmm please just tell them you love them
- hmmm please, just fucking talk to each other and stop acting like hormonal teens
- hmmm more please?

I think if I have to read a series by c.l.stone it will have to be the ghost bird series. At least sang has an excuse to be young and naive where as Kayli doesn't. One minute she is wanting the guys, but as soon as Blake step into the picture it's all I'm mad at the guys and I can't trust them and I'll just jump Blake instead. But if Blake messes up oh no I got to run back to those same academy guys because I have no where else to go.uh hello that is call using them; just move in with Blake for heaven's sake. She seems to trust him more then the guys anyway.
She wants to go on about trust and how she is a big girl. But seems to forget that she doesn't give anyone a chance. She allows her thoughts to be manipulated by someone else and start to doubt just as quickly, then start to run her mouth. I am starting to feel the guys should find out what happens and get into trouble just so she can reap from her mistakes. they should have backed out and left her on the ship as soon as she started on about the phone. I bet as soon as trouble started up she wouldn't have been running to Blake. Heck I bet as this book goes on the first sign of her breaking a nail she goes crying to the guys for help and that group of so called criminals jump in and save her. So freaking frustrating.

Okay so I'm still trying to read this, still beyond annoyed with kayli, still feel like the guys should ditch her leave her to Blake and be done with her, and raven needs to stop thinking with his pecker and with his brain. Heck can someone feel betrayed other then her selfish butt. Also she should have told them blake talks to much and they are being spied on by everyone. It seems every page I am reading I feel like ripping into everyone and scream at everyone to get rid of kayli.

The guys are all idiots. That should have been the only thing I put into this review, but it's not just them I am beyond the point where I can't stand Kayli. Blake as well, there is something about him that screams not trust worthy.

Maybe it's me, but I think this series is stuck, dragged down by a mediocre uninteresting protagonist, and an even more stifling, uninspiring plot. The only thing that keeps people coming back for more each time is a curiosity over how she will manage the 5 Academy Guys she wants. Or is it 6? Oh yeah just 5. She's made it clear that she's not into the black guy Kevin. (You dodged a bullet Kevin). If we throw Blake in, it does round out nicely to six. Clearly she is irresistible, the audience just doesn't get invited into exactly what makes her a male magnet, where they are all willing to be with her and lose their power to think about anything else when in her presence. Except Kevin of course who, by the way, is far too busy being part of the service staff, cleaning rooms, handing out warm hand towels at dinner and working in the kitchen, in order to 'fit in better'. (I'm not making this stuff up people). Comeon CL Stone, why is he even in the story?
Once again the editing is unsatisfactory and distracting. I started this series drawn in by the uniqueness. Now it's morphed into something gimmicky and vapid.

Kayli has barely recovered from her poisoning when she gets a call from a friend asking for a favor. Turns out Ethan Murdock needs help finding some bad apples stealing money from his companies. He has already recruited some of Kayli's other non-Academy friends but would like Kayli and the Academy guys too. It's a fact-finding mission that will take place on a 5 day cruise up the coast. It doesn't take long for the mission to go south, putting Kayli and those she cares about in danger.

I'm enjoying this series. It's definitely more mature than the Ghost Bird series, and Kayli proves that in this book as she gets closer to some of the guys. The book ends on a bit of a cliffhanger - It definitely makes me want to tear into the next one. I'm already mourning the fact that book 6 isn't available yet, and it looks like a long wait. I hate waiting!

I was a little scared at first that I would be disappointed by this book or that I wouldn't be interested in the plot especially when I learned that it would be focused on Blake. It's not that I don't like him but he's not my favorite character but it wasn't always focused on him and I really loved the parts about Raven and Axel and also Marc.

However, I really enjoyed reading it. I liked the fact that Kayli finally made her point () and I'm excited to read more about all of them. I feel like this series is a little faster concerning the relationships than in the Ghost Bird series and I really appreciate that.

Now I'll just wait for July 2016!

I love the damn academy so damn much that it hurts. Some of my favorite books. When I'm depressed and there is something going on it is the books by CL Stone that get me going!

I love these guys #teamcorey #teamraven #teamblake

I fell more and more in love with Blake during this, especially at the end. (Not going to spoil that!) Love how different this team is from the other team because they are more grown up. Even though they are not much older, they seem more mature and Kayli is a whole different being than Sang. I love the diversity of the two characters and two teams.

Only thing that I can say is that I missed this being more about Wil. I miss Wil. Give me Wil! Let's find Wil! The scenes were HOT HOT HOT. I loved them. Give me more scenes like that. I mean Wow. It's the one thing I love over the Ghost Bird Series, how there is more HOT moments. With Sang there is "almost" moments and subtle hints of kind of hot scenes (but North and her are hot together no matter what). I loved it.

Adventure. Going out of their comfort zones. Towel. Shower. Hot baths. I just can't go on any more. LOVE IT! I cannot wait till July of next year for this next one. Please do it sooner? Oh why do you hate me?!

I am hooked! Love this series and of course the The Ghost Bird Series. Very addicting. Can't wait to read more by C.L. Stone. What a tease.. Great YA even for paranormal adult readers. Can't wait for Hoax in 2016. It is good it is already on goodreads so I can add it to my to-read shelf... Don't want to loose this series out of sight.

Yes! Now we're getting somewhere. I fell into absolute love with The Academy series, and when C.L. Stone came out with this more New Adult spin-off series, I was super excited. I've devoured every single word from each of the books. I love all of the characters. Kayli is bad ass, smart and brave, and the guys are just, well, sigh.

I had gotten to a point in the last book where I wanted to see some deeper development of the relationships in the story, and this book definitely delivered. I felt like we broke some new ground and made some big strides in the right direction of the inevitable.

This book also had a lot of great external conflict in it, a wonderful, suspenseful mission, and a lot of wonderful, unexpected moments that I was super stoked to read. I can't figure out, for example, which of these guys I like the best, and therein lies Kayli's romantic dilemma also. Who should she choose? Should she choose at all?

I liked seeing Kayli take the lead a bit in this story. I mean, she's been involved in some missions in past books, but this one was all her. There was a moment when she established herself in front of the guys as something more than how they'd always viewed her, and that scene, while hysterical to read, was so well done and empowering for her.

This author knows how to hook you on her characters and to make you love them. I can't wait to see where the story goes from here!!

I literally spent my entire summer waiting for August 25th to arrive. Never have I wanted a summer to end so badly. Actually, never have I wanted a summer to end, ever! I wasn't excited about this book specifically (tbh, I was not looking forward to Blake's book. I kind of can't stand him) but I knew as a C.L. Stone book there would be enough of my favorite guys to make it worth while. And BOY was I right! Raven! Axel! Marc! It was a hot boy-a-palooza just the way a C.L. Stone book should be! And....almost no Blake! For it being "his" book, there was really very little of him. This could not have made me more happy haha. He did steal the show at the end, but he managed to do it without using too many awful endearments (sugar bear, honey pie, sweety...gag me) so it was fine. That sand though...ouch! Now I'll just be sitting here, impatiently twiddling my thumbs till October and the next Ghost Bird book!

GOODNESS!!!! i love this book , and BLAKE COALTER , my fav. character between the guys , and finally someone got the hint that there could be multi-relationship thingie and i hope at least one of the guys will discuss it together with Kayli in the next book and she will Say YES.
i am super excited for the next book but i hope the series will end soon and won't become like the ghost bird series and have a ridiculous number of upcoming books , i mean come ON!!! who can wait ten years for the ghost bird series to finish.
and finally some action *wink* at the end , i am actually happy that it was with Blake though *sigh*.

WARNING: SPOILERS THROUGHOUT
C.L. Stone got her mojo back in this book! In my review of the last book, I said that the book was going around in circles and I was starting to lose interest in the plot plot. Well, she sure fixed that in this book. She balanced the romantic plot and the plot plot a lot better. The book kept my attention and was fast paced.
I felt like Kayli got her mojo back as well. I loved her in the first book, but the second and third were starting to make me dislike her. Well, the old Kayli showed up for this book, especially toward the end. She got her fire back and didn’t let the boys bulldoze her around all the time. That bathroom scene was hilarious, and I was very proud of Kayli.
Now to Blake… If you have read my reviews before, you would know that I hated Blake before this book. After this book, I am not so sure. While I want to hate him still, I have to admit that he isn’t the same person he was in previous books. I also have to admit that this series isn’t going to follow the format of The Ghost Bird and that Kayli is going to have other love interests besides the Academy boys. I think my biggest problem with Blake is that he isn’t in the Academy. If he was on the team, I think I would have really liked his character and would have shipped him with Kayli. My biggest fear was that he would drive a wedge between Kayli and the boys, which he has done. Now that he has talked to Liam about potentially sharing her, his decision on if he is going to tell the others and seriously consider it, will make my permanent decision of him. If he can put his personal discomfort aside for Kayli’s happiness, I think I would be able to accept him. I guess I will find out soon…
I liked the setting of the cruise ship. I felt like that confined the team more with Kayli and it made her sit down and seriously consider her feelings towards the boys. I think she really needed a reality check because she couldn’t have kept doing what she was doing. While she does have feelings for all of them, by not telling them about each other, she was toying with their feelings and none of them deserved that.
My favorite part of this whole book was probably the drama ! Kayli was constantly having to sneak around with the boys so the others wouldn’t find out. She almost got caught more than once. C.L. Stone also turned up the heat with how far she went with some of the boys. I feel bad for Corey because she has no idea that he has feelings for her and he is seriously behind in the game. I can only assume that she will be turning it up more as the books go on and all I can say is “Bring it on! I am so ready!”. I love this series and I can’t wait to read the next book!

Current Rankings:
1. Raven
2. Marc
3. Axel
4. Corey
5. Brandon
6. Blake

The fourth book of the Theif series and at the beginning I was angry and didn't want to finish reading this book because not one of these characters has grown since this series began...They all act like children and it was working my nerves since they are supposed to be adolescent, however, towards the end of the book Kayli took control of her life after talking things out with Blake and finally started acting like an adult and finally, Blake realized this might be a polygamist relationship and he might need to talk to the guys and convince them this is the best way for everyone...finally things are getting interesting although someone had to try and kill them for all of this to come out...

Now the question is should I continue with this series and purchase the next book or call it quits...well I want to see what happen will Kayli and the boys ever get it right and build a happy relationship/family and will they ever find Wil and find out what is going on in his life and why he has been missing and not trying to find his siter...so many unfinished questions yet to be answered but the one thing I know Blake is the only one who could get Kyali pregnant since earlier in the book Axel told her all of the Academy boys got themselves fixed....hmm interesting 😉

After being disappointed with ‘Fake’ (the 4th book in the series) I was really pleased to see that ‘Accessory’ was back into the action. As usual, we pick up where we left off and the story flows well. We are introduced to new characters both from The Academy and elsewhere and the relationships between Kayli and the boys move to the next level. Things come to a bit of a head but this book doesn’t resolve anything, the storyline continues into ‘Hoax’.

Unlike the last book, I enjoyed the pace of this book and I found myself interested in the mystery the team are trying to solve. This one didn’t feel like a filler book to me. I liked that the tension between the boys and Kayli kicked up a notch and I am fully invested to see how that turns out for them all. There are still many unbelievable situations and frustrating instances but I am not taking them too seriously. There are still many mistakes and typos in this book but I think to enjoy the stories, you need to not question too much. I have started the next one in the series straight away.

Book 4

I chose this rating as it had alot of mistakes and typos in it. I have read all of the other acedemy books and a few had typos but not as many as this book. Ive loved all of them and enjoy the storylines but alot of the stuff in the other series of acedemy books left out alot of info like about volto and how they managed to get some info. Also security issues. Lets of hoax isnt as messed up as this book was.

I like it

It has a good plot line. I enjoyed it mostly. It felt a little drawn out and it took me forever to get through it because even, though I wanted to know what would happen, I'd get kinda bored.
Still want to read the next. And still enjoy the characters and want to know what will happen. I just hope the next book will be a little more fast paced.

Wasn’t really expecting that

I wasn’t expecting that ending. I keep thinking Blake is going to go away. Not really what I wanted to happen and especially for the first. These books do keep you wanting more though. I thought we would be more caught up with the Sang and her boys by now though. Now I wonder if Blake will also join the Academy.

Holy shit. C.L stone, where the hell have you been?
Blake and the Academy boys drove me crazy. You just triggered my fantasies. I’m about to start Hoax but worried about cliffhanging. Just like Axel, I don’t like waiting on Brandon who doesn’t want to be in the dark. The boys are growing on me and I’m afraid to have a withdrawal symptoms.

Blake is now my favorite with Axel a close second. I cannot see what the big deal with Raven is - I find him arrogant and dirty. Brandon needs to try a little harder and Corey is so sweet I want to slap him sometimes. This book wasn't as fast paced as the others and the terrible writing is really starting to get to me!! Just one more book!

One-click author

Eep! The suspense and mystery is this book is amazing. The angst, drama, and comedy round it out perfectly. I get sucked into the pages every time I crack a book by this author. They've become an instant one-click author for me!
